It came out of an ocean that appears to be its native habitat, so I don't think it wants to eat him. There's only one of him, so I don't think it wants to enslave him. One at a time would be very inefficient. The email seems to indicate that it wants to talk to him. The content seems to indicate that it wants to program him. The spells where he jumps locations appear to be the development of some new kind of ability. A test maybe? One that he appears to have passed at least the first part of.

A better ending would be to zoom in on his cell phone back at his bedroom with it ringing. The Caller ID says BOSS, we over hear their message yelling at him that the network is still down and he doesn't have a job anymore. ;)
The sense of isolation surrounding this guy was so thick you could cut it with a knife. For me it begged the question, was this really happening to him or was it isolation induced madness? This is one of the best DUST films I've seen.

Honestly..... I pay to watch Prime movies and 95% of all of them are terrible crap compared to these shorts! Keep up the good work! These are absolutely great!
With Dust I typically expect something with a good idea, or with good execution, or great effects, or something thought provoking, or scary, or deeply visceral. It's incredibly rare to get more than one or two of those, and unheard of to get them all. But you did just that. Very well done and satisfying. This was wonderful, thank you!

Least believable bit: IT professional opening that email and playing it at work, on his phone and work computer - and I'm not in IT. Best detail: the atmospheric effects of 'teleporting,' both arrival and departure. It's something almost universally done 'wrong' ie displacement of air. Beautifully shot. Love the absolutely minimal dialogue. Left wondering if he is having a break down, or breakthrough - either possibility is (potentially) psychologically catastrophic. That, and the ultimate question - if he is exposed to something alien - why him? Lots to unpack, but beautifully executed.
I have seen this film before. Well, I believe this individual made contact with otherworldly entities and they have invaded the time and space continuum that he previously understood. After all his job was to review the signals that were interpreted from other destinations in the cosmos and received on Earth. After the initial contact of what he heard he could have either made a file, report it, delete it but instead downloaded it. This one was a doozy! _____ Masterful in concept, acting and Special FX. _____
This one is really good. The acting is fine, the atmosphere and sound design too. Not quite sure of the message though.. but maybe it's just an artistic expressive piece :) Good stuff, anywasy 👍
It's funny, only last week I was updating some design notes with a notion like this. Humans are unique in that sound has a profound effect upon us across all levels of our cognition - emotional, intellectual and even somatic. Sounds can literally shape our understanding and interactions with reality. So I pondered, what if that process was refined beyond language and music? A perfected way to reshape the mind in a way that we don't percieve but our minds react to. A mind hack ,as it were, that we think is random noise but fundamentally changes everything about us in moments.

Now, you literally can't see anything in that area yet your mind creates a hallucination to complete the image. This is also how night terrors work exceot that what you experience is less sensory and more hallucination like we see in this short film.
We are traveling at a certain "speed/frequency" in this life. Realities can be altered depending on the speed/frequency in which we live. He was exposed to an alternate speed and it changed his reality. This is some cosmic stuff here. Interesting thought in this one.
