5. Lane Keep is not Autonomous driving and is not meant to be used as such. My 2019 S5 asks for steering input every 15 seconds, not 10 4. The tire pressure monitoring is a passive system, meaning it doesn't have sensors. It uses the ABS tone rings to let you know you have a low tire...and you will find that sometimes it will tell you which tire...sometimes. 3. Agree, lack of remote start is a disappointment. On my 2021 S5 Sportback I went with 12 Volt Solutions remote start kit. Originally I went with using the key fob but soon realized the range with the key fob isn't that great when you are far from the vehicle. Upgraded to the app and it's perfect simple to install and easy to use!! Comes in handy especially in this Texas heat.
@@HamishCarpenter I did the install myself. Took about an hour and their installation videos are super helpful. It's only been 9-10 days but yes reliable.
Im the opposite, in the winter it gets really really cold so having remote start is critical. However, I will look into what you suggested and possibly make a video about it. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching
I despise that piano black trim, it would be one thing if it got dusty and you could just wipe it with no worries but the second you stare at the trim the wrong way you get scratches everywhere.
Have you looked into VCDS or OBD11 in regards to the lane keep Problem? Keeping a little swifter duster in the door pocket may help with keeping that black trim clean looking. Remote start likely being a problem that it’s not allowed in Europe. Have you tried holding the power button down for like 10 seconds instead of turning the whole car off and back on? There could be a software update available too that may help with connection problem you’re having
I actually looked into OBD11 and it does not let you increase the timeout duration which was disappointing. And I did not think about only shutting down/restarting the MMI, I will try this in the future. Unfortunately, there are no updates available and yeah the remote start is unavailable becase of laws in Germany. Thanks again for the tips!
First, thank you for your videos on the S5. I watched them while waiting for delivery of my 2024 A5 Prestige trim. I love the car, but am frustrated with an ongoing issue with the main MMI screen. It goes black every so often, but other screens work fine. After having to reset the MMI with the volume button, it comes back on. The dealer didn't see any error codes logged, nor did it act up for him - surprise. They checked and it was up to date. Seems to be getting less frequent, or if it goes out, it comes back on within 5-10 min. Sometimes it's on again the next morning. I'm hopeful it will work itself out. I do have remote start on my '24 and my app looked a little different, see if you have the latest app. Again, I do enjoy your posts, keep it up!
is this a stock exhaust you have on your S5? contemplating getting a 2019 audi RS5 compared to a 2022 Audi S5. Both same price just performance vs the touch screen connectivity
I agree with most of your dislikes. However, on the tpms if one of the tire is low on air, the message on the info display will state which tire. Mine said left rear and I checked all 4 but the left rear had lost 10 psi.
I have an '18 S5 and my number 1 dislike is that there is no remote start which is a big deal for me since im in canada, audi remote prices are ridiculous so I bought a plug and play remote start from 12 volt solutions, super easy to install, remote controls are on your oem key fob so thats nice, however you do lose a key for the install.
Yeah where I live snows a lot and gets very cold during winter so I may also look into getting remote start installed. It does suck that you lose a key though like you mentioned.
For the tire monitoring, based on my experience, it did tell me which tire was losing pressure when my tire was actually punched by something. So I would assume if it doesn't say which tire, most likely it is a temperature or tire pressure setting issue, but if one of tires is indeed losing pressure, it's gonna tell you.
Not sure about S5, but RS5 in Europe have default "Tire pressure control display" free base option which is based on ABS sensors and activating only when one of the wheels lost the pressure. There's also "Tire pressure monitoring system" option available for 250 Euro. It monitors the pressure and temperature via individual sensor on each wheel. This data is available anytime on MMI. Guess it could be retrofitted to US-spec S5 as well. P. S. I hate the piano black console insert as well. Ordered carbon center console trim from EZT as a replacement.
I have a ‘22 S5 SB. Of the things you mentioned, definitely the lack of tire pressure monitoring, specifically not telling you which tire needs air is very annoying to me. Even my mom’s 2014 Nissan Altima tells me what the tire pressures are for all four wheels. The lack of remote start isn’t too too big of a deal for me (I live in CA), but it would have been a nice to have considering the price of the car. One gripe from my end is the steering wheel - should have AT LEAST had the leather sport steering wheel from the B9 model. The steering wheel is oversized and obstructs the speedometer view for me.
I had a 21' S5 in turbo blue. Great car, but I really disliked the off the line throttle lag. The seats are overly tight on the width too. The side bolstering of the seats drives right under the armpits, which makes for more exhausting long drives. Nevertheless, the seats themselves are very comfortable.
The throttle lag is definitely there I will say that however, if you let the boost build a bit (hold break and gas) it will be non-existent. And on the highway if you stay in lower gears and in S mode you will also not notice it. But yeah doing all of that each time is not really practical so I feel you on that. And luckily for me I do not have that issue with the seats, so i'm sorry to hear that.
2:00 dude its not a tesla! 10secs is such a reasonable time. plus, what if the lane markings suddenly disappear as ur driving onto an unmarked road?! the car will simply hand all the controls back to you. dont bee so fussy
Yeah I agree. But there are roads where I live that go straight for dozens of miles with perfect markers. I drive those roads alot to visit family so I guess that's why I wish you could have a choice to increase the timeout for perfect roads like that.
I agree with you on 4 out of the 5 points. The connectivity is so annoying especially once you start driving then turn the radio on only to find out its not connecting to the phone. The tire pressure too. You have to check each one to know where the pressure loss took place. Not sure how I feel about the remote start though never had it and can do without it. Just a personal thing though. Hope you enjoying the car still man its a beast.
Yeah Audi definitely missed out on simple things and I agree the phone connectivity is pretty annoying when it happens. As far as the remote start, I live way up north and winters here are brutal, so being able to remote start your car is a must. So I was pretty disappointed when I leaned that I could not. Anyway, thanks for watching and thanks for the feedback!
Came across you videos as I'm looking into leasing an A5 Sportback and would be my first German car, coming from Infiniti for almost 20 years. Currently driving a 2020 Q50 red sport. I can't believe there is no individual tire pressure indicator. Also I'm sad these cars don't have power telescoping steering wheel adjustment.
No remote start wtf is that for a car that costs 60-70K? The car doesnt have TPMS sensors either. It will only tell you if a tire has low pressure. If you're headed to work and get that light good luck. You wont know if the car is leaking air or just low. The cup holder location???? TF is that? Im pissed i bought one and spent the money I did
Hey, I’ve beed doing a lot of research cuz I’ve never owned a Audi but don’t know much about its reliability. I used to drive a lot of them before because I used to work at a Port where they used to drop them off from other places. Is it as reliable as ppl say?
so, during the 3rd month of owning my car it actually died at a red light and would not start. I had to turn it off, open the door and start it again. I took it to Audi the next morning and they said it was a software glitch. Pretty scary I know! however, it's been 4 months and everything has been fine since then. No, it is not. Lack of remote start is deal-breaker for the drivers in north and north east states where the winter is real. Moreover, lack of low tire indicator is serious issue. Currently, in Germany, Idling your engine to heat up the car is not allowed (if you want to heat up your car you need an auxiliary heater which is sold as an option or as aftermarket modification), so most car brands do not offer remote start.
