The warning is simple. Stop taking technology, knowledge, and language itself for granted. Instead, use these things to achieve the highest potential that you can, while making the most out of your life along the way. Try that new food. Smoke a joint or two. Go on that date you think you can't get. Take that college class you think you aren't smart enough to take. Write that song you've been too insecure to write. The point here is to maintain a curiosity and respect about life itself, and allow that curiosity to drive your devours. YOUR life is always going to be different than the person next to you. That's why it only takes one person to create change in the world. Everyone has the potential to be great, but many people are not given the opportunity for it. The problem is that capitalism (though not any form of it : it must be productive, creative and entrepreneurial, not merely speculative or rent-seeking) is the only production mode that has proved, and repeatedly so, capable of generating and accepting scientific progress. I personally think you horrifically underestimate just how much we know. Our exponential growth of technology has a sample size of thousands of years from the beginning of our civilisation, and there is still so much we don’t know. Also, although current AI tools are pretty terrible, liquid intelligence networks are also coming into being, and it is likely more flexible and powerful systems could be created.
11:23 I have an idea, if you could create these perfect beings then you could upload your consciousness to this new body, you don’t need to worry about ethic’s because you choose it.
