I didn't have powdery mildew, but my squash vine was wilting and drying out. Had to pull the two squash because the vines were dry. One of the squash had what I think was vine borer, so i had one left, which I need to use quickly because the stem wasn't quite dry enough to harvest. I sure hope next year's season is much better!
Thank you for showing how to pollinate. I have heard of doing it but never been show how before. Thank you I feel confident in doing the same to my squash plants now.
Bee activity will also drop this time of year because neem oil kills bees. VERY important to spray early morning and dusk. Thanks for the pollination tips!
I've never seen such a massive squash plant! Favorite tip: make sure to cut close to the stem, so as not to leave a hollow branch. Last time I had my garden going, I'd spray peppermint oil on the branches I cut for any type of plant. I think the scent repels or confuses insects. Or maybe I'm confused. My last attempt at squash plants was awful. Next time will be much better.
I decided to pull them all out when I got home from work. Only one that was left was I pruned my Ronde Nice and I think Iay get 6 more as I saw some growing.
Thank you so much! I'm thrilled to hear that you find the videos helpful and inspiring. Wishing you a wonderful Sunday filled with joy and gardening success! 🌻😊. CK
Another problem I've found pollinating later in the day is the pollen doesn't seem as fresh, as well as there being less that will picked up while hand pollinating, which for me has led to not having as much success. I am trying to make sure I check for potential flowers the night before so I can get out early enough.
Unfortunately I didn’t get any squash planted this year. I’m planning on being more intentional about when I plant and make sure I have empty space in my garden beds when it is time to plant squash.
Do you think grow bag gardening give good amount of squash?? I got only one that to also after 3 months of me planting from seed and also the leaf growth was slow. I want to see grow bag squash planting and harvesting pelase😊
When i tried to open flower it came off from female flower and i did not give any pressure its just fingure touch and it came off but looked pollinated
Someone said tht i may have squash vine borer so i cut from middle and checked it was alright now because if air and all rain the first half broke will it continue to grow?

My husband calls hand pollinating "vegetable husbandry". I've been successful with it too with the crook necked squash.
Ahhh, husband humor -- I love it!! I have that, too. (CameraGuy)

Thank you! I was just wondering today how I could extend my zucchini production since they were so late getting started.
Glad I could help!

My cucumbers have so many aphids and did mot grow any cucumber should I remove the plant? I put peas in the same planter for cucumber shade
Yes, take it out, start over with a fresh plant of whatever does well in your area - bummer, though!
Someone said tht i may have squash vine borer so i cut from middle and checked it was alright now because if air and all rain the first half broke will it continue to grow?
If you cut the main stem - it will not regrow, but the branches will (like I did it i the video), as long as it's warm enough temps!
