Hey RV Curious De Warren, thanks man...I appreciate that! I really enjoy winter tent camping and look forward to the livestream this evening where I can show everyone the new Ellis Canvas Tent I'm working with. This thing is AWESOME!
I'll have more on the way! Meeting back up with Phil this week to do some work at his place. I'll be setting up my new winter tent next to his and we're planning to do a bunch of vids and a few livestreams this week. Stay tuned for more group winter camping vids! Oh, and have an awesome start to the weekend! ~ Brian
I’ve been following both you and Phil for years now and still with all the other people making content you 2 plus Timmy are my go to channels for good content. Keep it up.
I actually brought him one! I had a bunch of extra material sitting around so I cut a rectangle for him. Honestly though, that little tray he has catches all the embers and is super easy to work with. I might follow his lead and use a tray as well. Have a great start to the week, Kyle!
This is the exact setup we bought...took a while to get it all here...we love it!!! Plenty of room. We have it set up at about 7500' in Colorado currently!!! Peace...
Thanks Cheryl, I'm really happy Phil has decided to start winter camping! Ahhh, the shenanigans to be had...this is going to be awesome. Hope you have a great start to the weekend! ~ Brian
Hey Dennis, if you ever have any questions about winter camping in a tent then feel free to reach out. There's a contact page on my website and those submissions go to my personal email. You're welcome to shoot me a message anytime, I'd be happy to share some thoughts to help make your intro to winter camping more enjoyable. ~ Brian
Hello Brian! It is awesome to see you and Phil continuing to collaborate! And....he has jumped into the tent world too!! That is fabulous. I remember watching the videos of the distributor that sells those Kodiaks. They look like a legit option for anyone that wants to venture into the outfitter tent world. Not too long after me looking in to outfitter tents, I ended up ordering our travel trailer. However, I still tent camp when it is just me and the dog (and the wife is staying home). Can't wait to see your tent too. That is a bummer about the misrouting that the UPS is doing $%#^%^#$% Safe travels!! And, happy belated Thanksgiving.
Yeah, I'm really stoked for Phil to be venturing into the hot tent lifestyle! This is my favorite time of year to camp, I love the cold weather conditions. Nothing better than sitting by the stove during a snowstorm cooking up good food listening to a podcast or reading a book.Hope you had a good Thanksgiving as well!
Hi Klo Rae, yeah the shadow ban was lifted in August so things have slowly returned to somewhat normal. Thanks for following along with my videos, hope you have a great start to the weekend! ~ Brian
Question...? What do you do when you need to go into town ...do you break down your stuff...or knave it and do you worry where your at about people taking your stuff...
Hey Brad, it gets pretty gnarly in Jan and Feb up at Phil's place. He's at almost 7K feet and the snow really sticks in his general area, much more so compared to my property 30 minutes away. I get snow but mine tends to melt quicker because I'm south facing. Much of Phil's 80 acre spread is north facing so his property holds WAY more snow. I hope to get into some good snowstorms in my new tent at his property this winter!
Ok Brian, question, what is it that I'm missing? Been following multiple ppl for a pretty good stream of time but it seems lately all the "travelers" are settling onto their own property or suddenly homesteading instead of traveling. Is it fuel prices? I started watching camping, back country adventures, full time rvers about 10 years ago and it seems like since 2020 ppl are settling down, only seasonally traveling or traveling locally. What's up with that? Is it so cost prohibitive that it makes more sense to stay put?
Seems to me that the Pandemic threw many people for a loop. Lots of campgrounds closed completely and left full-timers scrambling for a plan B. In my opinion, it made them want to feel less vulnerable to unexpected rules & regulations.
Hi Wendy, if it's okay with you I want to feature this question for this evening's livestream. There are a myriad of reasons many of us nomads have chosen to have a home base. Lots of wonky stuff went on during the lockdowns so I'll touch on those this evening during our chat. Great question!
Hi Alex, yes that is my Luxe 4 person MegaHorn TeePee Hot Tent. If I were to do it over, I'd go with a Seek Outside teepee. The Luxe model works okay but condensation issues are horrendous. You'll pay a bit more for the Seek Outside teepee but it's worth it. I'd recommend going with something you can fully stand up in, the 4 person teepees tend to not have much headroom. ~ Brian
Right on, Andrew! This hobby is so much fun, I have a TRX4 with the same Chevy Blazer body as what Phil had in his tent. I love going to Sedona to RC all the great red rocks out there. So much incredible terrain for RC rock crawl!
Hello, yeah there is a removable center pole to help with support in the event of heavy snowfall. Phil just moved it out of the way so we could film easier. Thanks for tuning in, have a great Friday evening! ~ Brian
Competitive edge has a video series of the tent up for I think over 6 months. Including heavy snow. Worth a watch if you ever thought snout buying one.
@@Michael85338 Yeah, you can see the Grand Canyon from Phil's property...it's quite the view! My place is close to Juniper Mesa Wilderness Area in the Juniper Mtns. I'm at about 6K feet while Phil's place is a bit higher at 6,500ft.
Hi Mari, this is strictly a home base for Phil. He's about ready to install a diesel heater in his truck camper so he can roll around in the winter comfotably truck camping at various snowy locations.
@@OffGridBackcountryAdventures your set up inspired me to using sleeping bags on my floor. I use a Non insulated ice fishing shelter in arizona. going to be outside of payson in 2 weekends hoping snow camping like you do
