This is one of two 997 starter replacement videos I watched today. I hope that isn’t a sign of impending doom for my starter. Anyway, just wanted to leave a cautionary warning: make sure you get that plenum back in there and sealed properly. If not you get unmetered air in/vacuum leak and start jacking with fuel trims and such.

@@K1dPhresh1 that’s a good note, so far the car drives great, and everything was tight when we put it back in so hopefully that means vacuum leaks

Yeah, just wanted to throw that out there. Even minor vacuum leak can bringing in unmetered air causing your car to add fuel making your mixture rich, washing the oil off the cylinders and then…bore scoring. You could and actually should check your fuel trims with a scan tool to see where they are at. Enjoying the progress!

So true...on fitting mine back on my 997 after starter motor change...That rear black inlet pipe was a pain to get back on 😢...I've been told there's no need to take the 2 off only 1....but how on earth you can squeeze new motor on I found impossible....😢
I just changed Alternator on mine this week straight forward job but like on above video I too snapped that water connection ...lucky enough Porsche indy online here in UK only £7.45...👍

Nice work. My 02 sounds exactly like yours. I'm going to lower the engine to get at the starter. Way easier.

Definitely will give you more clearance/ access that’s a smart play

Lower the engine 😮....No need fella
You have plenty of access on top..
I done this job on my 997 in the past...
Only hassle I had was rear black inlet pipe to connect back on but got there in the end..👍
