    Hey Derral, this is exactly what I am doing right now. I’ve heard people say “stop wasting your time watching other TH-camrs and create more of your own” but I have realised that I can learn so much from watching the bigger channels :) Thanks for your advice Derral!

    Wouldn't it be wonderful to do as well as Derral and the channel he highlighted. Clocking tens of thousands of subscribers monthly, as well as clinching millions of views on a video, is something we all aspire to. The bit about the tags is interesting also. The information has to state exactly what the video is all about. Great stuff!

      Hello 👋….How are you doing?

  • @drekberg
    @drekberg 6 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    Yes - this is the stuff that makes Derral the professor of TH-cam. Getting my PhD in TH-cam. I love VidIQ and TubeBudd especially before making a video - researching a topic and optimizing tags, titles and descriptions. Love the nuggets you give in the videos too. Will be digging deeper into the browser SEO tools.
    I watch and study the channels in my niche and other niches because you can learn from all channel types. Sometimes watching the ones with 100K subs is better than the million subs Nimmin and McKinnon are perfect examples. Watch who is growing fast and learn from them, but put your own twist on it. A lot of channels that were made earlier (5+years ago) are coasting. Watch the people that grow fast and study what they do.

    I am a 54 yo woman and I started my channel for something to do and I discovered that I love it! I found that I was watching youtube more than I was watching TV and all I can find for older women is makeup and fashion. I am a very bubbly person but I don't want to feel like I'm trying to copy the kids (I'm not) , I find that I have been very subdued on my videos.

    Growth starts with passion, when you are passionate about what you do it will show within your content. Not giving up and creating your own path to success, when you create things you are happy with, it leaves no room for disappointment. Keep creating everyone!

    • @TurboBeads
      @TurboBeads 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      School Of Hard Knocks it appears that you just started, keep in mind that the video you uploaded is in a very saturated niche, it will be harder to rank if others are doing slime videos as well. Also give it time success doesnt happen overnight. Come up with a unique name for your slime series, got the name out and you will always rank. A channel name revolved around what you do will help more as well. Just keep at it, continue to upload, test things out see what works and what doesn't. Its all a learning experience.

    • @YokNg
      @YokNg 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for the reply. I was trying to create something that many people search for. However I soon realised everyone else was making slime videos too. Problem with unique titles is that people mostly won't search for that specific unique name. So i'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

    I am so excited for this series (and definitely have the notification bell on!). It's encouraging to hear the advice to watch other creators. That's what I've been doing since starting off, making it a goal to watch at least ten other vlogs a day and figure out what I like, what works, and also watch channels like this one with advice for creators. Thanks again Derral for all that you do and all your videos.

    • @vidIQ
      @vidIQ 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Congratulations on 100 subs! Which did you think was the most useful tip/tool?

    • @Autmazing
      @Autmazing 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much! For me so far (and I know I'm still super new and learning) for ideas on how to vlog, I think that watching tons of content and just soaking everything up was the biggest and most helpful thing that I'm still trying to find time to do with five kids (whenever they're sleeping, so usually at like 5 am, before they wake up) and then just going out and making videos.
      For growing, I think interactions have been so important, so I try to watch ten videos and then I try to leave at least ten comments that don't have to be super long (LOL, like this one) but that are longer than just basic "great post" type comments that are just a couple words, and I try to look around in the comments for other vlogs that look interesting and check out their content to see if it looks like something I'd like to follow.
      And lately I've just started to realize that it seems like commenting on live videos can definitely lead to new subscribers.

    • @Autmazing
      @Autmazing 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Although I've totally been meaning to check out both Tube Buddy and vidIQ because I keep hearing about both on so many sites and this is a good reminder. I was actually listening to this while running around doing other things, so I want to come back and watch that part again and see the what both offer and if it would be worth it at this point to get either one yet.

    What I’m finding is that some of the bigger and even medium sized gaming content creators may have already covered a topic that I want to go over. Sometimes I have bits that I can add to the topic and other times it would just be retelling the same info but in my own way.
    Should I avoid overly saturated “how to” gaming videos and try to find the bits that are not talked about as much?

    You are a great TH-camr!!!
    Great video! I have been on TH-cam posting my orchestral concerts since 2009. Over all these years (up until now) I was not really trying to get a lot of subscribers, but to let the musicians in my orchestra see and hear the concerts they have played. While I was conducting it was very difficult just to find time to edit the 2-4 camera shoots at my concerts -- very time consuming. I am now going back to edit my concerts that have not been published due to lack of time. I am also adding video series like: Trombone Lessons: How to get back in shape after 30 years off, How to Conduct an Orchestra, and lots more. Your videos are helping me tremendously. They are the first choice for me.
    This February I was removed from the YPP because I only had 631 subscribers. I am now retired from conducting, so I have more time to spend on TH-cam. So, I am trying to get up to 1,000 subscribers to get back into the YPP. Thanks for your advice and I plan to follow it.

    These tools crack open the door behind successful channels and lets you see what they are doing right. For a long time I've tried to grow, and have done most of the suggestions you've put on your channel. This is finally a tool for a channel that is beyond the first stages of making a channel and is giving us real analytic tools to sort and understand the data. I wish youtube offered this, but I'm glad someone does. Thank you for this!

    I’ve been studying YT for the pas two year, I’m kinda stalking youtuber from my field to lean how they deliver info and how professional they are. I have trouble standing in front of a camera and I feel my voice is boring, I need to work on that. And my accent!
    Thank you for the video and those to come, I’ll definitely watch them all.

      Which did you think was the most useful tip/tool?

  • @gloryb-tv
    @gloryb-tv 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love vidIQ. I use it often when I'm studying other people's videos on topics I'm working on. For a while vidIQ was also posting the average amount of money the channel makes per month, but I haven't seen the $$ in 3 or 4 weeks. That was interesting info! I found I was making more money that some channels similar to mine that have more subs than I do. But I do more work on the meta data plus I have more "evergreen" videos that are easily found in searches.
