I wish you would have asked him about Jim's old drinking buddy/bodyguard Babe Hill who reportedly has been living down in old Mexico for several years now. I heard that Babe once started to write a book about Jim, but all his notes and/or papers blew away when he set them atop a car and a gust of wind came along and scattered them everywhere and he never started to write again. That dude truly does need to write a book before he dies. He hung out with Jim. The rest of The Doors were only basically around him during rehearsals and actual concerts.

I completely agree! He was closer to Jim than anybody else, even the Doors. He has so many untold classic stories he needs to write a book or do a podcast of lengthy interview ✌🏼🦎👑

I told my first AA sponsor I was going to do my 5th step with Jim Morrison using a ouija board. I thought I was finally going to say something to the old man that would really get him riled up, but nope. He just told me to make sure I actually wrote my 4th step before trying to summons Mr Mojo Risin.

The story Morrison is a cautionary tale…let’s not sugar coat it… he like Kerouac…Joplin…Jerry G and countless others wasted God given talent and died with so much potential that it is nothing short of tragic…the line is straight and unforgiving. Either you change or you die…it’s not easy it’s no pretty it’s just about time… time to grow up. I know I can’t do it alone and I welcome everyone to the last trip!

Jim was a genius and left a great legacy,of music, poetry and film 🎥...Jim was perhaps a tortured soul, but according to those who were his friends,he was quite a humorous guy,and from his lyrics and poetry,he did love his friends and lived life with a passion..In London ,England,in Westminster Abbey, there is a Poets corner, where all the Great luminarys of British literature and poetry are buried,e,.g,Dylan Thomas,Coleridge,Blake ,Shelley, amongst many others, and these literary giants All lived on the edge, and on numerous occasions drunk to extreme, and indulged in let’s say mind altering substances, and sometimes engaged in dangerous romantic dalliances, they had a desire to live like the Ancients, like the Heroes of Greece, and many ways they did,and I would ascribe Jim Morrison to be in That pantheon of people who achieved greatness in the field of Literary Art,and to have left a legacy that almost makes him immortal,Jim is still considered a sort of Demi God by his fans, and New generations are discovering the Great man,and the awesome band,” The Doors “....Some of us are Not meant to grow old,Jim was never going to live a long life, just listen to his music..p.s.,Jim is what most front men would like to be,and there have been many wannabes, and donning leather pants won’t turn you into Jim,because beyond the leather clad Rock God/Sex God image, was always an enquiring intellect..

Weird that he mentioned Frank Lisciandro and the book No One Here Gets Out Alive.
Frank Lisciandro and all of Jim Morrison's close friends, as well as Jim's family, refer to that book as Nothing Here But A Lot of Lies.
Sensationalism, things taken out of context, glorified groupies and stalkers being counted as a legitimate part of Jim Morrison's life, flat out lies - there are a lot of things wrong with the famous No One Here Gets Out Alive. A lot of things.
I don't know what Jerry Hopkins' big grudge was against Jim Morrison but Danny Sugerman was a junkie and Doors' groupie who was working as Ray Manzarek's personal assistant when the book was being written, all of Sugerman's accounts of having a special big brother/little brother relationship with Jim turned out to be a bunch of lies and Ray Manzarek had an uncredited hand in helping to write that book.
After The End was featured in the film Apocalypse Now, The Doors we're back on the radar and No One Here was probably Ray's exploitative way of trying to capitalize on the band's new found popularity.
If you want to read a couple of decent books about Jim and The Doors read Frank Lisciandro's Jim Morrison: Friends Gathered Together and Robby Krieger"s memoir.
Morrison didn't live very long and seemed to keep himself to himself so we may never get a fair and accurate look at him.

If you take 100 people who've never had alcohol and put them in a room and feed them booze all day, you might come up with 2 who wind up being alcoholics.
If you take another 100 people and put them in a room and give them heroin, you'll probably wind up with 70 to 80 heroin addicts.

Most addicts have to hit a bottom of some sort before they change. It can be lost relationships, jobs, losing a house, serious health condition, jail etc before they might try sobriety. He had money, fame his job got more famous because of his behavior and he was running away from a jail sentence to France. How many people can do that? His life was a runaway train by that point.

Once you're an addict, whatever subtance will awaken the dragon . it could be meth or booze............that was his point and he's right about that. Meth addicts are frowned upon, they're cooky and loopy and drop out of society, are obbsessd with meth, and recovery is very difficult.. but there are some alcoholics who's behaviour is much worse. You dont see meth heads shitting themselves....typically, not to mention the headaches from alchohol.......

AA existed during Jim’s time, it wasn’t the 1800s when he was around. I’ve heard a lot of people (not you) including Densmore say things like “we didn’t know alcohol was a disease”. Yeah , the “disease concept” wasn’t around then but the same AA philosophy was. JM wanted to drink to escape life. He may have wanted to slow it down a little here and there because of consequences but he was never going to get sober .
