It's July 2019 and Vogel just wandered into my backyard (southern WI), shooting the 54th string at 491 miles....2 shots from retention under 4 seconds. What a shooter!!
People outside the competition world often fail to understand the sort of skill levels possible. Vogel is demonstrably a full order of magnitude more skilled than police officers capable of "perfect" qualification scores. "The same Glock 35 I carried as a police officer, same one I won my first national championship with in 2007." Something to consider next time someone rants against match/competition gear.
What you do not understand is this is the “minimum requirement”. Many of officers, including myself, continue their firearm training into more specialized courses, some taught by military, SWAT or even SF dudes I’ve trained with. OPOTA maintains the guidelines, who makes this test. It is not nearly enough but I know plenty of guys that shoot and train much more than required.
@@seannolen3445 Good points. Yes, some police and military personnel do seek out more than minimum requirements, or even more than "perfect" qualification scores. Vogel is one example and you are as well. However, many others are not so motivated. I'm confident you personally know some.
FUNshootVideo Oh absolutely. It’s almost frightening to be on a shooting line with some guys I know. Same goes for subject control training. I train Jiu Jitsu and wrestling and have for years. Other guys couldn’t fight their way out of a wet towel
+Brian Manges I agree. What a joke the real qual is. I wonder if it has always been so easy or just got dumbed down over the years. How can 2 to body 1 to head at 3 yards in 6 seconds even be a standard for a professional. Sad. Very sad.
You'd be surprised how bad some armed "professionals" are with handguns. When I was in AIT we had a DS do the handgun Qual with a handful of rocks. He scored 50/50. About a quarter of the soldiers had to try atleast twice...
Maybe in the future, you can split the screen to show the target hits as it’s happening. That would be cool. I would love to see you fire the entire Qual at regulation distances as fast has “Vogelly” possible! LOL You are an inspiring amazing shooter and thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!!!
That is damn good shooting. Its very interesting to see him run a police qual in this manner and step away for a moment from IPSC and shooting drills. Impressed.
"We" (shooters and instructors) need more of these! Please. Request: Can you run through it the normal way just to set the example and let your OH people see it? The biggest complaint I get (in NC) is that people going into Law Enforcement or Security say: "Can we have, learn, and practice the Courses of Fire? What's the big mystery?" Thanks to Anthony Magnum for sending me a link to this!
That's the skill I would like to have. I respect anyone who goes that far from the target and still hits it. Hate it when people say that 20 yards is already too much for a handgun, despite it being lethal from way farther away
Yes! More videos please!! I have two of your Panteao videos, and I enjoy them very much. You're an excellent instructor and very good at explaining things. Also, great quality, captions, and editing on the video as well.
I am going to try this police qual. Maybe cut the times in half but only double the distances. I think that will be a good start for me. Thanks for this!
Super well done sir Vogel.. saw you in italy ... got a question for you ... do you rely on fiber optic sight? i'm always concerned about that.. i use stock glock sight thou .. btw polenar tactical here too ... not strange ,, hi guys from polenar too
I'm horrified that the standards for Ohio police shooting qualification are so low, especially when you consider that as long as they pass this stupid-simple test they aren't required to do any more training- and most don't. I can't fathom this- if I were in a profession in which my life might depend on my shooting skills, you can rest assured I'd attend every class I could afford. Hell, I shoot as much as I can as it is!
National average for cop shoots is 25%. And with a 17% chance per round HIT of being lethal (able to force stoppage), that means cops don't have stopping power on average even after 17 rounds!
Without a doubt Bob V is incredible at what he does, but this video seems to be a cutting critique on the lowest common denominator qualification more than anything else...
Huge recoil, huge shot to shot variance on point of impact, tiny holes, sparatic patterns, and slower rate of fire. Tell me again why 9mm is not a better carry option. Tell me again what one gains from a larger caliber?
Sir, I saw a video in youtube gameing. (gaming.th-cam.com/video/IZmjfJ_iGmc/w-d-xo.html) And apparently it's a reupload of this video with Chinese subtitle. So.....did you give them permission to do so?
So what is the point of this video? To show how fast an accurate you are? It comes across as showing off to me. If anyone put the time an energy you do at the range they'd be just as good. Plus a Glock 34 is not a standard glock. It's Glocks competition gun with a longer sight radius an match barrel.
em Burgess it's showing other LEOs how easy the normal qualifications are so he is challenging himself by making it harder. The point is get out and practice more than just annual quals.
The point is that you can take any drill and modify it to become more difficult. He modified this very easy drill to challenge even him. And the drill isn't intrinsically bad, the things asked are pretty standard in all police and mil drills. You just have to adapt de distance and times to make it properly challenging.

3 years old but still comment of the year. Good on ya
July 2023, Bob has made it to South Africa, shooting his 9754th string at 8528 miles... Draw, strong hand only, 4 shots under 4 seconds.
Some big cajones on that attacker......
Those are his kidneys.
@@SamuelAltidor you mean pelvis?

I'm more amazed at how ridiculous the original "qual" was in the first place.

Wow Bob Vogel.. outstanding.. your videos are the best.. I improved my grip dramatically watching your other videos.. thank you Sir
You are a true Professional.
Master revolver 1985.Back in my crime fighting days..Damn Im old

Amazing.
Your comment was unexpected

A master at his craft.
Absolutely awesome! Thanks for sharing this challenge! I will try this one soon for sure!
Raising the bar like a Beast.. Your skills are amazing..
Thank you Mr. Vogel. Please post more videos.
Watching Bob always makes me want to head to the range
Let's go!
"We" (shooters and instructors) need more of these! Please.

I had an awesome time shooting with you on that range Robert. That makes me want to get out and train. Good shooting sir!
Shot with him on this range too.
Great video, I love watching people do police qualifications
And that he did it using 40 duty ammo not 9
All I can say is WOW!!!! Congrats on some serious shooting.
That's the skill I would like to have.

Nice groupings, especially at those ranges and times.
I'd really like to see bodycam footage from a firefight he participated in. Something tells me he would do pretty well
I tried this at the indoor range, substituting a 25y USPSA headbox for the stuff where I didn't have the distance. God damn that was hard.
hope to see you in kenya.
Great shooting. One complaint for the challenge though, how many LEO carry without any retention device on their holster that is on their duty belt?
bkchk45 Depending on the specific design, it shouldn’t t make a large difference
A level 3 holster would probably slow him down by only 0.1 to 0.2s on draw
That's a great video! I'm going to have to try that. We still shoot the "TRC" Tactical Revolver Course :)
Ya 87% of my dept would have its creds and guns pulled under these times and distances Hahahahaha. Great stuff man.
Thanks for sharing Mr. Vogel
And he does this with 40 is the crazy part!
The next time we shoot the OPOTA quals, I’m making everyone watch this first.
Ha!
Regards,
Marky
That is insane man. Well done
Well I found my battle buddy! Wow.
Damn I live in New Jersey
Wow Wow Woww! Our law Enforcement should learn from him.

I want to see jerry miculek do this exact drill.
You are the man.
Amazing skill!
That was so awesome, I was laughing.
"okay guys nos que ate going to do the 5 string, normally they do it at two feet but we ate going to do it at a mile and in another temporal space"

Great shooting! I wouldn’t pass :(
Can someone please tell me what holster is that, I've been looking for a holster that works with a Glock 17 and the Glock light laser
Nice holster
This guy made the police qual exam 10x harder and still had no problem... is the police exam way too easy to pass?
Well there's 3 people I know can do that as easy as you did. You, you & you.
Nice job there Robin hood..👏😎
Without a doubt Bob V is incredible at what he does, but this video seems to be a cutting critique on the lowest common denominator qualification more than anything else...
Total BOSS!
It’s a shame that the follow up shots with that 40 cal were so slow for him. Sarcasm?
Are you talking to me?
holy shhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
gold spear dot hurts my wallet sooo bad
Unreal!
Holy crap!!!
Forgive me i’m italian. Is this the police training in the Us?
Vogel rocks!
Helen Keller could pass the original qual... JESUS
It took me twice to do the FBI..I think it should be the minimal to get a CCP....
This Targets are not allowed in all States......its hard if you live in a Pussystate......we have to use the regular ones from IPSC
That’s pretty crazy Bob
And the silhouette is 5 times bl
DAMN!
Boss.
Ama-ching!
Nice
wow!
👍🏻⭐🔥👑
Shouldn't the Ohio police qualification course target look like Tamir Rice? I mean the targets should at least appear as unarmed people.
Don’t bring a replica toy gun to a gunfight.
Wow
*PD Qualifier is rather lame, but then I see a bias to allow unqualified women to pass!*
I'm laughing out loud. Your a jerk. Excellant shooting!
10 times harder and makes it look like absolutely fuck all....animal ;)

Benjamin Maynard
You're wrong. Congradulations
I can shoot that with a perfect score regularly and maybe even if I had half the time but at 5x the range????? Absolutely not
with an easy ohio test, i bet most officers think its so easy, no need to train.
