My oldest son would have loved this song. His name was Kenneth Booker and he was killed in Iraq in 2007. He was 25.

Here's a story from when my grandpa fought in Vietnam:
It was my Pop's first night overseas, and he was actually very excited to serve his country. He even got a present upon his arrival, from the Vietcong. They began bombarding the base with mortar strikes. The commander shouted "KILL THE LIGHTS!" My Pop's ran over to the nearest light bulb, and being the badass he was, grabs the light bulb, and crushes it with his bare hands. His comrade said, "You could of just flipped the switch." My Pop's replied, "Well, I was closer to the bulb."

The Vietcong would bombard the base every night with mortar fire. My Pop's had to sleep with one eye open every night. That's when my Pop's got creative. He knew the Vietcong re-used everything they had, and salvaged whatever they found. So, my Pop's takes a mortar shell from the armory, and does a little tampering with it. Then in the morning, as he was doing some scouting with his comrades, just leaves the shell in the middle of the trail, and hikes off with the rest of his team. That night, he was playing cards with his buddies, and a single, lone explosion, is heard in the distance. One buddy says, "What the hell was that?" My Pop's responds, "Don't worry about it, I just took care of something."

I don’t care what anyone has to say my dad was a 23 year battle hardened army proud man.he passed a couple of months ago and this song makes me cry it reminds me of him.as a proud father my self I could never fill his shoes or any armed forces for that matter.thanks for all the armed service and the wonderful life. as a military kid I never felt alone the military took extremely good care of us thanks 155th battalion and thanks to all combat engineers.
