- I've been playing the Pokemon Trading Card Game for over a decade now, and as a veteran of the physical and digital card game through PTCGO, I'm here to help new players navigate Pokemon Trading Card Game Live, of PTCGL, or Pokemon TCG Live, as it's come to be known. Although trading isn't an option anymore, the game is extremely generous in the ways it lets players get new cards, and I'm going to show you all the ways you can build a dream deck without buying any packs to use code cards. If this gets a bunch of views I might even make a tutorial on the card game itself.

When you go up against someone that has way to many golden rares you know your getting flexed on.
This reminds me, I kinda wanna make a staple-crafting guide. Honestly it's not even super hard to get a decently blinged-out deck, apart from energies since you need so many of those. It shouldn't be a priority, but you can make most of your staples golden with just a couple months' worth of credits.
some people just migrated the right way and have over 250k credits to craft cards with...

If people were smart, they would have had 4 copies of each celebrations card before migration to ptcgl. I did it, and exchanged 400 celebration codes and got well over a quarter million credits to make cards with. Months later and I still have 200k and every card needed for any deck.

I think buying the Calyrex vmax battle deck is the best way to farm credits. Pretty sure you're guaranteed 4k each time.

Funny thing is it's one of the only cards from that set that's actually playable, and I use it in my Gardevoir deck. I pulled three golden mews before I got any little not-golden mews lol

Ah, that just means the card has a chance to be of a higher rarity. It's a gacha system of sorts; whether you actually get an ex or whatever is all up to chance.
At long term is it worth going for Celebration packs rather than Calyrex preconstruct deck?
I've heard that after pulling a lot of cards you can reach 6k on credits just by opening but I guess it's a matter of luck.
You are guaranteed a minimum of 2.750 credits. So I guess it's more eorth buying the Calyrex deck multiple times.
@@brucewayne2956 I'm not entirely sure. I think the overall expected value is still less for Celebrations packs after completing the set, but it does cost fewer crystals, as well... I'm not sure which is better in the long term. I've been buying Celebrations packs for now because I have so many spare credits that I can afford to waste some crystals lol

Can someone explain why some cards are "prohibited"? I want to do a Celebi V deck but it won't let me
Celebi V is from an old set. Look in the bottom left corner of the card and you'll see a D symbol--that card isn't legal for the standard format anymore. Right now you have to use cards from E, F, or G.

You can't trade between friends, unfortunately. It's just collecting.

Extremely glad to help. It took some getting used to on my end when I started. I'm sad trading is gone, but the costs of everything do make it pretty easy to build almost anything you want, fortunately.
Yeah to get all the cards for free it's going to take a lot of grinding and not to mention a lot of losses first started 3 weeks ago and already got flexed on at least 30 times andwon 3 games (1 of them was because they took too long ran out of time)
can you still buy celebrations packs if you are max out and all the cards in it?
I'm not sure, but the secret rares would take a REALLY long time to max out.

There are no V-Union cards in format anymore. You'll have to switch from "Standard" to "All" in the search filters.
Hey I pulled a gold star switch trainer in the store packs, but on the deck the normal switch card shows up not the gold one, can someone help pleaseeeeeeeeee
Click on the Switch, then click the "available" button and scroll to the right. You'll be able to see every printing of the card, and the secret rares will be all the way to the right.

im kind of a year late to the vid but I just started two days ago and im at like tier 7 but there's only 6 days left in the pass. Should I rather save my 600 crystals for the next pass since I can't get all the tiers by the end. I only have 695 crystals total rn

So how long does this take to build an actual metagame tier deck to playtest?
I play standard and I want to play online to playtest with my local store group . They have all the competitive tier one decks and all I have is the crap you start with
So, first of all, my video here is a bit wrong. I recommend getting Shadow Rider Calyrex decks, not Celebration packs. The first two times you buy the shadow rider deck, you won't get a lot of credits because you don't have four of everything yet. However, from the third time on, you should get around 4,000 credits. The deck costs 1,250 crystals, which means you can get the deck a little more than once every three weeks. (Around twice a month if you make it to Great League every time.)
Each Pokemon-ex costs 750 credits, if I recall correctly. Most trainers cost 100 credits, but some Rare trainers and Pokemon are 400, I think. Based on all that, you can preeeeeetty much make a full deck from scratch every two or three months.
However, a lot of trainer cards, such as Iono, Boss's Orders, and Professor's Research, are used in most of the relevant decks in the standard format. So, once you build one or two decks, you'll likely have most of the trainer cards you need to build others, and you'll mostly have to worry about the Pokemon from that point on. It's still a rather slow grind, since the daily challenges are pretty much all you can do to get crystals, apart from advancing through the leagues, and getting to ultra league is REALLY hard and time-consuming. Even Azul GG, one of the best Pokemon TCG players in the world, is almost always stuck in Great League during his streams.
However, you only have to play a little bit every day. Most daily challenges can be completed in one or two matches, and if you complete the daily challenges every day, the battle pass will take care of itself. (There's five weeks to go on the current one and I'm already done.)
Also!!!! Ask your locals if they allow proxies. If you have sleeves and own a printer, you can make paper versions of the cards you don't own and put them in front of any random card, and pretend like you have the real thing. Proxies are allowed by most people in casual play, and even in some unofficial tournaments. However, if you're going to official or serious tournaments and locations, you'll need the real cards. If you intend to trade or buy, use TCGplayer.com, not eBay. You'll get a more accurate view of what a card is worth there.

How do I ger crystals if I have less than the 600 needed for the premium pass?
You get 60 every day by doing daily missions. You should do everything in your power to complete the one that gives you crystals.
oh and coins are used for trainer customization and deck sleeves and stuff

Hello can you recomend decks for new players that can be build easilly?
Charizard, Chien-Pao, and Gholdengo are good places to start. Pretry thick lines (mostly 3 or 4 of each card), and the way you're supposed to play each of those decks is pretty similar no matter what the matchup is.

You can! There should be a filters button, and you'll need to change one of the first filters from "owned" to "unowned" or "all".
