I drove an 89 Buick Skylark when I graduated high school in 95'. All these kids who were crackhead derelicts got brand new cars and in my imaginary head were I though money grew on trees that surely I would be getting one too. I was on the dean's list, worked at McDonald's every day after school closing at 1 am, and all day on both Saturday and Sunday, not actually falling asleep, after eating dinner(actually just cramming mcdonalds leftovers down to had something on my stomach because I was starving by that point in the wee hours) and homework until like past 3 am. Then getting up at 6 AM for school and to do it all over again. When they surprised me with the Buick on graduation week one morni g that had 150k plus miles on it they thought I was going to be so happy and greatful and fact is I was devastated and died on the inside...
Love this scene so much, this proves that American Dad is still funnier then modern Family Guy, but that's my opinion. Also anyone gonna talk about how that Buick they escaped in is actually a pontiac?- or either steve just assumed every car there is a buick
Is it, though? I'll just assume you know more about cars than I do, but I didn't see a Pontiac logo on it. (Or even a Buick logo, it just looked like a vague, non-descript logo.) I would say that maybe it just looks like a Pontiac and not a Buick, but don't car makes share models between each other within the grander company that owns them? Pontiac and Buick are both GM, aren't they, have they never shared models or had similar designs? And I definitely agree that American Dad is funnier than modern Family Guy. It's so much more well written and everything. I even think the animation might be better, even though they visually look pretty much the same.

Something similar happened with Herbie in the original Love Bug, VW did not allow permission for Disney so they had to take all the VW emblems off, even though he's obviously a Volkswagen Beetle Also yes, I have noticed AD seems to have better animation quality and effort
