my install attempt was an epic fail ! lower torx bolt was impossible to remove and the head stripped out after moving half way out . now bracket cannot be seated correctly and tailgate is misaligned and grinds when moving it up or down. ordered new bolts and anchor plate. Will probably have to cut existing bolt. also damaged the paint on the tailgate during the process. brand new truck 😢 … just terrible. I have used aftermarket external dampeners (DeeZee) and never had an issue or problem …
i don't understand why they don't put them on at the factory just tack on 75-100 dollars extra in the buying price. SO SIMPLE why should be a DIY for the buyer.
Just had the exact same thing happen. Had the wrong pivot bracket, and I found out after I had everything torn off of the truck. Put everything back on and now I am waiting for the right one.

It’s completely different and different part numbers
