But it can be so much more fun and easy if all girls and boys would just stop putting somebody down, smile to another person in the hallway between classes... I genuinely feel that most my generation is an absolute disgrace to humanity. PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY FUNDING ADVERTISEMENT CAMPAIGNS COMPLAINING ABOUT FUCKING PIXELS ON A GODDAMN SMARTPHONE. While people are being thrown off of buildings due to their sexuality, people would much rather fund commercials about young, privileged females not being "represented" by fucking EMOJIS. I sincerely apologise for my generation, I tend not to associate with many people my age because they are mostly pathetic and useless.
When I was on an overseas trip run by the school the only thing the other students cared about was WIFI, every time we went to a restaurant everyone was asking for WIFI passwords and had their phones out the entire time taking selfies and checking social media. The whole group apart from me was intent on going for huge shopping trips every day, same old shit in every shop and they still had to fucking buy so much they had to leave a ton behind because they couldn't fit it on the plane home
(Before you say anything about me being a spoiled kid for going on the trip, I worked two jobs for two and a half years to pay for it, by my own request my parents didn't give me any money towards it.)

I understand you completely though, some students from my school went on a trip to Belgium the other year and they visited the War Memorial there. Worst of all, they actually mocked some of the names on the memorial (there were a few names like Gaye and stuff like that). I was glad I didn't go after I heard about that, seeing it would've made me feel depressed.

I am very good with words and expressing myself and my confidence is not rooted in phone emojis nor is my identity. My self confidence soared when I started middle school, because it was the first time I had friends in my own grade, and things got even better when I started going to theatre camp, and I was going through puberty at that time. and even if things just stay the same, I know more girls who say it didn't really change their confidence than girls who say that it took a blow.

I think your point at 6:30 was the most persuasive. I say that yes there needs to be more representation of women in media and careers, but emojis is really scraping the bottom of the barrel.
I totally agree with this. Teens now a days are so reliant and so phone centered it makes me sick. Emojis are such trivial things and are simply pictures. I hate seeing commercials where girls, especially girls around my age, are saying we aren't represented and I'm just like, "Dude, shut up because by saying we aren't you're just making us look bad because we are!" Ugh!

I was born in 2000 and I completely agree, I didn't get a phone until later in my life (not sure exactly when) and I still don't have a major attachment to it unless I know I'll need it to contact someone or I use it to watch TH-cam/talk to my girlfriend. that's it, no games, I'm not consistently trying to text people, and I'd much rather go on a cool technology free camping trip with my friends then have hour long pointless conversations on my phone. Also I agree about being represented, I'm getting sick of everyone playing the victim/child card, "well he said!" "but he has!" "she did!" NO ONE CARES! GROW UP AND BE A MAN/WOMEN/WHATEVER ELSE THERE IS (HAPPY?) AND DEAL WITH IT!
