It's funny cus that actually depends on who you ask cus there are definitely people who preferred the older works than the later. In my opinion I believe that is a sign of just how amazing this band was regardless of which era of their music they were at it was so good that you have so many people who love all of their work and multiple factions who also love specific eras in their music

My first time hearing The Beatles was in 1985, when I was 4. I was OBSESSED with 'Thomas The Tank Engine' which was narrated by Ringo Starr. My Dad said to me 'Ringo who reads your Thomas stories used to be in a band called 'The Beatles.' He then played me 'I Want To Hold Your Hand' and I immediately became OBSESSED with The Beatles and over 35 years later I still am!
I'm old.ok? Imagine way back when there wasn't even fm radio everywhere. Just the generic sounding, transistor radio AM stations, were all we knew as youngsters. The sound out of them was rather shilly. Even so,when the song " I wanna hold your hand" came blurting out of it...there was something magical about the sound. It was euphoric in some way. You knew immediately it was special. It's difficult to describe but it made your ears perk up in some way. It might be similar to walking through a desert parched,but not realizing it. Until someone throws a gallon of cool water over you. It filled an empty spot in my soul I didn't know was there. I’m 66. I saw the Beatles on tv in 1964-so right from the beginning. From that moment you could see there was a real musical change happening. Little did we know!! Their music is so diverse anyone can find something they like. This song is truly lovely!!

I heard of the Beatles when I was a very young child, because they still had music on the radio then! I never saw them live, of course, but heard their music all the time at home. My very favorite song is "Norwegian Wood". I'm not sure why, but that song has always touched my heart.
That was the beginning of Beatle mania for sure but my opinion is Rubber Soul was their breakout album. It's when they became real musicians instead of pop stars.
I was 9 years old and brand new to the United States (I'm Canadian). My family and I were watching the Ed Sullivan Show. Once I saw the Beatles I knew that everything would be different. I fell in love with them and their music. To this day, I still have all my Beatles vinyl....all of it. It was such a mad house that the Beatles stopped performing live and only recorded in studio from that point on. In fact, they essentially created the concept of music videos to avoid performing live on TV shows.

I'm certain I was introduced tot hem when I was 7. All I remember is mum pulling me into the living room, putting 'The Red Album' on, my standing there thinking 'This had better be good', and then one second later dancing around the living room with her to 'Love Me Do'. I was introduced to the Blue Album a day or so later. If I remember right and I was 7 when this happened, then this would have been around the time when George died (he was Dad's favourite Beatle for various reasons including his bringing Indian music to mainstream culture - dad's not Indian but he loves the music and the culture - I think he even said at one point that he was something like a father figure to him for a bit), because in 2016 every time a famous singer died they spent half the day getting their old cds of them out and listening to them non-stop (interesting experience holding your mums hand at the table listening to 'So Long Marianne'), so it makes sense that they'd introduce me to the Beatles as a response to George Harrison's death. A year later I was the only one who seemed to remember the rest of the lyrics to 'yellow submarine' (I read the lyrics in the booklet the cds had).

I truly can’t think of a time where I wasn’t aware of the Beatles, Elton John, Simon & Garfunkel, Three Dog Night, The Who, Isaac Hayes, Crosby, Stills & Nash Billy Joel, James Taylor or the Dave Brubeck quartet. Those albums were constantly being played in our house since I was a baby (born in ‘68). I remember being around 3 or 4 & sitting in front of this low, yellow coffee table we had & playing ‘piano’ on the table along with Elton John😊
I’m 70 .. I was a rocker in 1964 I was 13 year old rebel, Elvis was King.. I went to a mates place, he had all his hair brushed forward not greased back .. I looked at him puzzled & he said the Beatles mate, I went “who!!!” The Beatles listen to this, he put on Love Me Do, I can’t say I loved it, but I knew they had taken music in a different direction & that interested me, I thought they were a one hit wonder, but song after song, with this catchy different sound, I was hypnotised by their greatness & still they cranked out hit after hit, I finally gave in & become a Beatle maniac a fan for life.. I still love them & always will.
You should try "Something," which as on the same album. At the time, Frank Sinatra called it the greatest love song of the past 25 years. "And it doesn't even use the word 'love'," he added.

I was 14 or 15 yrs old, sitting at home, on the couch waiting for the Ed Sullivan show and I heard "I want to hold your hand." That was it for me and I soon learned, along with the country, the Beatles had tapped into the soul of music. It was an eye opener for the power of music.
I don't really remember a world without the Beatles in it, but I think the White Album was the first Beatles Album I was aware of. It came out when I was 7.
My personal favorites are "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (amazing solo played by Eric Clapton), and "Eleanor Rigby" (Paul McCartney's first foray into writing music for a string ensemble). I'd love to see a reaction to either!

"Here Comes the Sun" is my absolute favorite Beatles song... and it is an integral part of my Winter Solstice celebration! George H. was an un-sung hero; here his brilliance shines through.
Not the Beatles but I've seen Paul McCartney 2 times in my life. Amazing. He plays about 8 instruments and just rocks the whole time. Plus hearing him play Blackbird live is flat out an experience. AND he plays "something" in tribute to George on George's old ukulele. Amazing.
As far as Beatles live performances go, they only toured in the U.S. from 1964 to 1966. And if you watch any of the videos you will see it was complete insanity, with every teenage girl in the audience screaming at the top of their lungs from beginning till end. The amazing thing is, even with tiny PA systems and NO monitors at all, they were always singing perfectly in key, totally f'ing amazing.
I was 8 years old going on 9 and saw them first on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. Soon after that they appeared again and then A HARD DAYS NIGHT appeared and I saw it at the theater with my best friend and my little sister.
While I never saw them perform, they had crazy fangirls in their early years. These fans would just scream non stop through the concerts that the Beatles could never hear themselves or each other. Worth checking out videos of them
If you want to see a really crazy reaction to them, watch when they first landed in Australia. Over 300,000 crazy Beatlemaniacs turned out to greet them when they arrived at their hotel. 😁
Their last public performance was 52 years ago and that was the one on the rooftop. I would think there isn't a whole lot of people still around that last saw them perform. I have listened to them for over 45 years myself and I never get tired of them.
My Dad saw the Beatles once. The crowd was sooooo hyped, the band was only able to play 3 songs before being forced to exit the stage for safety reasons.
Wow, I actually had the opportunity to go to what was to be their last concert at "Candlestick Park, in San Francisco, in 1966. I had something in mind that conflicted with the concert, (wish I could remember what it was now), and I can remember thinking to myself: "Nah, I'll just see them the next time they come." Little did I or anyone know, at that time, that The Beatles would never play anothr Live concert again?! ARGH! I think I'm taking that "Regret" to my grave, with me. UGH!
I think it's funny that RomeLife is saying, "Don't hate on me for not having heard of the Beatles until Black Beatles" because I only discovered Smokey Robinson from hearing the Beatles' cover of "You Really Got A Hold On Me." I think that is just one of the ways people discover great music.

Back in the early 1970's on vacation with my Mom, Dad and Sister, driving through the Rocky Mountains with Here Comes the Sun playing on the 8-track. All these years later and I still cherish that memory.
I was away from home and feeling lonely when I listened to this song. It was winter and I was looking out the window - then the sun came out and a whole flock of robins landed in the yard. The song and the robins uplifted me.
You truly feel the music the way we did. You have a gifted way of travelling time and discovering the same ground as us. Thank you so much I was 7 yo when this came out and I felt I could walk on rainbows. Feelings never leave the Source.

When i was a child we would watch "The Beatles" cartoons on a black and white tv. That was the beginning of my love for their music.

I saw them play on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 when I was 9. It changed my life and the lives of almost everyone in western culture at that time. The Beatles were a musical revolution. I feel so fortunate to have grown up in these years because I got to experience the greatest era music has yet known.

I heard of the Beatles when I was a very young child, because they still had music on the radio then! I never saw them live, of course, but heard their music all the time at home. My very favorite song is "Norwegian Wood". I'm not sure why, but that song has always touched my heart.
In My Life! My favorite but that doesn't really matter considering they have a truly ridiculous number of brilliant songs. They are unrivaled.

I was 5 years old when I heard them on the radio singing I want to hold your hand.I never stopped listening to them after that.
I was 9 years old and brand new to the United States (I'm Canadian). My family and I were watching the Ed Sullivan Show. Once I saw the Beatles I knew that everything would be different. I fell in love with them and their music. To this day, I still have all my Beatles vinyl....all of it. I never got to see them live, but they started me on a musical journey where I got to see a LOT of truly legendary bands live over the years. It was a great time to grow up.
Dude, Don't you realizejust how very few rock/pop songs through all the decades are geared to making the listener feel good about oneself, and one's life. And how many are as hopeful and as joyous and as flay out beautiful as Here Comes the Sun? ...very few indeed.

Bob Geldof said Beatles concerts smelled of urine and it stank. All the crazy girls working themselves into a frenzy and passing out pissed themselves, and he could see little tiny rivers of pee rolling down the auditorium floors to gather in front of the stage. You couldn't hear them playing the music because of those same girls screeching.

@@TheSanityInspector It's not a matter of age, it's the historical significance of the events (look up the Beatles at Shea Stadium). It was such a mad house that the Beatles stopped performing live and only recorded in studio from that point on. In fact, they essentially created the concept of music videos to avoid performing live on TV shows.

Man, my parents were (are) straight-up hippies. I was born in Portland, Oregon. My father played jazz guitar back then, up and down the West Coast. There is literally no part of my life where I did NOT know the Beatles, inside and out.

I'm certain I was introduced tot hem when I was 7. All I remember is mum pulling me into the living room, putting 'The Red Album' on, my standing there thinking 'This had better be good', and then one second later dancing around the living room with her to 'Love Me Do'. I was introduced to the Blue Album a day or so later. If I remember right and I was 7 when this happened, then this would have been around the time when George died (he was Dad's favourite Beatle for various reasons including his bringing Indian music to mainstream culture - dad's not Indian but he loves the music and the culture - I think he even said at one point that he was something like a father figure to him for a bit), because in 2016 every time a famous singer died they spent half the day getting their old cds of them out and listening to them non-stop (interesting experience holding your mums hand at the table listening to 'So Long Marianne'), so it makes sense that they'd introduce me to the Beatles as a response to George Harrison's death. A year later I was the only one who seemed to remember the rest of the lyrics to 'yellow submarine' (I read the lyrics in the booklet the cds had).

I truly can’t think of a time where I wasn’t aware of the Beatles, Elton John, Simon & Garfunkel, Three Dog Night, The Who, Isaac Hayes, Crosby, Stills & Nash Billy Joel, James Taylor or the Dave Brubeck quartet.
Those albums were constantly being played in our house since I was a baby (born in ‘68). I remember being around 3 or 4 & sitting in front of this low, yellow coffee table we had & playing ‘piano’ on the table along with Elton John😊
I’m 70 .. I was a rocker in 1964 I was 13 year old rebel, Elvis was King.. I went to a mates place, he had all his hair brushed forward not greased back .. I looked at him puzzled & he said the Beatles mate, I went “who!!!” The Beatles listen to this, he put on Love Me Do, I can’t say I loved it, but I knew they had taken music in a different direction & that interested me, I thought they were a one hit wonder, but song after song, with this catchy different sound, I was hypnotised by their greatness & still they cranked out hit after hit, I finally gave in & become a Beatle maniac a fan for life.. I still love them & always will.

You should try "Something," which as on the same album. At the time, Frank Sinatra called it the greatest love song of the past 25 years. "And it doesn't even use the word 'love'," he added.
Frank Sinatra also called it his favorite Lennon/McCartney song.

I was 14 or 15 yrs old, sitting at home, on the couch waiting for the Ed Sullivan show and I heard "I want to hold your hand." That was it for me and I soon learned, along with the country, the Beatles had tapped into the soul of music. It was an eye opener for the power of music.
I don't really remember a world without the Beatles in it, but I think the White Album was the first Beatles Album I was aware of. It came out when I was 7.
My personal favorites are "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (amazing solo played by Eric Clapton), and "Eleanor Rigby" (Paul McCartney's first foray into writing music for a string ensemble). I'd love to see a reaction to either!
first time i heard of them i was 3 years old and "Lucy in the Sky" was one of my favorite songs along with "Puff The Magic Dragon".

Living in England, I always have this song pop into my head that first day in the year that the Sun is out and is actually warm, might be April, might be May, but it's been a 6 month wait and you really feel like you've earned it.

"Here Comes the Sun" is my absolute favorite Beatles song... and it is an integral part of my Winter Solstice celebration! George H. was an un-sung hero; here his brilliance shines through.
Not the Beatles but I've seen Paul McCartney 2 times in my life. Amazing. He plays about 8 instruments and just rocks the whole time. Plus hearing him play Blackbird live is flat out an experience. AND he plays "something" in tribute to George on George's old ukulele. Amazing.
As far as Beatles live performances go, they only toured in the U.S. from 1964 to 1966. And if you watch any of the videos you will see it was complete insanity, with every teenage girl in the audience screaming at the top of their lungs from beginning till end. The amazing thing is, even with tiny PA systems and NO monitors at all, they were always singing perfectly in key, totally f'ing amazing.
It's very hard to grow up in the last 50 years and not know some Beatle songs, they are such a fabric of our lives

I was 8 years old going on 9 and saw them first on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. Soon after that they appeared again and then A HARD DAYS NIGHT appeared and I saw it at the theater with my best friend and my little sister.
While I never saw them perform, they had crazy fangirls in their early years. These fans would just scream non stop through the concerts that the Beatles could never hear themselves or each other. Worth checking out videos of them
If you want to see a really crazy reaction to them, watch when they first landed in Australia. Over 300,000 crazy Beatlemaniacs turned out to greet them when they arrived at their hotel. 😁
Their last public performance was 52 years ago and that was the one on the rooftop. I would think there isn't a whole lot of people still around that last saw them perform. I have listened to them for over 45 years myself and I never get tired of them.
My Dad saw the Beatles once. The crowd was sooooo hyped, the band was only able to play 3 songs before being forced to exit the stage for safety reasons.

Since they quit live performances in 1966, it's not easy to find someone who saw them live! My sister did in Seattle in 1964.
Wow, I actually had the opportunity to go to what was to be their last concert at "Candlestick Park, in San Francisco, in 1966. I had something in mind that conflicted with the concert, (wish I could remember what it was now), and I can remember thinking to myself: "Nah, I'll just see them the next time they come." Little did I or anyone know, at that time, that The Beatles would never play anothr Live concert again?! ARGH! I think I'm taking that "Regret" to my grave, with me. UGH!

I think it's funny that RomeLife is saying, "Don't hate on me for not having heard of the Beatles until Black Beatles" because I only discovered Smokey Robinson from hearing the Beatles' cover of "You Really Got A Hold On Me." I think that is just one of the ways people discover great music.

Back in the early 1970's on vacation with my Mom, Dad and Sister, driving through the Rocky Mountains with Here Comes the Sun playing on the 8-track. All these years later and I still cherish that memory.
I was away from home and feeling lonely when I listened to this song. It was winter and I was looking out the window - then the sun came out and a whole flock of robins landed in the yard. The song and the robins uplifted me.
When they broke up, lol. I was a wee one. Older kids were crying. Later in grade school, I understood why.

And, then, go to Hey, Bulldog, One After 909, and Why Don't We Do It In The Road. Love those! Well, mostly everything The Beatles did is worth a listen, but those are among my 'deep cut' faves. And, Across the Universe, but that's prolly well known, or better known. Cheers.

I grew up listening to & loving The Beatles. In the 7th grade our music class was dedicated to the Beatles! The whole year we dissected and listened to every Beatle album! Greatest class ever!
I watched them on T.V. in 1964 on the Ed Sullivan show... and, i've been in love with them ever since.
One of the amazing things about this song is that it was never released as a single by the Beatles, yet it is probably one of their most well known songs. You should react to "Hey Jude" if you haven't already.

I was just talking about why I love The Beatles so much yesterday. Funny, my dad left when I was 7, but he was a BIG BIG BEATLES FAN! So we listened to The Beatles day and night, every day on his record player. So that’s one fond memory I do have of him. I just remember all my life I’ve always listened to The Beatles. They are just Amazing.
