It’s so so so crazy that Chicago failed this kid. Like bruh he don’t throw w the most anticipation at times okay, while he learns that u can figure out ways to use his arm strength and see it throw it guy untill he developed!! Just insane, and honestly I do think he developed end of last year he was good. But this is different 32 drop backs and only 1 scramble? Cmon, 78% completion like whos this

It's really not that crazy, Chicago is one of the worst franchises in the NFL developing quarterbacks. Their own Jim McMahon coined Chicago as the place where quarterbacks go to die. Nuff said...

Eagles tried that against the Falcons in week 2 and we saw how that turned out.

Justin does not look like a brand new quarterback. He simply has a brand new team. He's always been great !

Respect! One of few vids that goes into whats actually the issue with Justin's game. He's has definately improved by starting his long wind up release by anticipating the receiver coming open in the window of the zones.Because playing Man2Man against Justin without having stud DB'S would be crazy.Good Zone playing defenses normally make Justin look pretty pedestrian.Hopefully the Steelers will continue to nurture his developement because its needed. He's still only averaging 1 TD per game and 17 points which isnt much. The werent gonna pay 45mil for that stat line nor pick up that 5th year option.Hey even the Steelers decline his 5th yr option as well so apparently they see what smart ppl are seeing.

His wind up is weirdly long. I think good defenses will anticipate interception with that long wind up.

And to think we got him for a 6th round pick. Unreal.

Amazing breakdown. Some of the things you mentioned particularly on ball placement to protect his guys absolutely shocked me thru the first 3 weeks. This is something many QB’s struggle with and often get their guys blown up, but Fields has made several plays where At first I thought man he kinda was a bit wide on that throw(and he does have some of those too accuracy isn’t his strongest trait for sure so don’t hear what I’m not saying) but then rewatching it especially from different views I’m impressed with what he’s doing. Arthur Smith and Pittsburgh are a great fit for him and I think he could actually develop into a QB that can be the reason the team wins. Again wonderful video and breakdown. He still has some things to work on…a lot actually but this is not a backup level QB. This isn’t even a “rotational” level player if that was a thing for QB’s. This is a starter and the fact Chicago let him go for a 4th round pick is kinda wild. I kind of understand why DJ Moore wanted and fought for Justin.

On the third play yes Fields is late. But Patterson needs to run the route more crisp and flat. He rounds off coming out of the stem.

Patterson is not a polished route runner by any means and he does a poor job using his wide frame to his advantage.

Correct. If Patterson flattens hit route and comes down a tad that’s a completion. This is why I can’t wait to see Roman wilson start he’ll make those plays .. Patterson was never the best receiver just great with the ball in his hands

That miss on Patterson was also because his route running was shit. Drifted 3 yards up field after the cut. Terrible

💯...not the most polished route runner by any means.

My only take on that first play breakdown is if that corner takes George Pickens up the field then Fields has 20 yds of open space with a blocker

100% Disagree on play 3. Fields wasn't late, the receiver should have flattened the route instead of drifting upfield towards the defender. This is why PFF is trash. The evaluators may know concepts, but they don't know specific assignments.

Fields threw this to the slant cut, if this route was flattened it’s a massive overthrow. The concept here is to bend over the linebacker who’s taking the hitch underneath, sure we’d love a flatter stem but if this ball is on time it doesn’t matter.
