Since there were a few comments about this filming, I figured I'd chime in as I was lucky enough to be there. This was November, 2001 at the Irvine Auditorium on the UPenn campus in Philly. A&E did a good job splicing together a show, but the actual performance went about 4 hours. The kid from the audience who performs in one of the parts lived on my hall freshman year...this was a great time...thanks for posting and letting me reminisce...now I'm off to see the Face w Face tour in Phoenix!
It was definitely a great show although our seats were not fantastic. I saw them both in Philly during the 2002 Face 2 Face tour and was upgraded to front row, dead center...that was truly incredible. But they are amazing performers, and it was a wonderful evening. Hoping for the same from the Boss this Friday.
The only musician I've ever encountered who could equal the songwriting talent of Billy Joel is Al Stewart. Otherwise, his lyrics are as good as it gets. Just fabulous stuff.
I think he chose that first song because 9/11 happened less than two months prior. It also explains why that student asked about Miami 2017 (Seen The Lights Go Out On Broadway).
Summer, Highland Falls.... one of the greatest songs ever written.
From my favourite album of all time. Turnstiles. A masterpiece.
Icon doesn't begin to describe his status in the history of music. Highly intelligent, insightful, driven, compashinate. The real deal.
I almost spit out my cereal all over my laptop when he kicked off the fan!! HAHAHA... HE'S THE BEST!!!!
Summer Highland Falls is such an underrated song. This song gives me goosebumps!
It's great if you listen to him explain the meaning of the song. Happens to be the town I grew up in also...
The word "underrated" is overrated. So is "overrated." Devise a new vocabulary. If you can. Possibly impossible.
billy joel is fricking awesome!

Thank you for posting this! What a treasure.
4:36 I’m DYING!
Also, they better turn those lights down. Do you remember the LAST time they lit the audience? Russia 1987 - look it up on TH-cam.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for posting this!! I've been looking for one of his mater classes for like two years now. Billy Joel is a genius.
Thanks alot to Billy Joel for sharing his many experiences to us.
My all-time favourite song
one of his best
I know what's on the screen... but I still see the skinny kid with the 'fro' when I hear him sing...
he rules
Nenhuma semelhança.Billy é único.
Oh.. how I wish I could be in that concert :(

Summer, Highland Falls =)
yes it was, not too long after.
There's a video of that on TH-cam. I actually have the video of that whole documentary with that on there. Pretty awesome.
U r right... I won't!

i saw it in Phoenix just a few days ago as well. First time seeing either of them. Really transcendent eh?
Note owners of this material: I would be love to buy this via iTunes, ebay or Amazon - but is not available ( at least in Oz)
Oh it is the fan? I'll fix that *kick* lmao
Where is part 2 of 12?
This is a great video. Is there anyway to download this? I mean other than downloading it off of youtube, which I'm sure would have quality loss.
@momosportsgeek Can't believe nobody ever replied: it is a section of "Scenes From An Italian Rest." ;)
Please someone, anyone. Where can you buy this on DVD?
Is Billy Joel look like Daniel Barenboim? I think he's awesome!!
Thank you so much for putting this up, but respectfully the editing is terrible and there is lots of missing footage.
Does anybody know if you can get this on dvd?
Lol
Is that an NYPD pin he's wearing on his left hand side? Was this done after 9/11?
I think he chose that first song because 9/11 happened less than two months prior. It also explains why that student asked about Miami 2017 (Seen The Lights Go Out On Broadway).
Sadness or Euphoria. I Go to Extremes. He is like me. OCD. Depressed. Anxious.
No
you must admit his accent sounded a lot like george harrison at 8:32
He really sounds like Eddie Izzard xD
Clawrax WHERE? WHAT PART? I don’t hear it.
did he pay them back for the fan? lol
This posting is full of terrible editing and missing footage. To see the whole thing, search youtube for "Billy Joel in his own words".
He's not nice to his fans.
He kicked that fan in the video.
He kicked a fan...you obviously don't get the joke.
He usually is, it's just that one fan who pissed him off by humming during his performance.
Andrew Parke xD
he sucks. what about this feedback from hell? and the bad singing? is this a joke?
Lol. NonContribute bonerU
