Fishing with your old man is such a cherished time !! Unfortunately, my old man, and my Mum left us quite a while ago but I learnt alot as a kid growing up from him and my Mum as well. I now pass a lot of what I`ve learnt to my now adult kids and enjoy any time they can come fishing and camping with me!!

Great content once again thanks Sammy. Now I'm sure I'm about to step on a landmine here, but I'm going to say I'm not a fan of the Alvey Reels for tailor fishing. As you point out they nearly always run at you after striking & IMO you just can't retrieve line fast enough to keep solid line tension, but I love using my Alvey for the bread and butter species. For Tailor I use the humble Penn Spinfisher 650, it's the Alvey of the thread line reels.

The IGFA All Tackle World Record for tailor stands at 31 lb 12oz (14.4 kg) landed by James Hussey near Hatteras, North Carolina.
And we have fished and netted ours to almost extinction. Bugger all any size to them most times, and I'm giving up on Noosa North Shore and Fraser island where they aren't worth chasing anymore.

That reel has me all kinds of confused lol. I have never seen anything like it, let alone for surf fishing. Damn Aussies... your seasons, toilet spin and fishing reels are all backwards haha jk. Good stuff man.

You eat those ?? Where I'm from we live line them that size for sharks or strip bait for flounder and chuck them in the crab pots, but don't eat them, way to fishy taste
