I hate to admit this, but the only reason I know this band, was because of my English teacher. About 6 months ago, maybe more, we did a ppt about making a movie about a book we read and she was giving me my rubric back, but before I could take it she said, "Our music tastes our very alike, I wrote a band on the back that you might like." The background is so beautiful!!! I remember first hearing this song on the Vampire Diaries, then when I looked up part of the lyrics, I realized it was The Birthday Massacre! I never even knew that band was on TVD they totally match the show ;)
Except for the like 1000 other bands that sound exactly like them. It's a genre that's been around for 40 years. Nothing new and definitely not unique.
BWolfVillage I always thought it was #1: about a schizophrenic woman with Gender Dysphoria (which is possible if they're brought up in that kind of environment that enables it and doesn't get help for them) and, in the heat of a violent Schizophrenic episode where she forgets her pills, kills someone at a party she was at (her own birthday party) and that little voice inside her head (her schizophrenia talking) causes her to clean up the body when she gets blood all over her dress (hence the "black and red dress"). Or, the other way I thought it could be, #2: it has to do with the 1983 horror film Sleepaway Camp in some way. I get a very distinct picture in my mind, whenever I hear this song, about Sleepaway Camp (the original specifically) where the twist is revealed at the end of the film. It was the main, shy, silent girl who was actually the killer (who is further revealed to be a boy and not a girl at all).
What's kinda weird if you think about it is that this song is very dark. It is about a very tragic & egregious event. But, it has such an amazing feel that it pulls you in. Then again, like a Horror Movie, people are attracted to tragedy....BTW, this song is FUCKING AMAZING when you play it FULL BLAST! XD

For some reason, the lyrics and reasoning in this persons mind and how they jump back and forth between a 3rd person and 1st person male and female perspective really makes me believe, even if they deny it, that there was some inspiration taken from those closing scenes in Sleepaway Camp (the original is the best, imo).

Personally, the way the girl is talking, it sounds like she is somewhat uncertain, and the end may be the friend going to get her... So it seems more to me that the girl was duped into it somehow, or slightly possessed maybe, and then the friend tried to kill her. ...on second thought, yours makes more sense up to the end.
