    For those who have never been to nursing school it’s like 60+ hours a week of class/clinical time and then you have homework. Plus, most people try to work part time to pay off the colossal loans they are accruing. Asking about quitting means his/her heart might not be fully in nursing anymore, it’s not about the hours.

'you should be able to do a workout in 2 and a half hours that will leave you so exhausted you go home uncomfortable and wait for the next morning to come... so why couldnt you do nursing??' because those two and a half hour workouts make you a bit useless at those 12 hour standing shifts on the back end, good sir.

  • @ednorton1853
    @ednorton1853 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Well said Chael. I played amateur open hockey for 38 years. And at the open level I can tell you most have no clue how grueling it is on the body. If you are practicing 3-4 days a week with 1 - 2 games in there as well that is 6 days a week, about 2.1/2 hours a day. Our practices were full blown scrimmages for 2- 2 1/2 hours and you were spent after wards. At 4 - 6 days per week year round and after 3 - 5 years of that beating over and over getting hurt and never fully healing. To recover we would do a regular season, and then spring league at 2 days a week, only to stay in shape. So you would have June, July, August, of just 2 days a week. That was the rest time of the season. Sept. you were back at it 4-6 days . You had to take that rest about every 3 - 5 years. At the open level know body played just the regular season. Spring was a must to stay in shape and most of us played a couple more days if we could find ice on the off days. But yeah, at a high level 2 - 2 1/2 hours a day and that is all you need at any given sport. Anymore is counter productive IMO

    Here's the thing though. You can always go back to school. You only have a small window of your athletic prime. But you have to be unusually great to be successful in professional mma. If your school work is suffering because you are obsessing about training while you should be studying, then what good is wasting time and money in school? Whatever you feel driven to do, do it. That way you won't look back later and have regrets.

    If you cant sustain yourself with fighting, then keep a job or go to school and train, if you can’t train AND work a job/school then you don’t truly love it!! The key is having a flexible work schedule. I train for MMA twice a day, five days a week, sleep as much as I need to, but still work 40 to 50 hours per week doing Uber and Lyft. Getting paid to sit in the car and drive people around LA (when I choose to) does not interfere with my MMA training or competing in the slightest.

    1. Even if you only train 2.5 hrs a day, you’ll consume at least another 1.5 hrs to commute to:from the gym etc.
    2. There are very few legitimate MMA schools in MI. They may be considering putting school on hold in order to relocate to an area with a more robust MMA infrastructure.
    3. Nursing school, depending on the type of program, can entail a very intensive time requirement. An accelerated program can involve as much as 45-50hrs per week of classroom and clinical time.

    • @JackRabbitSlimz1

    Certain sports require min 6 hours a day to get to a pro level maybe not fighting but like you mentioned golf if your not hitting balls or on the course 6 days a week 6-10 hours a day you have almost no chance to make it to a professional touring pro level. You could never ever never be a pro golfer playing 1-2 hours day would never happen.

    I'm a Nurse. We're supposed to work 3 days a week and 12hr shifts(most of us). With that schedule its def possible to train MMA cause I do it right now. But I o ly do it for the training and cause I love combat,I'm bot competing. It is possible I believe to compete as well,just have to have a solid mind and discipline on those four days off to train and eat right. I have a male friend nurse who also does MMA,I wonder if he was the one to ask Chael hahahah I swear it was probably him

    In my opinion you can drop out of school but see it only depends on how hard and long you will be practicing im 13 i have not been training yet but i know what i can do and im dropping out mostly because school teaches you to become an Employee not a Ceo or a pro Ufc fighter school is not worth anything

    I agree with Shale's general message, but I doubt that any top athlete in most disciplines can get where they are with only 2 x 1h30 training per day. Pro MMA fighters train more than that, Muay Thai fighters train much more than that, etc.

    I dont think Chael knows that nursing school is basically 60+ hours a week of studying/school. I get what he's saying but nursing school isn't as easy as it sounds.

But could you do a video about... why using jui jit su & counter striking is a bad strategy cause i noticed if anderson silva hadn't had relied on counter striking and jui jitsu so much he'd probably still be a champ ... idk but i know you'll know what i'm trying to point out.. ppl who rely on ju jitsu get out pointed everytime.. pls repl yes or no so ATLEAST know you saw this comment ....
