  • In this video I'll be rescaping my Pea Puffer tank to accommodate their dirty habits of digging in my soil. I'll also be showing how you can lower your PH without having to use active substrates, chemicals, or driftwood. ‪@shrimpybusiness1596‬

I'm so glad I stumbled across your channel, super entertaining and informative! Also, I'm a Minnesotan too (Bemidji), aren't you glad it FINALLY feels like Spring!!

You're 3hrs from me! I'm happy you stumbled into me too! Lol
Any time I have another person to talk tanks to always brightens my day. Paynseville is desolate. 😂
I'm happy you enjoy my eccentric way of teaching.
Now about the weather. . .
I'm born and raised from Texas. I spent 37yrs in a desert. I don't share the enthusiasm of spring nor summer. For me, winter is free AC!
I'll look forward to seeing you in the future. Never hesitate to ask questions. I feel it necessary. I'll make a whole video on it. I hit writers block for several weeks on occasion. 🤙

Great to see a new video. The new scape looks great. Is it possible that the puffers were hunting the worms in the soil? I have been wondering about pea puffers with a diet that isn’t primarily snails. Would the need something to help them keep their teeth trimmed down or do they necessarily have that problem?

Great Question and great to always see you around in my comment section. You are one of the few that always say Hi.
My Puffers had been digging in the dirt long before any worms existed. They won't even attempt to eat something that large. They'll reject bloodworms if slightly too big. They absolutely must have snails as a primary source of food. You're correct about their teeth. They have 2 triangular teeth up front, at the top and the bottom. If they don't keep them trimmed down; there's potential for them to overgrow to the point they can no longer eat which results in starvation. For Pea Puffers, Bladder snails are best as they're the tiniest and reproduce rapidly. I've always got a large supply breeding in all my tanks and I didn't start it if my own volition. They hitch hike on plants. Blood worms twice a week and snails twice a day. Keep those bellies full. 😁
To back track a bit on the digging in the dirt. I can't speak for all Pea Puffers as these are the only 2 I've ever had but they actually sleep in the sand. When I turn on the lights, they explode out of the dirt like a hot air balloon! Lol
It's possible others don't behave that way. They're endangered animal because they're so defenseless in the wild to pretty much everything. I would presume that even out in the wild they'd have piece of mind burying themselves while sleeping.
Hope I covered everything. My responses can be long and detailed.
      Thanks again Angie!!

Great video. What grit size on the black diamond sand did you use?

Fine grit. It needs to be in order to adequately trap the minerals below it so doesn't escape into your water column effecting your parameters.
      Thanks Fernando 🤙
