Wow...... This actually worked! VLC was struggling with higher resolution video and/or 5.1 channel sound but it's much more stable now. Thanks!
Did you apply all the settings from this video ? Or a specific one ?
@@bantertvking I honestly can't remember for sure, it was quite a while ago. I think I did the second one (disable hardware accelerated decoding) but I don't know if I did any of the others.

Never had a problem with VLC until 3.0.4 on Windows 10. Can't tell you how many useless message boards I scrolled through before finding this. The very first solution you proposed worked. Thank you so much!

OH MY GOSH THANK YOU SO MUCH! I play video lectures on 1.5X speed and every time I paused to take notes I'd have to rewind when I hit play cause the audio lagged.Thank you am for this video!
I upgraded to 3.0.3 and kept getting crashes. Turning off hardware acceleration fixed it. Very helpful video, thanks man!

turning off video acceleration was the fix such easy way, you saved my time buddy

@@keiji5584 Click Tools > Effects and Filers, then in the Video Effects tab click the Geometry sub tab you can flip the video with "Transform" function.

I tried all of your suggestions but unfortunately they didn't work for me. I've been having issues playing hevc, h265, and x265 files specifically. I am running windows 8.1. Could it be that my computer simply can't handle those file formats?
you might have to have a quad-core processor or better to handle that kind of load. H265 files (for me anyways) always ran better on 4 or more cores. I had a dual-core (unlocked mulitplier that let me enable 2 more cores) but it ran as a quad-core and for some reason it did ok, but H265 files play better on my older 6-core with a middle of the road video card. see if that's not the issue you're having.

I've used VLC since 1995 or something, but unfortunatly I couldn't get it fixed so now I uninstalled it. Just installed POTplayer. It's also free (of ads) and works on my GH5 long gop-files like a charm. Hope it stays that way.
My vlc media used to crash after 5 sec. I have followed all tricks shown in this video at a time and it is now working...
Okay this was unexpected. My VLC crashes when I display VLC on my second monitor and start up a game. I've been searching for fixxes for a long time but never found one. Now I changed the mpeg codec Thread to 2 and now I can game and watch VLC video's again! Thanks alot good sir, you fixed a really annoying problem!

Super! I just set the cache number from 300 to 24000 and it worked like a charm (yeah My system has a lot of RAM; 32GB DDR3-RAM).

I have done all of this, and yet when ever i go to fullscreen it either goes to a black screen with audio still playing in the background of the movie. or it goes to a greenish or grey-ish screen with lines. and then you hear a skipping sound in audio and the whole mac crashes and resets. i dont know what the issue is. I have an iMac OSX 10.13.6 and don't know why it always crashes when i go fullscreen. Can you help?

If I set the threads to 2 it will actually stutter enormously if I also disable the hardware accelerated decoding. What do these threads actually do?

Thank you so much! 4k h.265(hevc) can play now in vlc thanks to you. I tried everything but the file caching before this, i even sunk so low as to pay Microsoft for the hevc codec in movies&tv. Movies&TV doesn't play audio with mkv files so i was having a rough time.

1 method was set to 100ms automaticly so I used 2 method and it helped and didn't boder doing rest thx

Thanks, Yeah this worked for me with my GoPro Hero 5 videos, somewhere 60k data bitrate and would not run. Another note I changed the file caching (ms) to 1000 from 60000 (looks like max might be 1000 and no greater, as I think it defaults back to 3 ms if a higher value).
