It's interesting; a few more people have made that comment and I'm curious what the thinking is. From my understanding, the main difference between covers and tributes is that a) tributes are done by bands that only play songs from one band, and/or b) tributes as single songs are for someone who died. Kiitos is Thank You in Finnish. It was Tarja's last show, she was offstage for a wardrobe change during this song. #8 in an 18 song set here. Yes, Marko has an awesome voice. From when he joined in 2001, to this 2005 show, he would sing lead on a cover song to give Tarja time for an outfit change. Megadeth's Symphony of Destruction is another they played, 2004ish. More of a tribute, as you can see by the guitar solo and the keyboards. Rumor has it that David Gilmore has seen this, and loved it. Tuomas' keyboard is angled for ergonomic reasons. Keeps the wrist angle , for the lower keyboard, closer to the angle of playing sitting down. @@DadDaughtersandDrinks Yes it is a tv show series that features celebrities singing songs while wearing head-to-toe costumes and face masks concealing their identities. The show employs panelists who guess the celebrities' identities by interpreting clues provided to them throughout each episode and vote alongside the audience for their favorite singer. After each episode the least popular is eliminated, taking off their mask to reveal their identity. The funny thing is the panellists weren't able gues who was "The Doctor" until he won and took off his mask. Even though Marko Hietala considered one of the originators of metal in Finland where at the time metal was the most popular music genre in general. I think there is videos with subtitles of the show on YT.
OK, just watched all of the songs at lunch, and I would have had NO idea it was him. The variety of song styles, vocal ranges, dance routines, etc., was just all over the place. Absolutely spectacular. Even the judges couldn't believe it was the same person singing all of the songs (before they knew who it was).
I saw PF play High Hopes on the Division Bell tour, and I seem to remember they had a big bell on stage which they hit during the song for the distinctive bell ring sound. Yes the Nightwish screen is very much the same as PF used. Love this version.
Only time I saw PF was in 1987 at the beginning of the tour that became Delicate Sound of Thunder. It was early enough in the tour that they actually opened with Echoes. I could have probably left after that.
I know about the 5 second increments; I was trying out something new in OBS that I thought would prevent that from working. Turns out I was wrong, so should be a one-time thing. But thanks for pointing it out!
My 5 cent on the keyboard position. Tuomas has 3 keyboards - 2 in front of him and one to the side, which is tilted at an odd angle. His often uses non-conventional techniques in his playing, and some of them are actually quite bad for your wrists (in some videos you can see him pulling away from the keys in pain). So it's hard to tell if the angle of the keyboard is for technical purposes - because god knows what the intended 'technique' actually is haha. But the keyboard on the side, purely from my observation, is usually used for either very sensual and emotional parts, or parts with a distinctly different tone from all other tones used in the song, which in turn means that it has to be played with more emphasis, more feel (not that Nightwish and Tuomas are ever lacking the feels), so standing above the tilted keys like that gives you a lot more room to feel the music through your whole body. This song is a good example, another examples that I can think of off top of my head would be The Poet and the Pendulum, 'The Pacific' section. Also, why only the guitar players get to move their instrument around and feel like a rock star? Keys can be just as cool! :)

Continuing the cover vs. tribute thinking from a different thread, is there something different about this version that makes it a tribute vs. the other covers? (also, you've got High Hopes in the list of covers, which based on many comments seems to be incorrect :-) ) Thanks for the list of covers, esp. with the band names. Some of these were recommended already without the band names and I might have thought of the wrong band (e.g. Over the Hills and Far Away by Led Zeppelin, Alone by Heart, etc.)
@@DadDaughtersandDrinksyes the Gary Moore - Over the Hills is a different song to Led Zeppelin's and Heart's version of Alone is a later cover of an i-Ten song.
Not only is it a fantastic tribute to Pink Floyd, it surely sounds like an homage to Tarja and the 'good times'. The lyrics align quite nicely to this being her last concert, and the impending infamous letter she would soon get.

Terrific reaction to this wonderful tribute to the great Pink Floyd. Loved it, including every pause for discussion. Keep the Nightwish live performance reactions coming and thank you.

OK, I've figured out and fixed the issue. My sound mixer in OBS was outputting the sound going to my headphones on top of the recording itself (kindof a software equivalent of having the speakers next to the mic), causing an echo. Won't happen again! Thanks again for pointing it out.
I think you have two inputs coming to your recording software and the sound sounds too much reverbed. Drums suffer the most. Anyway hanks for the reaction, it seems big Pink Floyd fans like this version the most - understandably :) Also you can use , and . to skip one videoframe at a time...
Haha, yeah, this one was a bit of a mess, technically. My sound is normally fine and I know the buttons to use; I tried something a little different and it just screwed everything up. It's all fixed now, so no worries for anything here on out. (The problem was that my headphone monitor channel was also being doubled over the output, causing that weird echo).
Noticed you were a little frustrated when trying to go back just a little bit with the pointer. In case you don't know, you can use keyboard shortcuts for short back/forward adjustments. Left and Right arrow keys go 5secs, while J and L keys go 10secs.
Yeah, I know. I was trying something a little different and having some technical difficulties. Oddly, it was related to what was causing the sound issue. All worked out now.
From the number of comments you should know that your reaction is appreciated. I have watch many reactions to this performance and you are the first person who commented on Empuu’s slide during his tapping solo. Thank you. The effect you have on the audio is too much for me. I’ve observed some reactors do that and I think I get why, but it makes the video unwatchable for me. I watched your vids before and it wasn’t a problem then. It just sounds like Mario is singing in the Batcave. I have to pass. Bummer.
Yeah, I'm not sure what happened, but I can assure you it wasn't on purpose. Some have said it sounds like I had external speakers next to the mic, but I don't have external speakers, so I'm not sure what's going on. Hopefully I'll work it out for the next one.

Here is the video from the bar. th-cam.com/video/280DRqoGyLw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=hUxiSPX5KwSM3wUy. Recorded on a cell phone yet Brittney definitely slays the performance. Saw them live a few years ago in a small club and they were fantastic. As you can tell I am a big fan.
You've convinced me to check this out. I'm not sure how quickly I'll get to it, but I'll get there eventually.
@@DadDaughtersandDrinks Great. No problem on the timing. I know your list of recommendations is huge by now. Shout out from an ex Texan. I lived in Houston for about 20 years before moving back to Vermont to care for my Dad. My kids still live in Texas (son in Dallas, twin daughters at Baylor) and I really miss Texas.
You should make sure that The Islander from Tampere 2015 is on your list. A different side of Marko.
Cool, will do. Thanks!
They are Finnish, so Kiitos is Finnish for Thank You and you will also often hear Kiitos Paljon, which means Thank You Very Much. The j is pronounce like an i and the double i like a long i.
Thanks for the linguistics help! So if I'm reading that correctly, for me thank you very much would be phonetically "kye-tose pal-e-yon"?
Kitos = thank you.
🤩👍💥💯🎼
🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙
"Weak Fantasy"live at Tampere 2015 next by them (?)
Already on the list! Not sure if it will be next, but probably soon.
Marko's voice is a loaded gun...
Alzo great guitar work
Your audio is messed up. Can hear everything with short delay. Espsecially the drums.
@Dad, Daughters (sometimes), and Drinks hat vergessen die Lautsprecher neben seinem Bildschirm auszuschalten. Er könnte auch das Mikro ausschalten.
@@nivatechnik7961Thanks for calling it out; I'll need to look into that. It's not speakers next to my screen as I don't have any. I've had the same setup without issues for a while, so I'm not sure what's happened. Sorry!
OK, I've figured out and fixed the issue. My sound mixer in OBS was outputting the sound going to my headphones on top of the recording itself (kindof a software equivalent of having the speakers next to the mic), causing an echo. Won't happen again! Thanks again for pointing it out.
Love this although I have always hated pink Floyd
Blashpemy! Haha, just kidding. I'm a massive PF fan, but I know it's all subjective and we all have our likes and dislikes.
FYI MARKO WON THE MASKED SINGER FINLAND.
Yes, I watched all of his performances at lunch today. Ton of fun! I never would have known it was him. It was even hard to believe even when I knew!
🤗🍒🤘🏻

Ketos is Thank you in Finnish.
The sole reason for the angle: Your hands line up with your wrists. It makes it easier to play standing up.
Not a cover, tribute. They are fans os PF themselves.
Marco says "Kitos", that means "thank you". This is finnisch.
Ojalá Marco haga este cover en su gira con Tarja en LATAM 🙌🏻
I hope so also! (not that I'll be there, but I'll be happy for you)

From the number of comments you should know that your reaction is appreciated. I have watch many reactions to this performance and you are the first person who commented on Empuu’s slide during his tapping solo. Thank you.
By the way I think leaving captions on during live performances is great, especially for Nightwish! Tuomas’s lyrics are special perhaps because English is not his first language
You mentioned that you might watch some of Floor’s solo performances. I suggest you get your daughters to join you in reacting to Floor’s cover of Shallow on a Dutch tv show, Beste Zangers.

Thanks for this, and I will try and get them to watch this when they come over I think this weekend. We all saw Star is Born together, and I know they all like the original. Cheers!
You might also like Marlo’s performances on Finland’s version of the masked Singer. Here is just are a few.

@@learnerchrisHa, I actually watched this at lunch today! 🙂
That’s not a screen, that’s a Stargate 😜
hahaha
Terrible reverb on the playback which is not on the original track
Yes, I've addressed that in some other comments. Won't happen again.
If you are liking Nightwish, I recommend you should check out the band "Epica". Still symphonic metal, but can be heavier. I recommend starting with the live song "Unleashed" from their retrospect 10th year anniversary concert.
OK, I've put them on the list. Thanks!
Thanks for these reactions and insights. It's good seeing your genuine enjoyment with music.
echo,,,,,
Yep, fixed.
your voice volume is too low
Yeah, that was just one of the multiple sound problems I had with this video. All fixed now though. Thanks!
