I like how quick and succinct your instructions are! I often find myself impatient following along with tutorials so this was great to stumble upon. Thanks!
Not just ‘even’ stitches for the base chain. You need multiples of four. Otherwise you can be left with two orphan chains at the end of the first row. This is a lovely stitch, and so easy to do once you’ve got past the first row.
Glad you like it and yes it’s multiples of 4. Here’s an updated video of the same stitch th-cam.com/video/omVO78plGuM/w-d-xo.html and thanks for watching my tutorials 😉
wanting you to know...I love, love, love your patterns, and teaching...this balnket is my favorite go to...but i love everything you show...lost count on how many dresses, headbands, and diaper covers i have made, goon start on items for little boys, our city has a city wide baby shower everyyear...for thos e whom are xhoosing life...love ya...you are truly gifted...
Thank-you for taking the time to show how this stitch is worked. You are a very good teacher, and I wanted to let you know you are appreciated! Thanks again, and keep the tutorials coming. I'll be watching for your next one!!! ☺
You’re very welcome 😉 be sure to check out this other version of the same stitch since at the end I show how to make the last row th-cam.com/video/omVO78plGuM/w-d-xo.html
Wow! What a beautiful pattern, and also the slower version was most helpful! Thank you for this awesome pattern and your excellent manner and explanations.
Hi. If you mean written instructions there aren’t any at the moment but here’s the link to same stitch but slower perhaps this will help you understand the stitch and don’t forget to look in the description box which has lots of info about the stitch th-cam.com/video/omVO78plGuM/w-d-xo.html
Can you let me know the directions for making the baby hat that goes with this blanket. I made it and love it. So I have seen it before but can’t find it now. Thank you
I love this stitch so much. I already made one small afghan to donate to our local Veterans Administration hospital here in Ann Arbor, MI. When my father felt how warm it was (he stole it temporarily for his lap and feet) he didn't want to give it up. He is a heart patient and cancer patient and can NEVER get warm, so I am making a nice big one for him starting today. The stitch pattern works up beautifully and the final afghan is so plush and warm. thank you for sharing this pattern and showing the finishing edges. I would love for you to put your written pattern on Ravelry so others could have it as well. I did make a project page for mine and included a link to your video in hopes that it will catch someone's eye and they too can enjoy making this. Thanks again!!
I’m so glad you like it and thank you so much for sharing my work with others. I’m having the hardest time finding someone to write my patterns as I just have scribbled notes lol 😆 so as soon as I have written patterns I’ll ll definitely join Ravelry. I’m also working on a c2c crystal Waves stitch blanket which I think you’ll like too 😉
Thank you for this beautiful baby blanket pattern. I crochet 20 blankets at a time to donate to a local hospital maternity ward, so it's always nice to add a new pattern blanket. I started this one yesterday and is so pleased at the outcome. Looking forward to seeing more of your patterns.
What a beautiful stitch! The opposite side looks like waves! I bet a pretty turquoise, and sand color yarn would make a lovely blanket for a bed! Thank you for the awesome tutorial!
HERE IS HOW TO FINISH YOUR LAST ROW: After your last row, chain 3 +4 so 7 chains total (the first 3 chains counts as 1 dc). Then single crochet on top of the 3rd double crochet of the first fan (the last dc b4 the ch-3). Chain 4 and then again 1 sc on the 3rd dc of the next fan. Continue like this all the way to the end. At the end finish with one dc on last stitch. Once you do this you can easily work your single crochets all around for your border.
Thank you for posting this stitch. I made a scarf and it turned out beautifully. I will make a matching hat. Thanks again. This will be my go-to stitch.
You’re welcome 😉 be sure to check the end of this tutorial for same stitch that shows how to make your last row. Thanks for watching. th-cam.com/video/omVO78plGuM/w-d-xo.html
I agree with comment below, some of us are starting and if you are teaching someone, you can go slower for the first couple stitches, or we can't even see, it isn't a race, crocheting fast isn't hard, but teaching so people can follow is about going slow enough, at least initially, to assist in full view so we can not miss any stitches.
Read the information box or look in my main channel page for a slower version of this same stitch. You can also search crystal Waves Crochet stitch for that version. In the same comments you mentioned I have given the link for a slower tutorial as well. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.
Lovely stitch but, wondering why you put the hook over the yarn instead of the yarn over the hook? Is that just how you were taught? Wondering because, in crochet we always say 'yarn over' and newbies might be confused watching this.
I noticed that she was yarning under as well I wonder how it My affect the pattern? I do the yarn under yarn over when I'm making amigurumi, but she seems to do yarn under yarn under except when making the double crochet. I think I might try that and make this blanket using the yarn under technique.
Thank you so much for your tutorial ,you are so easy to follow ,I love this stitch it is so pretty.I am currently making one in baby pink for my daughter who is having a baby in June !❤️❤️❤️
I loved the style i made i making mine bigger like a afghan blanket with different colors using all the left over of the yarns i have left from other projects its looks pretty good and thank u 4 explaining it so easy ...love yr ideas. Keep up good wk...Angie
I’m working this in “paintbox” baby dk , blush pink, from LoveCrafts Inc. it’s working up beautifully. I will remind crocheters to make foundation chain loose or use a larger hook, I should’ve done. Mine is a bit tight, but with a border and blocking it should be okay.
Such a beautiful stitch . And you are a wonderfully kind and easy to understand instructor 🥰 Thank you so much for sharing this great tutorial with us 🥰 I can’t wait to try it out 🥰
You’re welcome 😉 make sure to check out this video th-cam.com/video/omVO78plGuM/w-d-xo.html since at the end I show how to finish the last row so it’s nice and straight. Thanks for watching 😊
So beautiful . Thank you . Could you please show us how to crochet this pattern in two colou yarns? I am a beginner and not sure how to change colour while crocheting.
Glad you like it. I also have an adult and baby hat with this stitch. Please be sure to also check out this slow version of this same stitch since towards the end I show how to make your last row th-cam.com/video/omVO78plGuM/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for this tutorial, really easy to follow. I have made a baby blanket with it and love the way it turned out, will definitely be making more with this.
Make sure to check out this other video on how to end your last row th-cam.com/video/I27ZxH-pqtc/w-d-xo.html and here’s the border too th-cam.com/video/hdx5vnFuKmg/w-d-xo.html
Glad you like it. Thanks for watching and be sure to watch this tutorial too which is the slow version of this same stitch but at the end I show how to complete your last row as well so it looks nice and straight th-cam.com/video/omVO78plGuM/w-d-xo.html
Thank you. Here’s another link to same stitch but slower and at the end I show how to make the last row so it’s nice and straight 😉 th-cam.com/video/omVO78plGuM/w-d-xo.html

I said it in the video minute 1:20 that I’m using a 4.5mm hook with baby yarn #3. You can also find this information in the description box along with other details about the stitch. Thanks for watching.
You’re welcome and I’m so glad you like it. Here’s the same stitch but much slower and towards the end I show how to make your last row so it’s not wavy but straight th-cam.com/video/omVO78plGuM/w-d-xo.html
Great! I’m glad you like it. I have many crochet stitches that can easily be made into blankets just like this one. And don’t worry, I have lots of more stitches to record. Thanks for watching.
I love this stitch. One question, so the base chain row should be as wide as we want it as long as it's an even number. Then we make it the length we want. Oh THERE is no having to decrease like the C2C stitches.
This stitch is worked in rows and the stitch multiple is 4 so yes, just make your chain as wide as you want your blanket to be but keep within the multiples. Here’s a link to same stitch but at the end I show how to end the last row th-cam.com/video/omVO78plGuM/w-d-xo.html also I have this same stitch in a c2c version. Here’s the link th-cam.com/video/6PL5kTTh8Lw/w-d-xo.html
Written pattern for the baby blanket is available in my Etsy shop ➡️ www.etsy.com/listing/1401758190/

I love this pattern. I've found that if you use regular yarn and a larger hook, it makes a beautiful throw also.
Thanks. I’ll have to try that too.
I’m wanting to make a throw as well. Can you tell me how many chains of the multiples of 4 you did to start? And/or the width of your throw. Thanks
