My words will never be able to express the magnitude of my appreciation to even be alive when you were. Mr. Howard, you are a KNIGHT among soldiers. The United States should kneel in your honor. I have done so tonight. RIP hero.
God himself should have picked you up.

Col. Howard...as one of the "protected" I would like to simply say: Thank you for your service, I am deeply in your debt.

His (Howard's) M.O.H. was the fourth for a Special Forces soldier based in Kontum. He deliberately delayed his trip home to Alabama by three days to escort the body of a fellow Green Beret home to MN.

@Rokket "Men like these should never have been used by their country to fight in a political war like Viet nam".99% of all wars are political. He came from when Kenndey said,"ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country."."I fail to understand how VN was ever going to "invade".The domino theory has been verified by former Soviet leaders. We made a stand in Korea. And other places, some won, some lost, yes,at that time it was a danger, just ask my Viet neighbors

  • @Godzgift2uSWED

He probably didn't make it to general becu he got the moh when he was a staff sgt so I'm guessing he went green to gold to make the money he deserved..

That is FALSE that you can only recieve 1 Medal Of Honor. Like Jimmy7779 said, there have been 19 people who have recieved this award twice. He was probably nominated 3 times but only got it once, the other 2 nominations were probably downgraded to Distinguished Service Crosses, which makes sense because he earned 2 of them. Either way this guy is a badass due to the fact that this number of valor awards is very close to unheard of.
