Me too. This is such an extraordinary experience. But now, it has added emotion, as I watch with great sorrow over the breakup and the loss of Winston Marshall. I don't think they've done anything new since they kicked him out. Tragic.
There's a really beautiful story behind this gig let me tell you: The radio station organized something called a line check. It meant that you had to stay on the phone as long it was needed to win. The only thing was only one person could win. The person who won was able to bring along only 50 people. The guy who won this gig stayed on the phone for like 140 hours straight which also meant he also broke the world record for most expensi... uhh I mean longest phone call ever. The guy who won had a girlfriend (4:13). The stepfather of his girlfriend went to Pinkpop in 2012 and took a CD with him back home from Mumford and Sons. They all liked the music back home. Then the stepfather of his girlfriend promised him and his girlfriend "We are going to a Mumford and Sons concert one day!". Sadly about a year and a half before this gig the stepfather heard he had cancer. One year later he passed away. The music of Mumford and Sons was also played at his funeral. So wasting those 140 hours of his life wasn't much of a waste at all. He did it all for his girlfriend and her stepfather. He kept the promise but made it even bigger. And as he said with his last words of his long phone call "ONLY LOVE WINS IN THE END!"
It's likely the call would disconnect at some point during those 140 hours, and he'd fall asleep sometime around 24-36 hours awake. Some loopholes in story but sounds good
Seeing the audience watch so intently, some distant, some fully engaged, letting the music take them to that person/memory/experience is something as beautiful as the music itself. You can almost feel the hurt or emotion in every set of eyes in that room. This is what music is about....
Beautiful comment. Thank you for sharing your brilliant thought process with us. You are a very astute intelligent and articulate person. Much love from New Orleans to EVERYONE 🙏❤️🇺🇲🙅
There is a very real distance between a musician and an artist. Marcus is a mix of virtuoso and therapist all at once. He magically blends an understanding of melody and the aching human soul.
I think the whole band should be included in this. All 4 have an equal input into the creation of the songs and the musical direction of the band. Not trying to take away from your praise of Marcus, just want to give the whole band the credit they are due.
If only all audiences were as terrific as this one. No drunken fools screaming. No fights. No shouting out when it gets quiet for a moment. Just a group of people enjoying a remarkable experience.
If I was there don't think I could sit still and I don't drink I would want to get everyone out of the seats and let the music move the people it's like there trapped

Everyone in this audience is stunning. Like actually stunning. And what a treat to see people so deeply engulfed in a musical, transcendent experience.
Listening to this collection of songs comes to the closest thing to feeling love that I can describe. Its full of sadness and feelings of things passing by while you do nothing about them. But also at times the beat in your heart makes you want to grab the closest living thing next to you and dance with them. Let yourself truly experience life as we should and learn to love all the little things in life. Stop fretting over minor inconveniences and enjoy your moments with the companions around you. We're social creatures, love yourself for that.
That's because it's so relatable... especially to me.
