Great to see the sub , x27 is in the fieldhouse museum at gosport, built at Marshall’s of Gainsborough during the war, my dad was on her when it went to Bergen. Marshall’s built six subs in total and another batch were built by brocklebanks of Sheffield , most were lost but my dads is preserves as the only sub that saw action in ww11 she was later shipped to Australia where she was seconded to guadal canal near the end of the war. I am no expert on this subject but had lots of discussions with my dad when he was alive, we went to gosport to see his sub as he lived at portsmouth, I have a pdf of a drawing one tenth scale ,you may have it without obligation if you require, once again great video. Magnificient model. I am currently building my own X from scratch, unfotunately mostly using not so accurate scale drawings. But there are luckily some photos of the web from a real thing ;0)
Bob rebuilt the back end by redesigning it in CAD and 3D printed it. When I heard the back end was missing I really thought we were done, because we had no molds. This was the third submarine I shipped out that UPS screwed up. I think we were jinxed! It's wonderful to see it back in the water. So glad it found a good home, it's a gorgeous model!
I was surprised to see dive modules. That makes for a real quick alternative to actually building all the components separately. So many headaches avoided.
(Off Topic) As a collector of vintage Boomboxes and Ghettoblasters, I am very familiar with UPS, FEDEX and USPS trashing stuff. It's pretty ridiculous that we are forced to deal with their shitty service. (On Topic) Your channel is freaking awesome man! Keep up the fantastic work!
You should have seen the package I had that was sent from the Ukraine! It was really smashed up. Contents was a glass electronic tube. I lucked out because the shipper had it packed with plenty of padding.
I am trying to opbtain some proper blueprints of X-Craft mini sub, with correct measurements, so I can make the models in any scale I choose, including, 1:50 surfaced models for tabletop wargaming. Can anyone point in me the right direction? As my numerous web hunts have proved to be worthless. Any help would be greatly recieved.
Thanks for this wonderfull video with yet another fantastic modell. But I Wonder if you know that UK found out (In the 70ties or 80ies I believe) that there werent any of theese crafts left (in life! 😁) to put in their museums they rembered that the closet to theese X craft in existens was a almost equal designed and in the looks they could find was Swedish minisub called Spigen used in the swedish navy for training as a target for our navys of practisicing (excuse my spelling in you language) subchasing! The english word for Spigg is Stickleback så Spiggen mean the Stickleback! The Spiggen was a development of the X craft and built in UK and bought by Sweden for our navy after the war. It was built as Stickleback and in service 1954 (I believe in the UK navy). In 1958 it was baught by Sweden. But the modt important for Spiggen was to train our attack divers and not as a target for hunting submarines!
@@johnjamieson7087 aha. Didnt know that. Thanks. John. The firat subs in sweden was private ventures by an inventor by The name Nordenfelt. The firat was tested in The soynd betwen Denmark and sweden called Öresund. Built 1885. 19 years BEFORE The Swedish Navys first Sub called Hajen (The shark) in 1994. Nordenfelt later Built 1 Sub for Grece, 2 subs for Turky (Built by Barrow Shipyard in Barriw-in-Furness England 1886), and 1 Sub for Russia Built by Barrow 1888. With good test result. But England thougt at The time that subs where an unenglish way of fighting!
The sub x27 is in the field house museum at gosport, built by Marshall’s at Gainsborough during the war, my father sailed on it to the raid at Bergen it had a four man crew, there is another one part of the national collection but not on public display at cosford air museum. She was 58 foot long powered by a Perkins bus engine for surface propulsion, and outdoors at gosport for years going indoors at the field house museum in about 2000
Yes the Tirpitz Started to settle on top of it as the tide went out . Not only that, it was setting on the escape hatch . But they were lucky and were able to get out before it was to late !
I went to your website , I'm having difficulty finding the Revell 1;72 scale gato class boat for the starter kit you have perhaps you can direct me to where I can find this kit , I've been to amazon and even the Revell home all I can find are the German boats
I always wondered... When having a gas powered ballasttank... What happens if the boat runs out of gas, while beening submerged? It cant surface again? Thanks for reply in advance :)
If you're smart, you've ballasted your boat slightly positive and you just float to the surface. If not, you should be smart enough to have an emergency buoy on a timer. If not that, you go swimming!
It would be interesting to see the wrecked version that UPS delivered to you, as well as, the final result. I imagine cleaning out the "dirty water" is no fun for the reason as to why you didn't submerge in yer' pool and the pond. Itz cool to see on video, though!
I'd love to have a Dutch Walrus-class or the new boat that should be in service from 2025 onward. So far it has not been released what name these ships will have though. That they will have a similar role as the Walrus-class boats is pretty much the best guess. I do know that the new boats will be build in a modular way. This modular way was taken from Saab in Sweden. The Walrus-class is said to be replaced by 2025, when the new boats should take over. The new boats will be made in the Netherlands as usually. If Damen also manages to sell this new submarine type to Canada and Poland (who are also looking strongly to the Dutch new submarine type), then also these will be maintained in Dutch navy base at Den Helder, the Netherlands. I don't think Poland will bug out on that order as they are working hard on upgrading EVERYTHING in their navy. They also want a Join Support Ship which is likely going to be ordered in the Netherlands as well.
I would think that the vessel reaches its highest top speed when it is totally submerged. Were you able to confirm this or was it the other way around due to the snorkel? Very interesting hobby!
Zoes Dada These midget subs didn’t have conning towers, there were only three crew and a diver and when surfaced the commander could stand on the casing and strap himself to the periscope. They were designed to be very low profile sabotage vessels eg: against the Tirptz - the bulges on the sides were actually large detachable mines, also used to reconnaissance the D-day beaches and to act as beacons to guide the D-day invasion fleets in to the beaches
That UPS Destroyed (listen to 40 seconds this video) and lost half the submarine is so very disgusting !!! I had many similar events with shipments over time! it has become so friggin awful with the shipping companies! And they could not care less! Nice U-Boot, Thanks for posting ! Regards from Alaska!
I worked at UPS part time during college for their tuition reimbursement program. They don't screen employees and during breaks the parking lot was reeking of pot smoke. Full time guys even joke their name 'UPS' stands for 'United Package Smashers'. Seen it firsthand granted it's been 10 years ago so I'm sure nothing has changed.
Something this size & fragility really needs to be packaged in wood framing, hardboard, & double layer cardboard, filled with bubble-wrap, especially if it's shipped overseas.
I think theres one at Duxford aircraft museum - its sectioned, sitting in the back of the WWII hangar... th-cam.com/video/hwbtl-9Jkpw/w-d-xo.html perhaps another one at the RN Submarine museum gosport/Portsmouth.

God job Bob ! Love to see these models come alive
The music was befitting of this craft and very nicely done!
Nice video. Good explaining. Congrats!!!
beautiful job very realistic another amazing job
Beau travail 👍 tres bien

Once again Bob you prove that fine and passion are key too perfection! HOOAH @😁

didn't know that about the loss of signal underwater in the gigahertz range, New sub to see all of your future subs!
Thanks for this wonderfull video with yet another fantastic modell.

I understand that X-24 survived the war and since 1981 has been on display in the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport in the south of England.

How deep can u navigate? What's the signal range? Awesome job!!!
You need the tirpitz now lol and I think one of these got stuck under the battle ship wen it sank and it crushed it I think?
Yeah a 1:12 scale Tirpitz...but I think he would need a larger swimming pool...lol.
Yes the Tirpitz Started to settle on top of it as the tide went out . Not only that, it was setting on the escape hatch . But they were lucky and were able to get out before it was to late !

Could you give a little history about the subs your RC boats are based on?

Great build as always Bob, what happened the massive German type 21 you were building?
I would think that the vessel reaches its highest top speed when it is totally submerged. Were you able to confirm this or was it the other way around due to the snorkel? Very interesting hobby!
cant you put on fpv on there? nice boat sir
Ever startle any fish in that pond?

that sub is gorgiouse
I give you the Red Krieg-tober.
Bob, are you into Submarine movies, or just the models?
11:09.
Every worry about a gator or large fish coming after your boat?
looks like the German "milk cow" submarine
very stealthy.
Add a camera that would be cool!
Any fish in that lake are - SHARK!! SHARK!! - run away !!!!!!!
All you need to do now , is make two saddle tanks full of explosive , and drop them off !
Show,,,
I’ve been in the real one of this submarine
Where is there a X craft now please ?
I think theres one at Duxford aircraft museum - its sectioned, sitting in the back of the WWII hangar...
