    At long term is it worth going for Celebration packs rather than Calyrex preconstruct deck? I've heard that after pulling a lot of cards you can reach 6k on credits just by opening but I guess it's a matter of luck. You are guaranteed a minimum of 2.750 credits. So I guess it's more eorth buying the Calyrex deck multiple times.

      @@brucewayne2956 I'm not entirely sure. I think the overall expected value is still less for Celebrations packs after completing the set, but it does cost fewer crystals, as well... 1:11:06 You sat there mocking the game cause Roak was a easy battle when his Pokemon are Geodude, Onix, two Pokémon taking 4x damage against grass (& water) types plus a Craniados who takes 2x damage against grass…? 😤 Calling it too easy like somehow battling with the type advantage AND being able to do 4x damage against 2/3 Pokemon of his, IS MOCKING the game. It’s not an easy battle, just easy with type advantage naturally- and it’s the first gym… What exactly were you expecting difficulty wise there? Try an unevolved chimchar, lvl 14 or less going in with no items… You win easily (even with using the power up punch) THEN I suppose you could mock it with good reason… No good game goes completely out from the gate. Plus if you aren’t going super efficient Pokemon match ups, it CAN be tough. TH-camr *Jross11* the same year released a Badoof only run… He’s a masterful Pokémon gamer and without an advantage he in that video can and does testify that this gym leader is better than average. That Geodude having defense curl & rollout too… They are given great move sets but type advantage changes how well some Pokémon perform against others… That and levels… “Game’s too easy” 🙄

    This section of the turnabout is the definition of: "The more I think about it, the less sense it makes". Phoenix got disbarred for presenting forged evidence but, Von Karma only got a penalty and, furthermore, Edgeworth sent someone to death row using forged evidence and faced no consequences. Also, Phoenix gave up too quickly, he could have tried to cross-examine Drew or call Trucy to the stand. And Klavier didn't actually prove he forged evidence, it was just a witness. For all the judge and Phoenix know, Drew could be a random old man Klavier made testify in his favor. One thing I like about this section is Phoenix's attitude. At this point he's almost a legendary attorney, it's natural that he's more confident and cocky at this point, being in control of the trial even if he's losing. One thing I dislike about DD and SoJ is that Phoenix gets dumber, almost like in the original trilogy, he should be more similar to this case or RftA.

      Yikes, that is not ideal. Thank you extremely for pointing that out. I play with the audio levels a lot in order to hear certain things more clearly while editing, and it seems that I forgot to unmute that section of my voice-over. Here's the script for that section: Vera is alive, but she could die at any moment. The trial must end, as soon as possible. Klavier's argument: That Vera poisoned herself out of guilt for killing her father. Apollo has another idea, though. He shows Vera's bottle of nail polish, and gets a slight reaction out of Klavier. The Mason System revealed the bottle's source, and Klavier slowly realizes whom Apollo's about to name.

    Also for how calculating and experience Pheonix supposedly is now, did he not just accept this evidence without questioning its validity in the slightest? Like really? • @MikeTheEntei

      I sorta attribute it to Phoenix being grossly overconfident, but it is still jarring.

    • @Jyoryaxx
      @Jyoryaxx หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MikeTheEntei That's an interesting reason, although it unfortunately adds to the problem of Pheonix not having much self confidence outside of AJ, maybe even losing it later. It was still noticeable regardless, especially since it wasn't the first time this happened. Edgeworth didn't directly forge evidence but I imagine the autopsy report was outdated for a reason.

      Phoenix gets more confident after the first game, and develops an almost-irrational hatred of prosecutors during JFA, but I agree, he's never truly COCKY until this game. You could argue that he's toned himself down as of DD specifically because of this trial, but regardless, it doesn't excuse the diary page as a stupid way to disbar him.

    I really liked this video, I don't usually find so thorough AA cases analysis. (Massive text incoming) I very much agree with what you say, it is an experimental case, with great ideas but poor execution. One of the biggest issues, if not the biggest, (aside from having to replay the serenade cutscenes almost 17 times) is the fact that Machi is the defendant and nobody ever questions that nor finds it strange. I understand that AA has always been goofy and not realistic, but my suspension of disbelief only goes to a point. It could be fixed in many ways, but my idea is that Daryan and the chief of justice have manipulated the prosecution to go against Machi and pin the crime on him in order to hide their corruption. Therefore, Klavier is forced to obey and only in the end when Daryan is suspected he can finally start to look for the truth. This would fix the issue with Machi's accusation and tie into the themes of corruption of the game, which are kinda forgettable (When I started DD, I had totally forgotten that the dark age of law even was in AJ). Furthermore, I find it pretty strange that we never met the chief of justice, and we didn't confront him for his corrupt practices and only learn of them through the judge, it's a major part of the story, and we learn of it in very forced ways, almost like if it was an afterthought. We could have seen Daryan actively trying to slow our investigation, Klavier having a moral conflict over following a broken and corrupt system or finding the truth, or having the chief of justice in the stand like Gant (Tbh, it would have been a bit weird taking down a big shot like him in the 3rd case, maybe the game could have shown him using his influence and power to go free and show how broken the system is, giving Apollo and Klavier a bigger reason to want to change the legal system). I believe that this is a result of the game being rushed, which is even worse in T. Succession, even though I love that case. Sorry for this giant text. I like this game, it had so much potential and good ideas, but they were poorly executed. Great video and I'm looking forward to T. Succession's analysis.

      Why, thank you for the compliments and for your thoughts as well. In order to ensure that everything flows relatively well in my video, I'm scripting the entire rest of the video before recording or editing anything. I just finished drafting the Mason System portion this afternoon, and it alone is almost 5,000 words long and twice as big as any other section of the review. I'm reeeeally hoping I can get everything out before the 6th of September so I can play Investigations XD

  • @ChampionJan
    @ChampionJan 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So first off, I want to say that the song wasn't shown 7 times. It was a lot more than that😂 Additionally, the concept of Daryan being so difficult to pin down due to his meddling in the investigation is actually really clever. Apollo Justice has a really flawed justice system and one big issue is when the culprit is someone in a position of power and this third case touches on it and goes into it more into the second. I just really wish they made it more obvious how Daryan interfered with the investigation. Yes, you have very little evidence to use but if they showed more of his interference, then I think that flaw would have landed a lot better with people.

    • @ChampionJan
      @ChampionJan 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also in response to what you said, yes the burden of proof is with the prosecution. However, I guess that's supposed to be part of the major flaw? Because it's super unfair for the defense to not only prove the innocence of their victim but also prove an entirely different person's guilt. Idk if that's how it went back in Japan but I do know at the very least that the ridiculousness of the legal system was to be displayed.

  • @brandonedwards6119

    Lamiroir's testimony flummexed me for the whole time because every showed pointed to the murder happening during the third act. Then it's revealed the testimony she was talking about was during the second act? Literally no one in the court questions that apparent contradiction until they after they revealed the vent disappearing act.

    • @MikeTheEntei
      @MikeTheEntei 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I both love and hate how sudden the revelation is. As Klavier said, it's a very thorough turnabout, but the only one who questions it is Daryan. Granted, witness testimony is practically treated like gospel on the prosecution's side until disproven, so it kinda makes sense that the judge would believe Lamiroir too.

  • @pack-gc9gt
    @pack-gc9gt 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Something I've always suspected ever since I played Serenade: there was supposed to be considerably more content to it than it wind up having. If you look into the elements of the case, you'll notice they are eerily similar to Rise From the Ashes; a silent, mysterious woman seeking to protect a child from possible incrimination, a prosecutor directly involved in the case, with the Judge suspecting him at one point, a higher-up behind the scenes of the mystery and is associated to the Judge(chief justice who seeked the Borginian coccons). I'm pretty sure there are even more parallels I'm not remembering at the moment. My claim is, I think this case was meant to emulate RfTA to some extent. Much like Corner longed to capture the investigative aspects of Turnabout Samurai, Serenade subtly exhibits an intention to be an "equivalent" of Rise from The Ashes. What gets me is the part of the plot revolving around the Chief Justice and his son. You'd expect such a central plot point to be further explored, right? Specially this one, since the Chief Justice's inclination to crime for the sake of saving his son paves way for a very interesting theme, which Ace Attorney would typically try to squeeze some sweet drama of. The fundamental point that I want to affirm is: This case discreetly shows it was meant to be more than it ultimately ended up being.

    • @MikeTheEntei
      @MikeTheEntei 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh, that's all a thousand percent true, and your theory makes a great deal of sense. I know that part of this case's climax involves you calling a witness specifically because you don't have any direct evidence, but there's just far too much that would be really cool to see that doesn't get explored at all. Hell, given the Jurist System plot, the idea of a corrupt judge would be a much more compelling and easy-to-understand reason to have a trial run of a system wherein the verdict can't be corrupted by one person, as opposed to what actually happens where a huge double-standard is used to imply that Daryan would get off scot-free due to a lack of evidence.

Many tried to reason why this case would make sense in "the corruption of the law", but then why the hell the game doesn't show that through the protagonist? @@helghast_7203 To be completely fair, children getting accused of crimes they shouldn't be accused of is not new in this series. Although suspension of disbelief may be a bit more maintainable in the prior ones, since they didn't rely on a child having military training. Like Edgeworth was apparently guilty of murder for, what I think might be taken as an accident, or even defense even for an adult, at the age of like 8, and its also a very unlikely situation to begin with. And I seem to remember Ema got accused at a similar age for, again, something mostly out of her control, and complicated. And they do also often accuse people of doing things they would never be able to do throughout the series, like with the Edgeworth defense case, it's almost impossible for any human being to use that sword as a weapon in that way, but they accused Iris anyway. This one is just over the top though. The investigation segments are better. But also the entire plotline seemed a bit weird for the entire case, didn't it?

The setting is cool, the characters act like you'd expect them to (as cliche as this sounds), and it has some interesting ideas (like the mixing board). @@MikeTheEntei AAAJ was indeed rushed, at least that's what I remember reading a couple of times. I don't know if you've played the whole game or not, I'm gonna assume not. Basically, the entire final case would've turned out differently if Takumi was allowed to fully realize his vision. A lot of the characters have also suffered from this (one reason why Kristoph Gavin is so underdeveloped) I don't remember the exact reasons why the game was rushed but...yeah. The final nail in the coffin was Dual Destinies having a different director, as well as pressure from Capcom to bring back Phoenix as the main protagonist, completely abandoning all the characterization done in AJ (Hobo Phoenix, for example).

      @SPACERACECAR666 Oh, I have played through the game numerous times. I did the entire dub on my Twitch before uploading any of this to my YT channel, so that I could refine the YT archive [e.g. by replacing the live Guitar's Serenade takes] and so I could have a vision on the whole game when writing the review. I know that the game, and the fourth case in particular, was basically meant to be propaganda, and I've fallen down a rabbit hole of Japan's legal history. It has been...quite a ride.

    I really liked how they introduced the characters in this case. It really made all the characters feel distinct and alive. I really only have two issues with the case, one you touched on and another I guess we will speak about towards the end of the case. The first problem is how many times they flashback. I know that you have to have many flashbacks in case the player decides to take several breaks in completing the case but my goodness, it makes one sit down session for the case excruciating lol

    • @MikeTheEntei
      @MikeTheEntei 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not as many times as I remember, but this case probably has somewhere close to the most flashbacks to a single event, up there with Bridge referencing DL-6 and Succession referencing...well, we'll get into that later, too.

      Also, I am going to get a LOT more critical of this case. My overall opinion on it is that I love the ideas at play, and think there were a lot of creative risks taken, but that they just don't pay off because they were executed poorly. I feel that way about the game in general tbh

    So Alita... - Was complicit in malpractice - Tried to steal stuff at gunpoint - Murdered the man she tried to steal stuff from before he talked - Broke into and tried to steal the stuff she failed to steal the night of the murder She's probably the guiltiest killer in the game who isn't Kristoph.

    • @MikeTheEntei
      @MikeTheEntei 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To be fair, there are only three options lol and at least Alita almost has self defense. (She had a legal duty to flee the scene blah blah blah) Daryan was also committing crimes, though we don't ever get to know if he was in danger. Presumably he was since him taking LeTouse's gun implies some kind of struggle, but it's never confirmed. But yeah, now that you mention it, there's not that much sympathy that can be given to any of...well, most of the PEOPLE in this game, to be honest. With the exception of Lamiroir and Brushel, pretty much everyone is a criminal of some sort or at least morally dark. Olga helps Shadi cheat, Shadi, of course, cheats, in addition to his actions as Zak, Wesley is a thief, Wocky belongs to the mob, Guy...he's helpful, I guess. Do we count the noodles being too salty as a crime? :P LeTouse is legit, pun intended. Lamiroir is helpful, though she does lie a couple times on Machi's behalf. Machi lies a BUNCH of times, of course. Valant cares more about leaving his magic unsolved than solving a murder, Drew and Vera obviously were involved in forgery...somehow Mike Meekins is one of the most outwardly helpful characters in the game.

      @@MikeTheEntei thats one of the things i really enjoy about Apollo Justice. It's intentionally very morally grey compared to the other games in the series. It shows a very tangible shift with the world of this seven year skip, and how the legal world has changed with the "dark age of the law." Barely anyone in this game is truly innocent, not even the defendants or victims, and they all have done morally incorrect things in service to their goals. Some are more evil than others, but they all have done wrong in some capacity. The only fully innocent people in the entire game are Eldoon, LeTouse, and Lamiroir. And you could make a case against both Lamiroir and LeTouse because Lamiroir intentionally lies and LeTouse is complicit in people's deaths just by virtue of doing his job. It's really interesting to see the shift the dark age of the law has caused, especially since you can see seeds of the dark age earlier on in the series, in cases like 1-5, 2-4, and 3-3.

      I'll be simple but this is such as great slowburn Turnabout. I do recognize the terrible focus on underwear jokes and Phoenix's deal in Apollo's initial solo trial. I generally love the morally grey aspect which most players criticized was lacking on a majority of the series. Especially with Awkardzombie's comics, those are still fun tho. Anyways, most players should see this game improved with real-world indictments to almost anyone, even witnesses. Guilt as confirmed is not on a moral ground but accountability of actions. I would say the original trilogy had the aspects which Dual Destinies considered the "dark age of law". So, with those elements, the aspects of processing law were this game and DD's goals. It's what Kristoph and some final cases of games revolve around. There was in order: Court Control, Failings of the Legal Structure, Workplace Vengeance. Thats what I considered for the first trilogy.

      @@chewviewleonardo6511 This is true. There's a great video about the Dark Age of the Law, going into detail on how that big plot thread of Dual Destinies started in AJ, if not the original trilogy.

    I love both Phoenix and Apollo. Though I agree that Phoenix’s presence overshadows Apollo in this game, I also don’t mind him being here. I … like his character here. Idk I think his fatherly figure with Trucy and his rivalry with Kristoph was very entertaining

    • @MikeTheEntei
      @MikeTheEntei 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think Phoenix being a big player here is inherently bad, but his continued presence greatly stunts Apollo's growth throughout "his" trilogy. Which, again, isn't inherently bad, but there's little need for Phoenix to continue practice law from a story perspective. He's already had his arc, after all. It's cool to have the veteran Phoenix take down Kristoph through a series of calculated maneuvers, and in this game him existing as that veteran is understandable, if not necessary, but it's almost like he wastes time in the 3DS games--his cases could've been given to Athena and Apollo to give them more time to develop. He works fine as a mentor, and I like him having his own case in Reclaimed [and even Turnabout Time Traveler is fine as filler/fanservice], but I think he should've stayed away from the spotlight more in those ganes.

    • @selmabm3409

      @@MikeTheEntei yeah I get the feeling. I was mainly referring to his presence in AA4 specifically since most people complain about this one more and not much about his presence in the 3Ds. I agree he shouldn’t have gotten that much spotlight, and yet, it didn’t bother me personally. I did end up loving Apollo and Athena respectively, especially when they worked together and especially with Phoenix in their final case in DD. I do hope Athena becomes the main lawyer in the next game. And even if Apollo’s arc is completed I wouldn’t mind having him back for a case, since there’s still a plot line yet to be finished for him.
