I had to get in and drive my car yesterday. And no matter how I did it I still had to lift and bend my knee to get in the the car and it really kind of put a strain on my hip. But I was okay
I am already a wheelchair user as I have a previous spinal injury which made my right leg very weak. Every single video that I have been watching, and all the post op hip replacement instruction that I have found, assumes that your other leg is strong enough to stand on while your operated leg sticks out straight in front of you. Please could you post something that covers people who aren't quite so strong? Getting in and out of a wheelchair without bending is also almost impossible.
Tell me about it. in 2000 I had *BOTH* of my knees replaced at the same surgery. I remember seeing an Occupational Therapist while still at the hospital and her helping me to address going up and down stairs. While I was facing the steps she said, "OK< starting with your good leg.... " I think I swore at her. lol
I would like to point out that a weakness in the operaded leg, must make it hard to lift. I would be thinking a leg lift strap would help???. Also for the person in wheelchair, maybe get the double foot loop strap, and try that. Single or double???.. My Lady is on waiting list and I have taken steps ahead. Brought a car door aid. Sorted a leg lift strap. Brought a long reach lifter. Made a great at door hand rail. Cheers.
