    Oh my lanta!!! I have been using home ground flour for years now and doing it all wrong!! I had no clue about letting the flour absorb without the yeast! I used so much unnecessary flour!! Thank you! I made these and they are perfect!! I’m so excited to jump back in and having nice fluffy Healthy Bread!!

      Yes, it took me a lot of trouble shooting, and I kind of developed this method, and have found it to be very helpful with most all of my recipes. I am so happy to hear this! Yay!

    I'm so excited to try this with fresh milled flour. I have made them before with KA all-purpose so I'm sure it will be a learning curve for me. Thank you for a very detailed video 😊

    Hi Kara, can you tell us a little bit about the ability to freeze fresh milled flour dough and then defrost it to make bread or English muffins?

    • @GrainsInSmallPlaces
      @GrainsInSmallPlaces  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can freeze it after you shape them, then put them in the fridge the night before you want to make them. Let them sit on the counter to come to room temp(1-2 hours) Then make as directed.

    Im going to try these today. I have yet to find a recipe that I really like. But I have found thay cook quicker when I put a lid on the pan. Have you tried that,?

    • @GrainsInSmallPlaces
      @GrainsInSmallPlaces  ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer the texture without the lid for cooking, I hope you love them!

    I have the Harvest Nutri Mill grain mill. I have only used it twice. The first time I milled and cooked with the flour I bit down on a few really hard places, kinda gritty feel. Could that be from my mill? Could I have dialed my disks too tight? Can you get it so tight that it grinds off some of the stone? A little worried about that.

    • @GrainsInSmallPlaces
      @GrainsInSmallPlaces  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If your mill is new, you may need to run some more dry rice through it, I found that I had to run dry rice through mine a couple times. The stones should be fine, just run 2 whole cups of cheap dry rice through at the finest setting. Hope that helps!

    Thank you so much for all the information about the grains and mill. I recently bought a mill. I ordered hard white and soft white wheat. The bag of soft white wheat had some powdery flour mixed with it and some green colored grains. Are these 2 things common? Do I need to worry about the grain quality due to this? Thanks again!

    • @GrainsInSmallPlaces
      @GrainsInSmallPlaces  ปีที่แล้ว

      My pleasure! I would inspect the soft white wheat and make sure there are no holes in the individual grain pieces, the white powder could potentially indicate weevils. But, not necessarily. You can also contact whoever you purchased it from about it, they may have a better answer/resolution. The green colored grains sound like there could be just small amounts of another grain in there, which is not unheard of as long as it's just s little bit. Hope that helps!

    • @priyaldesai2077
      @priyaldesai2077 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The company said the powder is related to the soft wheat berries rubbing against each other during processing. I hope that’s correct. This is all very new to me.

    • @priyaldesai2077
      @priyaldesai2077 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will check individual grains for any holes.

    • @GrainsInSmallPlaces
      @GrainsInSmallPlaces  ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds good! Just check for any holes, and you are good to go. If you are concerned, you can freeze the grains for 3 days and that should kill any bugs if there were any.

    What grind level do you set your mill? Like at the 7:00 mark more/less? I guess l am the one weird person on the planet that doesn't like the taste of sourdough.

    • @GrainsInSmallPlaces
      @GrainsInSmallPlaces  ปีที่แล้ว

      My mill doesn't really have levels. I will put a link to my review video that also shows how I adjust it to mill the flour. I like sourdough in some things, but not in everything, so you are not alone! 😊

    Milling rice do you wash it then let it dry? What kind of rice? I always rinse my rice before cooking it

    • @GrainsInSmallPlaces
      @GrainsInSmallPlaces  ปีที่แล้ว

      I just mill is dry from the package. Any rice will do, except partially cooked rice like minute rice will not.

    Will a kitchen aid work for this? Or do we need a bread mixer?

    • @GrainsInSmallPlaces
      @GrainsInSmallPlaces  ปีที่แล้ว

      A kitchen aid should work, but you might have to stop and let it rest a bit between kneading. My sister has a Kitchen Aid Pro and makes these often. I hope that helps!

  • @nervapainify

    Could you cook these in an air fryer?

    • @GrainsInSmallPlaces
      @GrainsInSmallPlaces  ปีที่แล้ว

      You may be able to, but the texture will be different more like bread. To get the very browned top and bottom it does best on a pan. But I would be interested to know the results of making them in the air fryer, if you give it a shot, let me know how it goes!
