- Final Fantasy 14 has a lot of endgame to offer for folks who have made it past the MSQ and are waiting for that next juicy patch drop. Some people choose raiding while others choose ERP. And while ERPing comes with its own version of catfish and fishy smells, I guarantee it is not as fishy as the fishiness you are about to fishness!

Tools are basically a must have for the big fish. The requirements for that first one alone show how ridiculous they can get. How the heck are people able to figure this out on their own?
Fishing definitely feels like a “collaborate with the community to figure this out” type of thing, which it definitely is, but in this age that usually turns into looking up this information in some sort of way.
Hell, these plugins are community developed so maybe that’s collaboration to the ultimate level
One does not fish for the reward or the fame (unless it's the shark mount). One fishes for the love of the game.
What about a cool little bronze fish discord badge??
Can you Fish by yourself? Or set up private party Fishing Duties?
You can fish by yourself no problem. The ocean fishing boat trips are instanced though, so you'll find yourself with a group of people.
@KevWasHereYo Thanks. I love Ocean Fishing but I could never find the unsynched instance for it. I hate having to wait two hours per fishing.
@@tremere3337 Hmmm, I'm pretty sure after a specific amount of time, the game will put you into an ocean fishing instance even if the boat doesn't fill up... and even if nobody else queued up for it. I think it's 15 minutes from the time the trip becomes available?
@@KevWasHereYo I know that I just hate the wait time inbetween trips.
@@tremere3337 the boat is definitely limited to once every 2 hours, no getting around that. It alternates hours with the open triple triad tournaments.
Personally I think gather buddy is fine. Just make sure you aren't showing it off in streams so you don't have some jerk trying to get you banned for it.
Haha I definitely have shown some stuff on stream, but for sure, definitely need to keep an eye on that in the future
While that is a massive undertaking and very well worth respecting, the true Endgame is not Fishing... its Glamming. i await your coming at the break of Dawn on the third day, complaining about Glamour Dresser sizes and gear drop rates, may you find the glam that suits you best

I do not mod. Sure, some mods unarguably do not affect gameplay - but those are few and the argument that they are skin theft does exist. But that's not why.
I don't mod because of doohickeys like that one. Exactly like that, actually!
I mean, it's nothing you couldn't get from a third party website or your own experience. It's just ... easier.
And that's why I am against it personally. You do not determine the challenge level of a multiplayer game. The game designers do.
If you use a tool to make it easier, you're cheating. Doesn't matter how benign or innocuous, you are gaining access to information in-game that you would normally have to deduce or find elsewhere. That level of separation is a game mechanic and you are circumventing it.
Thus, it's cheating.
HOWEVER.
It doesn't change anything about anyone else's game experience. It doesn't give you a competitive advantage (well, except in a community event, in which case I say refer to the event rules instead). It doesn't impact the multiplayer experience in any way. The only person you're cheating is yourself.
So if you're comfortable with a little "light cheating" as part of your goal, then I see no problem with it. I'm always fine with modding or cheating in singleplayer, and in multiplayer environments where everyone agrees to the changes. That's part of playing a game, everyone agrees on the rules.
For fishing, which is a solitaire game, you don't have to agree with anyone on the rules. You decide if it's cheating. You decided that it isn't and that's okay.
Just don't use the doohickey to catch a fish then enter a competition with it where the doohickey isn't allowed, that is cheating - you are literally breaking the agreed-upon rules. I am forced to assume GatherBuddy was allowed by the rules.
