      There is no excuse for a player losing his temper even if the ref is bad, you cannot blame him for what happened. I expect the ref to protect the player as most as he can by giving out yellow or red cards. However even if he doesn’t then it’s no excuse if my player acted like that keeper I wouldn’t want to be on the same field with him again.

      Jamieson Laabs Not really mad... just disappointed on the ref. But then again, I had my leg broken by an idiot when I was young in a rec-league game, where the uniforms were t-shirts. I was running up the left side of the field and he came from behind and, as I stopped and dribbled the ball behind me with my left, he scissored my right. It was a clean break of my fibula.

      Alejandro Leguizamo not you lol, those players are so angry, it’s crazy that rec sports gets to that level. I’m an indoor referee, our facility is very strict on behavior. We eliminate that 1% of problematic players so the other 99% can actually enjoy the game. Those players and their fans prefer confrontation over simply playing the game out of love. Sry to hear about ur leg. Ouch. But I don’t know what happened with you, I didn’t see the game or incident. From what I see in this video, though, they want those refs to be bouncers, basically. It would be nice to know what their pay was do deal with that, because it should be triple the normal rate.

Amateur players of all ages, some fit, some overweight thrashing it out on a pitch at a local park. Few pints of beer in the dressing room at half time then back out for a bit of a scrap then off to the pub when the final whistle goes. Back to work on Monday.

  • @michaelfalkner1186
    @michaelfalkner1186 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Well, first off, the late tackle is called. Just because the white team has the ball, the referee chooses to play the advantage on the call. He should've made some note to everybody that was going to be a card.
    Probably cards both ways in the box on the left side there. Have to give the goalie a chance to deliver the ball, but the push-off should also have been carded -- and, had the original foul been whistled, the goalie would be sent off for Violent Conduct! And then the kick should've gotten him sent off anyway!
    At that point, the melee breaks out, and the referee's book needs to become "War and Peace". Not only the two players in the box on the left, 15 White should be gone for Serious Foul Play.
    16 White goes for the punting of the ball into the stands -- that's, what now... Three White Team players gone? 6 goes for the Judo Throw.
    I assume, at this point, he has abandoned the match, probably in favor of the Black Team. Because, unless there's a number of Violent Conduct red cards on the Black Team, White's down to 7 at best!

  • @pmcnamara1954
    @pmcnamara1954 5 ปีที่แล้ว +55

    The referee did not stop play for the foul at 0:15 and signaled to play on for advantage. This means he felt white was the victim of the foul. There was not sufficient advantage possible to justify not dealing harshly with that initial aggression. The kick at the shins by the black player was serious foul play. He should have been sent off immediately. All the violence that followed was the result of the non-enforcement of the initial serious foul play. In situations like that, team retributions snowball quickly.
    Once the brawl began, all the AR's and the ref should have simply begun taking numbers of any player committing a violent act, while the ref wades in close and blows his (hopefully) Fox 40 or louder whistle in full power, over and over and over to try to disrupt the brawl with 110 decibels. If that does not work, it is time to terminate the game immediately and send the report in to the league, with the noted jersey numbers. Referees have no business trying to separate violent players. Ever.

    • @guytrying4534
      @guytrying4534 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      pmcnamara1954, it looked to me like the kick at the shins was done by the player in white. Black charged to force the kick, but then white brought his foot back out to trip the player in black. At least that's how it looks to me, but I've never played competitive soccer. At any rate, white teams keeper should have been called for a foul by pushing at the black forward and kicking him. I start out every game telling the kids/adults that I card for trash talk, and I do. It only takes a yellow card, thrown once, at the right time, to defuse these situations. I'm an adult, and these things usually happen with young and/or inexperienced referees who don't have confidence in their ability to defuse these situations. I've had to eject parents from the sidelines, stopped many games and had the coach go and calm down the parents who are getting out of hand, and have even had to call the police when parents are really out of control.
    I've, in the past, reffed games in Europe, and have had to have police escorts to and from the games, to protect my anonymity. FIFA does provide excellent security for certain games. having reffed at high level, contentious games in Europe, that local children's games can be just as dangerous.

    Classic example of a referee who did not whistle early enough and everything just went downhill from there. I'd imagine that if the ref had whistled on the original incident at 0:15, spoken to the players and/or cautioned white no.6, nothing else would have happened.

    • @blast2095
      @blast2095 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even if none of the officials saw the original challenge, it becomes clear white no.6 is following his opponent around the pitch. By 0:55, speak to him and tell him in no uncertain terms to stop it.

    • @blast2095
      @blast2095 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Finally, when the fight breaks out in the centre, the subs soon get involved. In my league, this is what we do: as soon as there is any incident in the centre, the 4th official and assistant on the side with the substitutes each go to a bench and tell each team's substitutes to stay put, and not to go on the field or else they will be cautioned (for entering the field of play without permission). This is a really useful way of reducing the scale of any situation.

    The mistake was not dealing with the first late “tackle.” There was no point in letting play continue based on location of the ball. He should have blew the whistle immediately. Depending on his style he could either caution (advisable) or have a chat. A caution if early in the game would send a clear message. If later in the game a talking to could work, but it would depend on how the game had progress from there. Unbelievably, when the ball went out of play he still did nothing. This what led to the escalation. The signal sent was that the ref was not going protect their safety which leaves only intimidation as the only means of protecting themselves.

    Why would the ref play advantage after that late tackle when there is no attacking play having developed yet? The first 2/3's or center of the field is the best place to call those fouls and dish out cards to keep the game from spiraling out of control. Game management fail.

    A few things - there are 4 referees - not many games have 4 unless it was a playoff (maybe since the game took place so long ago - they HAD 4 to spare for every game). The first foul that everyone was complaining about - I could see how the ref MAY have missed the foul - thinking that the black team ran into the white player and then the ref called advantage as the white had a promising attack. Seeing the replay, the white player did stick his leg out to trip him and the ref should have cautioned or at a minimum had a stern conversation. The GK should have been ejected - that was violent conduct not sure how he could have missed that - at a minimum one of the ARs or the 4th official should have caught it. As an experienced referee - it is important to try and keep a lid on things. No matter what you do - sometimes things just erupt. This was not one of those times - a lot of the “heat” in this game could have been managed better with a whistle - and a conversation with each of the coaches. That MAY have happened and we just didn’t see it - but from this video it could have been edited out. Finally, the end of the game situation didn’t make any sense to me. In games like this (heated or abandoned) Referees are instructed to have the teams stay at the bench and then exit - not go shake hands. When the shit hit the fan - the refs need to move into a triangle so they can capture information - their role is not to stop - but to document and report back to their governing body - and they can work with the schools to determine the appropriate discipline. It’s the coaches that need to insert themselves and control their players.

    0:10 pretty sure that was a handball.
    0:13 correct call of advantage, but unclear whether ref stated "play on" loudly enough for number 6 to hear.
    0:48 player on black team should be yellow carded.
    1:05 foul by gk should be a penalty and probably a yellow card
    1:06 interference on goalkeeper releasing the ball, but...
    1:07 kicking, should be a red card, especially given it was followed up by a shove
    Meanwhile white number 6 is attacking a player, though it's not the kind of encounter that ARs would necessarily always spot. He and his teammate should be red carded. He continues to attack players at 2:18 and 3:01, which refs had to have seen. Their body language is that of helpless onlookers when they should be loudly ordering players back to their sides to separate everyone.
    Hopefully the aggressive players were disciplined by the league.
