    Cracking video mate. One question I do have is, are there not still tracks in the cutting from under Kirkdale station that runs round the north of Stanley Park? Surely that could be expanded or reopened, and that would just leave the walk through the park to get to Anfield. Pretty sure it's an old goods train line that connects up at Wavertree?
    I do tend to agree though that any rail link option will end up being too expensive and so not feasible 😢
    Keep up the good work mate, YNWA

      Thank you so much, just frustrating that possibly not much track could be needed yet will probably be very expensive to sort even for new owners but hopefully something can be planned - YnWa

      @chrismoran4307 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Yes the track is all there. It's still used for goods and draks. It's the old bootle line and there used to be a station where it crosses townend avenue called Breck Road.

      The track actually already has a link to the Southport line in-between Bank Hall Station and Bootle Oriel Road.

    A brand new station at the junction of Cherry Lane and Utting Avenue seems the best option because there is already land there ready for a car park and station buildings and it's not too far away from the stadium. This would be on the line from Lime Street to Merseyrail's Southport line via Bootle and Seaforth. To make it viable, the footfall would have to be more than just match days but seeing as it's in a built up area, it seems like a good idea to me.

  • @TheLiverpolitan
    @TheLiverpolitan 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +8

    Love this!. The council are seriously looking at opening the Canada Dock Branch Line (the line nearest Anfield) to passengers as it's route goes through suburbs that would really benefit from a rail line, however the nearest point that route goes to the stadium is where it crosses over Utting Avenue. Tunnels and overhead railways are too costly and an overhead (monorail) would never get planning approval. What might be possible is a tram from any new "Anfield" station, up Utting Avenue and Arkles Lane right into the stadium, the tram tracks would be placed on the existing road and could carry on passed the stadium down to the Northern Line linking the stadium to both lines and be great for those communities improving transport links on none match days x

    • @greybeardmedia-merseysidebey
      @greybeardmedia-merseysidebey  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thank you so much this is something more I'd love to look into more but overhead, monorail certainly will cost many millions

    • @brianroberts18
      @brianroberts18 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The tram up Utting AV sounds the most realistic. It's how you integrate with the rail network ? You don't want to shift hundreds of people from a train to the tram if it can be avoided

    Thank you for your video, Grey Beard Media. I recently visited Bangkok and was impressed by its excellent elevated train network that runs above the roadways. This type of infrastructure is a great solution for busy, congested city streets and could serve as a catalyst for improving public transport connections throughout the city.

    I would love the stadium to expend i hope it won't take to long as i have been in Liverpool twice but ever got to see our boys play at anfield because to get a ticket is difficult, but this gives me hope. Anyway thank you for the cool video of this things you don't get to see from the streets. Thx Greybeard!

    @jeffbruce1174 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    The Cherry Lane/Utting Ave idea seems to be the only solution. Is that rail line still in use? I’m not sure where that line leads to? I think it carries on towards Clubmoor but there is also a railway bridge over the roundabout at Broadway. If the council could utilise the existing track as far as it will go with a regular train service to that area and then maybe have a seperate extension from Cherry Lane that will run up the central reservation at Utting Ave to the top of Arkles Lane on match days. It would also give the local Anfield and surrounding area a transport boost.

    What we need to do to be realistic is to extend the Liverpool Overhead Railway and take in Anfield and maybe Everton and the income to finance this project will be mainly financed by the Foreign Tourists that will certainley flood into our City as long as Mr Steve Rotherham signs it off ?

    Hi, The only feasible place for a new station near Anfield would be where the old Clarence hotel pub used to be on the corner of Utting Avenue and Cherry Lane. Google maps shows a temporary William Hill shop there. As you mentioned for that line, it stops before it reaches Kirkdale Station and there appears to be houses in that gap. Not sure if there is already a tunnel somewhere in that area. That will be the biggest problem…..mind the gap as they say! You wouldn’t expect crowds to be able to walk through the cemetery/crematorium via Stanley Park to the location were you stood near the abandoned line. They already have the Soccerbus to and from Sandhills station. Those suggesting more buses or trams obviously don’t know the roads around Anfield very well, they’d just add to the traffic queues, especially after the game.

  • @nollogs2

    Seems like UTD are getting Gov funds for work around the new stadium, roads, rail etc.. If they can get this kind of funding, I'm sure LFC can get similar funding to work the facilitation of a railway to Anfield and road works

  • @martinsloman6905
    @martinsloman6905 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

    I would forget about having a station adjacent to Anfield. It would be far too expensive and couldn't be justified as it would only be used to its full capacity for a couple of hours ever fortnight during the season.
    The best chance is with re=opening of the Canada Dock Branch to passenger services with a new station at Utting Avenue - around 15 minutes walk from the stadium.
    The line is currently only used for freight to and from the Port of Liverpool. It would probably need re-signalling to add the capacity for a frequent passenger service. You would also need to re=open former stations at Tuebrook and Spellow to justify a service.
    This has been proposed for years and would be very expensive but the easiest way to get rail access to Anfield.

    IF the Kop was ever getting extended I would suggest it won't be over the road. The road will more than likely move out to the church side. There isn't much over there and doesn’t have to move much and can then rejoin further down. A natural curve on it can accommodate a bigger Kop

    Another good job mate, Your videos are top notch. I was thinking, is there any possibility for a rail line coming from the north, less congested there. I find there is a rail line (unused; I see no platforms along it?) going from Edge Hill around the northeast and coming along Cherry Lane. What about a feeder station there that could be connecting even closer to Anfield, that wouldn't require even a mile of track to lay, skirting Stanley Park ... or am I totally "wild and crazy"? I guess going underground is out of the question (under Pinehurst Avenue)? As Cpt Mainwaring would say "beyond the realms of fantasy" I guess ... any way, keep up the brilliant work You are doing!

    Anyone saying not to re-purpose the rail line on utting avenue and cherry lane as it would be too expensive is LYING, the council just want to be bought off as they was with Evertons new ground, the Clarence land has also been abandoned now for 10 years + any council with a brain would have put a compulsory purchase on this by now. Apparently, last year they considered putting "affordable housing" on the land but got blocked (wonder who did that LFC?). Anybody with serious contacts should be forcing the issue, as the line could run right up to the airport make it a joint endeavour as the airport falls under the council which they are forever expanding and would prove cost effective long term? Anybody with CURRENT knowledge of what is going on please let us know as it is WAY overdue, thanks for the video keep it up as it applies pressure for answers!

    @alecpendleton2336 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    The line at the end of video is a line that connects the docks with Wavertree Junction (used to), around to Lime Street, there was a Merseytravel plan about 15 years a go to reopen this line with a number of stations being built along the line to reopen areas that are not severed by the rail network. So a new station down by were Taskers used to be could be built and a service could be run from Lime Street to Kirkdale

  • @steveamurray59

    Maybe a Tunnel but not just for Anfield, it would have to go somewhere after that.

  • @user-zh9kc7tw4n
    @user-zh9kc7tw4n 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    The line at the north of Standly park goes underneath the houses and under the Kirkdale station north underground of Bank Hall station and joins the track towards heading north. You would have to build a new station underground at Kirkdale for it and you would need to go under the Cementary and build a link to an underground station by Anfield road and then circle back following Utting Avenue and turning back east following Pinehurst Avenue, you could use the old technec of digging up the a tunnel and then coverning it again through that bit but you would need tunning under the cementary and you could get say the Boring company to drill that short bit under the cementary. It is plausable but it would not be cheap

  • @peterrfowler16

    Really depends on how the Kop can be redeveloped. Its not much shorter than the new AR end which I was surprised about. An expansion would be more important than winning the league in my opinion.

    I don't need to be told because I'm already aware it's nuts... but if future owners wanted to make a "statement", why not a touristy monorail from one of the existing stations that need linking. Could be operating constantly on match days etc, and every now and again other times for stadium access, but it would negate some of the logistical issues (while creating a whole host of others obviously!) But if it was a "money is no issue" sort fo owner I doubt that this would need to be an LFC project so it could be "independently" financed. Would be a heck of a sight :D

  • @wirralnomad
    @wirralnomad 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    To be honest lad, you got more chance linking Everton's new stadium up to Sandhills via an overhead railway and then continue it up to Anfield, it would have to be Maglev for noise reduction, but it's all just pipe dreams.
    If it was possible in any slightest way at all then it would have to start on Regent Road outside Bramley Moore Dock and along to Sanden Way, cut over the top of the trading estate there and joining onto Sandhills Lane at the junction of Derby Road and up to Sandhills, and then from Sandhills it could continue up to the top of Sandhills Lane and cutting the corner of Sandhills Lane and Commercial Road just after the Liverpool/Leeds Canal and then on up Lambeth Road all the way to Smith Road cutting across Smith Road and over the top of the five-a-side pitches there, and then on up Everton Valley and along Walton Breck Road.
    It would probably be easier, much cheaper, less inconvenient to traffic flow when it comes to constructing it all, and totally feasible and practicable, but the one problem there would be is all of the residents that will complain about either the reduction of light to their properties or the ugliness of their view from their windows, also privacy with passengers looking into their windows, but if all of those issues could be overcome then it could be made even more cheaper all round if cheaper both Everton and Liverpool invest in it all as a business so that both clubs profit from the fares, and if Liverpool City Council were to contribute then they would even earn a cut of the profits as a business partner.
    Like you said, visitors could easily land at Lime Street, take the Wirral Line to Central and swap to the Northern Line to Sandhills and then change there for the overhead to both grounds, or direct to Sandhills from the Airport and again change there for the overhead to both grounds, like I said, it's a pipe dream and that's all it will ever be, but if it were possible then to me this is the only reasonable way around it.

    Only realistic train route is using Canada Dock Branch line but thats a freight line. Headbolt Lane station in Kirkby on an existing passenger train line cost £80M - its not happening in the lifetime of someone born today particularly with Everton moving out of Goodison there's even less of a business case.

      @greybeardmedia-merseysidebey No I meant the city in general. It's got no rail service from Kirkdale right over the other side to Edge hill, as far as football ground access is concerned. Outside fans coming in used to think Anfield would be round the corner from Lime st, and found only a football special bus from St. John's gardens challenging, especially the more recent English club fans. An over head shuttle from the docks could work, passing Lime street, but then it's a very steep angle out of the city to Anfield, whichever direction they try 🙃

      They own the first 4 on Skerries Road. The rest are privately owned. They won't be selling I can assure you. My mate lives there. No one will move unless they are offered serious dough. But it would take years and years as everyone knows that sitting tight and playing the waiting game will get you more money. I spoke to the stadium manager a few years ago, he said 61,000 is where it will finish and there are no plans whatsoever to expand the SKD stand or the Kop. We were the most successful team in the country with a capacity of 45,000. I think we will be ok as Anfield is now TBH. They would only price new seats out of the reach of locals and it would just become even more of a Disneyland of tourists that don't respect or care to understand the traditions of our great football club.

      Nor should they, the city Council benefit from the infrastructure changes and the money brought into the local economy

      @Shroft112 If the city council benefits, then the community benefits.
      I am shocked to hear you give the Liverpool City Council a free pass because their primary role is to provide essential services to the citizens, manage local development, and work to improve quality of life for its residents within the Liverpool area.
      I agree their service delivery sucks but surely, with major investment, the most likely outcome is an improved service delivery.
      According to you, there should be no investment in the Liverpool area because the city council will benefit.
      Or
      Is this a failed attempt to defend the ownership? We both know the owners do not invest or take money out of LiverpoolFC.

    Hi , just wondered where you stand on the fact that Man Utd who have the larger capacity ground probably around 76000 and I always feel that we should aim to get Anfield larger than that. If we were able to have the Kop rebuilt so that it straddles Walton Breck Road and obviously a new Sir Kenny Dalglish stand would usurp that figure I guess but obviously this will take a long time. It just annoys me that Old Trafford has the bigger capacity

      Would love to have the kop rebuilt or just bigger in some ways but until a way is found in getting a better transport network in place I feel we will be waiting a long time while Man United are talking about a brand new stadium build

      @ yeah I think you’re spot on, it’s not going to be a quick fix regarding the railways set up. It’s just crazy that our world famous Kop is now the smallest stand we have. Definitely needs to be at least 20000 capacity and like Dortmunds yellow wall for intimidation.

    As mentioned by few already the Canada dock line is the only solution and is often mentioned, Rotherham often speaks about it. You could have stops on Utting Avenue, Walton Lane and Maiden Lane for the matchdays, Tuebrook is too far to walk I think. The line is there, you just need to sort platforms/stations/walkways and links at both ends. It would be of course open to the public 7 days a week, which would help with costs. The next close(you didn't mention) North Liverpool link(passes through Broadway and Cherry Lane) has never been mentioned, as for Kirkdale/Sandhill links its fantasy I'm afraid, more chance linking a line to the moon!

    It doesn’t have to be a train line, you can put extra buses on.

    You never showed EVERTONS BRAMLEY MOOR ‘new build ground but concentrated on LFC -ground Utting AVENUE - CHERRYLANE is closest ril link so maybe think of that as the cheapest option it’s only a short walk for everyone -
