Great video, thank you. The thing is, when one gets politicians point scoring by attacking us, it is hardly surprising that there is inequality in the NHS. What would be great is if the prescribing of hormones was dramatically speeded up.

Thank you so much for this I have no idea how I stumbled across this but glad I did. I work in community pharmacy and as far as I'm aware don't have any transgender patients but this video has given me a great start into looking into being able to provide good and accurate care and help provide information to their GPs if I ever need to. I wouldn't have had a clue where to start on finding guidelines for professionals and there are so many stories of trans and non-binary people going to their GP and being let down. All areas of the NHS need to work together and communicate to make sure people get the care they need.

What a wonderful, understanding, caring, thoughtful video - thank you Claire. As a transgender woman who started my transition over 50 years ago and now nearing 80 years old, I have seen attitudes change amazingly over that time from deliberately wanting to hurt you to fully accepting you for who you are.
Regrettably, there has been some increasing push back from some members of the NHS in the last few years who are determined to make you feel bad about yourself (although they are a very small minority, most are wonderful). The shock of what happened did make me feel suicidal - for the first time in over 50 years. Perhaps it was because I had just been diagnosed with cancer and just started treatment (the person who did it knew this and it was done maliciously and deliberately).
So thank you for this video and working to spread this information to your colleagues xx

Thank you Carol, I'll be sure to pass your comment on to Claire, unless you'd be happy to repost it on our site, and she will be notified. www.nurses.co.uk/blog/a-nurses--guide-to-transgender--and--non-binary-healthcare/

The whole thread on like, 'passability' is really important to dig into and I'm glad you did. I feel lucky to be relatively "passable" as a trans woman, and I feel sympathy for trans women who aren't by society's standards. And you're pointing out how ALL of that is a construct. And the difficult part for me to figure out is whether it's actually bad for me to feel good for "passing". I do have some view of myself that inherently is determined by the culture I learn, and I feel like it becomes a very complex question of self-perception, expectations and standards, what's healthy or not in both positive and negative emotions around all that...
But this is why I'm glad you're here doing this. We need to have these conversations.

As someone who is very accommodating of people not understanding, accidental misgendering does still hurt but I'll always forgive. Intentional misgendering genuinely invalidates our existence as individuals and the people we are. Dead-naming same thing. It's not about forcing anyone to do anything, it's about like... not going out of one's way to tear vulnerable people down for no good reason.
Very much appreciate and love you, Claire

Also your accent is so charming to me :P Northern England? Or is it Scouse? I've tried to learn as a Canadian who loves British culture lol (all of "Britain". I know you're English :P)

One other thing, I am CURRENTLY living next door to a Transphobe, she committed a Hate Crime against me, but the MOST the law could have done was get her on a Public Order Offence, I did not pursue it as basically nothing would have happened to her, so she got away with it.
