You're welcome. I'm definitely not the best role model for safety but there are a few easy precautions everyone can take to remain safe. Out of all the tools I use the angle grinder is the most intimidating.
Chris, this was the video I've been looking for. Thank you so much for spending the time to put it together. I'll be shopping for that gouge and planer soon. Well done, sir. Well done.
Respirator, mask, some form of lung protection - glad you added that. Cancer is but one of many things that can go awry with your lungs. As I can well attest - I'm now breathing with two that I was not born with. Happy carving!
Dude for as long as you went on about safety and then you used only one hand to hold your angle grinder and your other hand held the bowl about 5 inches away. I can tell you've never had an accident. That shit won't be acceptable after you've ran you grinder across your hand in the blink of an eye. It happens that quick and there's nothing in the world that you can do but wrap a towel around it and head QUICKLY into the ER. You ever hear the term nothing is as expensive regret? lol. Yeah man
I just got a new Milwaukee angle grinder. Love it!
Great job !! ❤️
Wow. Thank you for posting. Great tip with the homemade ball sander

As a new carver, I sincerely appreciate your safety tips. I never thought about clothing getting caught in grinder. Thank you so much!!!!

You can never be too safe.
Can you please show the burnishing procedure. I'm intrigued by this.
These are beautiful! What kind of a stone do you use to burnish with?
One I found on a kayaking trip. 😁
Your comment of using a stone to burnish the wood was very interesting, something I’ve never heard or seen. Can we see something of that process???
Thanks- would you be kind enough to list the names of the tools I would need to do this? Thanks again…

YEP, made a slip with an angle grinder on mere poplar with the 14 tooth chain saw disc and JUST snagged my jeans, I was so lucky
Hi would anyone 18v cordless grinder be powerful enough for this ?
Thanks
I’ve never used a battery powered grinder so I can’t say for sure but I would imagine this type of use would drain a battery quick.
I am glad you did the safety, some are cowboys and fingers and toes go missing.
thank you!
What oil did you use ? Thanks
Mineral Oil and Bees Wax
I saw some of these on Etsy for $20 to $60, how much do you sell these for? I was thinking of doing a few but not sure what price they sell at.
This particular bowl sold for $140.
Wow, that's awesome. I think a lot of the ones I saw on Etsy were smaller. Keep up the good work. That thing came out great!
Where did you get your vest and air buds?
The vest is a Woodturners Vest from Rockler and the ear buds are ISO Tunes.
Is that green wood? Not cured at all?
Is that a 5 inch grinder.
How much would you charge for these bowls
If I remember correctly I sold those bowls for $160 and $180. I haven’t made any in a long time.
