I know many Americans travel to Paris when thinking about Europe but Italy is just the place to be if you want all the vibes, amazing food, great people and a lot of relaxing. It is also very unique because of the differences between the north and the south.

Agreed! We love Italy and can’t wait to explore more of the country. So many delicious foods and colors and things to explore! Although we still haven’t been to France so it’s hard to compare yet.

Food in Italy is very bad actually. Portugal has the Best food from all over the world. Italy is only Italian food and it's not that good. The pizza is awful in most places in Italy. Best pizza I ever had was in Mérida Yucatan Mexico. My favorite country in Europe would have to be Spain.

By the way . did you know there is a connection between Palermo and Germany : In the middle ages , for a short term , Friedrich der Zweite ,( von Hohenstaufen, "Stupor mundi"), emperor of Germany made Palermo capital of his empire and so capital of Europe, and until now , some people of Palermo still put roses on his tomb in the cathedral .

there is a reason why Italy has been more or less the top holiday destination for decades since the 50's alongside Spain and Austria.... but Italy got it all. Though of course northern and southern Italy are different... but la dolce vita is everywhere... the food, the arts, the architecture... gelato. We Germans enjoy it for holiday and go back to our orderly more sober German daily life, dreaming of the next holiday stay lol...

From my time of travelling with a very energetic toddler, Italy was one of the best places! When she was talking about Confetti, I suppose the video was taken during Carnival time, it is very typical at that time to see the floors of the streets and squares with "coriandoli". 😁 When you explained about kisses between men, you are right, it is not a 100% Italian custom, it is more typical to see it in southern Italy. We in the north of Italy are more of shaking hands, we are colder I would say 😜 New follower.

@@OurStorytoTell I'm from your new home country Bavaria, but live in Switzerland now, and a big fan of Sicily. You can never go wrong with Palermo, it has so many layers and colorful corners and tastes to explore. Arabs and Normans, mountain fennel and pasta con sarde. If you like train rides you can do a nice day trip right through the heart of the island to Agrigento and the unreal Valle dei Templi.

Oh yeah, southern Italy is a world apart. After all Italy does reflect the north-south gradient also evident on the continental level…
And allegedly Sicily is entirely different from Italy again.
    So yeah…😂

The same difference that you find between southern and northern France ..... Do you think Marseille is the same as Brest or Nantes? And South Germany (Munich) is different from Hamburg, or the British from the Scots etc ..... It is normal that there are differences! Have you ever been to Switzerland where four different languages are spoken?

@@OurStorytoTell Stromboli is much more interesting because you can book a hiking tour up to the crater (about 900 m uphill). There you have a direkt view (50 m above) on the eruption site. Stromboli has an (small) eruption every 10-20 min. You will never be closer to an active vulcano. And there is a Pizzaria Osservatorio just near the sciara del fuoco where the glowing lava rocks will go down to the mediteranian sea.

I don't want to drive a big American car through the narrow streets of Italy. The romans drove there with their donkey carts.
I think that German seriousness has a lot to do with German history. Those were formative events. Also until 1990 on the border of East and West. But under a hard shell, Germans are friendly and helpful.
Italians on the coast have always been considered laid-back.
Quite different those in the harsh remote alpine valleys.
But many Italians also live in Germany and offer delicious ice cream or work at VW

    • @OurStorytoTell
      @OurStorytoTell  2 ปีที่แล้ว

It’s true, luckily we didn’t have our car with us or else we would have been squeezing through so many tight spaces.
We agree that most Germans take just a bit to warm up, but once they do they are friendly and extremely helpful and thoughtful!

Hey guys, nice to see you enjoyed your trip and you dont need to somehow excuse you did this vid some time ago. Yes, your are great humans providing a safety place for those who are in need. Hopefully it goes well for you and for the ukrainian people. Praying that this nightmare will stop soon for all of us. As seen, Willa can speak very well now and I am sure she has a lot to communicate. Be aware of discussions with her coming up. On the other hand she cant excuse anymore that she doesnt understand. Not sure Tanner if I mentioned to you already. I saw a phrase saying: the first daughter is a female copy of her father. Hmmh, is that scaring for you or not ? :-D Well, we have had couple sunny days but coming week will be cold again as forecasted. Anyway, after "den Eisheiligen" especially after "der kalten Sophie", we will have warmer days and nights as well and icecream will taste much much better, doesnt matter which colour, except the pink one from Rothernburg ob der Tauber which is the best as I am told.

Thanks for the comment Reinhold. It’s true, we shouldn’t need to preface why the video is posted much later than when it was taken, but we like to preface why sometimes for people who are new or missed some videos.
As for the comment about Willa being the female version of me…. 😂 we see a lot of me in her to be honest so we can believe that. Hopefully she gets most of my better traits 😬.
Raising kids right now comes with a lot of responsibility given the current world events. We are starting small but we try to teach her a lot of what’s going on right now and even why the family stayed with us and where their house is. Obviously in small toddler terms, but we want her to remember this hopefully later on in life when she’s grown up.
Unfortunately, we are seeing that the nice warm days are taking a break this week. Sad to see, but we’re extremely happy to have had as much sun and warmth as we did.
