  • When Lexus says the 2022 NX is all new, they aren't kidding. This generation brings a new 2.4L turbo, a new 2.5L base engine, new transmissions, nearly 40 MPG if you get the hybrid NX 350h, and over 300 horsepower in the new plug-in hybrid NX 450h+.

    Huge step ahead with the updated infotainment. More intuitive and efficient. Keeping your eyes on the road by having the steering wheel menu inputs show up on the heads up display is a subtle and very useful change. This would be the first non-F lexus I'd consider.

      The top trim let's them show off all the options, without having to do multiple reviews. The manufacturer press fleets tend to be heavily high end models.
      I agree with you for less expensive cars, where price is a big factor in buying decisions, but people who can afford a Lexus aren't going to worry that much about a few thousand more or less. If they can't afford the higher trim they should probably not be looking at luxury vehicles. There are perfectly nice alternatives from Toyota and others that cost a lot less.

    We just purchased the 2022 NX 250 with premium package. This seems to be the model that no one reviews. For me as a person who keeps a car forever, the perfect mix. It has a naturally asperated 2.5 liter. No turbo charger to put extra stress on the engine and extra parts to eventually wear and possibly need to be replaced. Also not hybrid to be concerned with battery replacement in years to come. I don't drive a car like I stole it (anymore) so 0-60 times that are 2 seconds less and nearly $10,000 less than the top drive train plug in hybrid are not a concern. There is plenty of power for normal driving, passing, etc. It averages around 30mpg too. I definitely did not want the head-up display that has blank steering wheel controls that change depending on what mode you are in. The 250 has dedicated steering wheel buttons clearly labeled for phone and audio control, cruise control and all of the MID display functions. The premium package adds moon roof, heated and ventilated front seats, foot operated rear power tail gate and other options. One additional option we did get is the gorgeous 14" infotainment touch screen. All in all, a reliable and fuel efficient beautiful car with all the safety and luxury components we could want at a reasonable price.

    Very pleased with what I've seen here, and eager to see an actual 0-60 on the NX turbo AWD. The standard feature content and overall package seem very impressive, and I appreciate Alex pointing out the cargo hold is larger than numbers indicate. All this said, a minor thing that feels like it could be a deal breaker for me, is that oddly unadorned expanse of dashboard that the passenger has to stare at. Surely, Lexus could have done something more interesting there.

      @rrrogster 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      While Lexus/Toyota engines that specify premium fuel will run on regular gas it is NOT recommended by the manufacturer. Turbo engines generally have higher compression ratios and run hotter than a normally aspirated engine by design. If you use regular gas when premium is specified the engine will automatically retard the timing producing less power. More importantly the engine will run even hotter placing additional thermal stresses on the engine and turbo which over time will shorten the life of the engine. There are videos available here on youtube that explain this in detail in you are interested. Saving pennies on fuel compared to replacing an engine - your choice.

    In our testing, we beat the Lexus-estimated acceleration to 60 mph by a full half-second, hitting 60 in 5.5 seconds versus the quoted 6.0-second time. That's quicker than the other 2022 NX models we've tested, but a 2021 XC60 Recharge reaches 60 in a MotorTrend-tested 5.0 seconds. We haven't yet tested a Q5 plug-in, but Audi estimates its model to be just as quick as the Volvo. In case you wonder, the lighter-weight RAV4 Prime matches the NX450h+'s 5.5-second time to 60.
    This means the NX plug-in hybrid is both the quickest NX money can buy and the slowest SUV in its tiny segment.
