I already work in computer repair and am learning micro soldering after our previous microsoldering guy left. It helps to find some cheapo stuff for a home kit to practice with and your videos have helped immensely already.
Congratulations Alyzire, you were selected randomly as the winner. Could you get in touch via email at hello@consolefix.co.uk or contact me on my discord server so I can arrange for everything to be sent to you :)
Hey everyone... Good luck to you all. Thank you all for being very supportive over the past few months, it's really been a roller coaster and I genuinely appreciate it
i really wanted to enter the giveaway but considering that i already have a cheap soldering station same as vince i dont really think that that coul be more useful to me than another person that might not be able to afford them. the only thing am interested in is the microscope really and i would not sayno to the flux twezer etc. but not the iron and hot air. if Philip happens to read my comment can you pls answer me if something can be done for my instance? if not i would not want to enter the giveaway for the only reason that someone may need the iron and hot air more than me as i have a soldering station and a uni.t multymeter.
Hey mate be great to hear how you learnt your craft and some general tips and tricks for various devices , perhaps a short video , think community would appreciate
@@TheCod3r yea i just can not find a reason to get non consumable tools that i already have most when they cost 150 pounds or so when am only interested in the miroscope that one pare of microscope glasses costs 10 eu from aliexpress and i also have a phone with a generally good camera. i dont consider that fair
Absolutely true that you don't need a lot of money. I started in 2014 restoring vacuum tube testers with a $40 iron, a meter, and pliers. The best thing you can have besides money is the will to learn and the fundamental understandings of electrons and Ohms-Law.
Look at all these comments! Look how well your channel has grown! Once again, great work! I’ve been there with the claiming of job seekers, I’m now living comfortably after working hard. Keep it up!
Man, i was in IT (outsourcing and small computer repair shop) for 14+ years when i started to feel bored to do ONLY swapping faulty shit. So i went into microsoldering probably a year ago, and i'm enjoying every little basic thing (for example jumping backlit fuse, or finding shorted cap)! Definitely saved my path in IT as i got really bored with doing the same shit every day. Not get me wrong, i was happy with money, i have a lot of loyal customers, etc. But it started to be really boring. This helped me a lot. KUDOS

"cheapo" It's way to try. Looking at your videos and my mate vince videos I wish I could try something like that. It's wonderful to bring something back to life.
I don't know if I would use the word cheapo. I do enjoy your videos. I have learned a lot from watching them. Enough that I have successfully replaced the p13usb chip on 2 Nintendo switches that I purchased for$40 US dollars each and they are both functioning perfectly. So thank you.
Amazing “CHEAPO” lot of goodies! Just starting out my micro soldering journey after spiralling down the rabbit hole of restoration videos from you and Tronic haha. Great stuff, thank you for the education!

I have a soldering/smd station since april and having a absolute blast with it is the Aoyue 968A+ maybe not the cheapest cheapest but one i can recommend for sure!
im using the T12 for years, very very happy with it and has enough power to do all of the jobs, great piece of kit to have and the tips are very good quality for the cheap price they are.
Hello Phil great video showing basic products what can do repairs.gutted I didn't see this sooner to entre the give away.but I hope the lucky winner is very happy to receive these products.
That's so cool you did that showing us you don't need to spend a lot of money to get started honestly i thought it would take up more space then it did.
What helps me in the learning to repair studies is finding tossed out or curbside electronics for solder, hot air, and other hands-on experience. Not doing it for a living (I work full time at a gym equipment warehouse) but for a good rewarding hobby. Found a Dell Vista PC to-day. Thanks for the tips & good selection! I like the desktop microscope!

Code word cheapo I have just been made redundant as a computer engineer and I’m taking some time to improve my micro soldering. I have been looking for cheaper equipment so this video has given me the confidence that the cheaper equipment is ok to start with and then upgrade as I get more experience. Even if I don’t win the give away I will be looking at the equipment you used.
You're a legend and very kind hearted to do a giveaway like this! Might be "Cheapo" but this could start some else onto better things just like you have done 👍
I am really glad to have found your channel recently. I am a cheapo and always thought getting into surface mount work I would have to spend a lot on equipment.
Nice little setup, the benefit of going into microsoldering repairs too. Is that you can buy fancy equipment for cheap because it's broken and potentially repair it too. I've learned to buy the better equipment now to save money in long run. Buying a Hakko soldering station next Chinese ones are OK, but much prefer the better stuff. Starting to look more into this kind of stuff because I get bored of working for employers
Phil, the microscope image is greatly improved if you turn the lights down or even off.. As I do. The light wheel is on the right-hand side of the monitor.
I'm in the US and can pay shipping on top of the CHEAPO goodies! Thanks for your videos. I've learned a lot and it's given me the courage to try more board level repairs! Keep up the good work!
all the stuff you showed works well for the price the bes t is proberly the soldering station (the menue is a bit o a pain) I use a simular one on my second bench .next the hot air station i used one for about 2 years befor upgrading with no problems. i dont know the multi meter but seeing you it seems fine and for that kind of work who needs a fluke. may pay the winner to get some better leads ,but maybe not . i wish the winner well as all in all its a great starter kit.
