@legacy gaming It's not that easy you can buy a 1000 crystals for $9.99 that is correct but you cannot buy 1100 crystals the next tier is 2200 crystals for $19.99 that's where they get you to spend the extra. Or am I missing something
It makes perfect sense, since this is a one time purchase. It makes you feel smart for figuring it out, and it makes you spend money on the store. And since you spend money once, you are more likely to spend it again.
Gets your feet wet in spending! Haha you're right though, but it's still an incredible deal, $11 for 6 months of $10 for 1 month is a huge difference. Also if you're like me and are used to paying for WoW sub, a one time payment of $11 is definitely nothing for that kind of "savings". I'm a total noob and don't even know if I need the stuff the aura give me, but for $11 I'm sold tbh.

Yeah the hard part is getting customers to tie their credit card to a game. Once you do that it makes future purchases less complicated so they are more likely to buy again. Also yeah it makes you feel like you are getting a deal so most will think less about the next purchase made
No problem spending that amount if the game is this good.
Its classic predatory marketing to act as a hook on people. Its nasty just like the design of the stores price points

Dude if your playing RIGHT NOW then you bought the bronze pack which means you have enough to just buy it for the $15 you already spent, if you think it that way.
This deal isn't a mistake, it's a hook. The goal is twofold, one is to get people that aren't sure about spending to cross that line, which makes future purchases easier. With the second being to keep light spenders around longer, making them more likely to keep spending. It's a pretty common tactic in f2p games to have one or two 'great' deals like this, with the rest of the shop aimed at whales. Keep in mind it also only seems like a 'crazy' deal because the rest of the virtual shop, the thing they run and can easily change costs so much more.
That said, at the end of the day it's a business, and people got bills to pay.
And knowing all of this, it was still an instant buy for me. it's 2600 blue crystals after all. I'm not going to be spending $10 on a little pet. But i'm sure at some point in the next weeks or months they will release "this awesome cool mount" or "this super cute pet" that I'd like to have. Then i'll feel much better spending those crystals instead of paying the full price.

@@Dampfaeus This is how I've pretty much viewed deals in f2p games like this. The long term outcome, for me, has consistently been worth it.
Note that you cant buy 1100 royals to get the Level Complete Pack. You have to buy 2000, which is 20 bucks, no 10.

This is something that should have been said.
The fact it's ignored it kind of annoying.
It also seems awkward to spend the other 900 you'd end up with cleanly, a character slot looking to be the best use of it but you still have 100 left over.
To be honest, I spend a certain amount of money per 40 hours of a game I play. Typically $10 if it's free to play (because I'm cheap). Like with League, I buy a skin once a month. This bundle doesn't seem bad at $11 considering I already have 10 hours in the game and don't intend on stopping.
This is me justifying my purchases.
Yeah it's a perfectly logical way of approaching it. I also believe if I'm playing a game for free, and I want to support the developers, I pay for some stuff...simple as that. I love what Lost Ark brings to the table, so I'm happy to spend a few bucks here and there. It's all about how you rationalize it.

It's a wrought - here in Aus you'd have to spend $26-27 to get those 1100 royals, as you can't buy 100, or even 200 or 500 bundles - 1000 is the minimum, with the larger 2000 bundle giving you 10% extra for 2200 total. If I get that, what's the other 1100 worth spending on then...?

I think this is a very common thing to have in a free to play store. It's to get you to break that barrier and start spending money.
But everyone that is playing right now has already broken the barrier.

So the pack is 1100 but you can only by crystals in 1000/2200/5750/12,000. This means you have to buy the 20.00 crystals to get enough for the chest. Wish you could buy them in any incriments.
I assume this is to keep people playing (staying active). To keep numbers higher of active players or something along those lines.

I don’t think they will take it down. Because imagine if they didn’t have this deal. Many players would still be F2P. But put in a deal that seems insane with a lot of perks you can hit an “untapped market”. I mean it is a good deal. But let’s not think they are losing money off of this.

This type of leveling for currency pack is pretty common in f2p games. It incentify people to invest both time and real life money so they will become a future addict/customer.
Yea honestly, I might get this if it is still around once I can play the game. I am playing the game because it is free to play and a neighbor has the game, so if there is a deal that is too good to pass up then they have already earned 11$ from me that they wouldn't have gotten otherwise.
If you spend money once you're likely to do it again. Very common trick in F2P games (especially Mobile games). "Good" deal is relative. If you were going to spend the money anyways, then yes, it's a good deal. If you weren't going to spend the money, then you're not "saving" anything, you are spending money, just like they want you to do.
They'll continually come out with new deals like this too.

What isn’t mentioned is that they only sell crystals in packs of 1000 and 2000 so you’re forced to spend $20

Its designed to entice those who werent going to spend money, into spending money, therefore increasing their likelihood of spending money again. Could have mentioned that in the video but you didnt. That price is also very much a digestible one. Compared to i.e BDO's shop, or other titles. I wish more would follow suit. Price the shops lower and people would feel enticed to spend more, and not feel ripped off. Win win.

They gift you 90-30 days "value packs" for free on the regular.

these kind of once per account deals on launch are pretty much in every Korean monetized games i've played in the past 4-5 years. it's a common thing in their monetization department.
As some already mentioned it’s a common practice to get ppl to spend and once they get a taste of those premium services then they’ll come back and spend at the normal price.
They wont take it down. A lot of games offer very cheap 1 time buys that require leveling to acquire as a boost into the game.
This is a classic mobile gacha game tactic: offer a super cheap deal that gives you a huge head start, and then leave you wanting more when you run out, and you run into a "sunk cost fallacy"
As someone who has plowed 45 hours into the game already, (founder), this will be a must. I've got 3 level 50s as most founders do, and feel like I'm definitely going to play this game long term. Thanks for the purchase suggestion. This was a great find!

Was a no brainer. I ordered the platinum founders pack which came with 7,000 royal crystals. I quickly purchased this pack as the return on investment is incredible.

Its a ONE TIME only purchase. This is a well established standard in MMOs, so I wasn't surprised at all, I was even scouring the shop immediately for such exact offer and I wasn't disappointed.

A lot of cash shop games have 1 time deals like this to entice you to spend which makes you substantially more likely to spend on other things later.
People who's pushing this doesn't mention that there's only 1000 crystal pack (10 bucks each) or 2200 crystal pack (20 bucks), so you have to buy either 2x 1000 crystal (10 bucks each) or 2200 crystal (20 bucks) to buy the only thing you want that cost 1100 crystal.
If this is not predatory I don't know what else.
This was also released before the game went F2P, and at that point, essentially everyone had crystals in their founders packs. Was simply a vid for those who intend to play the game long term and wanted to use Crystaline Aura to save money. Simple as that and we even explained it as such.
What you fail to mention is that you can only buy gems in 1000 or 2200 packs, and since that pack is priced at 1100, it doesn't cost 11 dollars. It costs 20 bucks, with gems left over. Typical predatory pricing.

@@SL-kc3uc But can't you trade the Royal crystals for blue ones or something along these lines? I only glanced over that menu, so I am not entirely sure, but it's not uncommon for the Korean mmo's to provide you with a way to buy their cash currency with gold. Only it's usually very expensive.
Ah I know this tactic. Genshin Impact (and Honkai Impact) have a similar thing, but it's more about logging in than leveling up. You pay 5 bucks for 30 days worth of their cash currency drip fed to you per day, and the value ends up being much higher than directly purchasing the cash currency normally - so long as you log in *every day*. I'll admit it's a smart F2P tactic, and pushes those who would typically stay as a free player into a paying one. It also pushes players to log in every day, thus more player retention and inflated numbers.
Lost Ark's may be only a one time purchase, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do something like this again.

The pricing makes sense. One is instant, and the other is over time w/c requires you to actually play the game. So, it's not entirely convenient upfront, but long-term.

Honestly it's a bit early to say, but going by initial impression I think the devs deserve this support tbf. This might be the first really WELL integrated eastern mmo ever! Not only is the game optimized well, but we also have an actually decent dedicated EU servers running the thing (thx Jeff, I hate you, but you did a good job for once) And overall it do be looking to be a job done right.

it's great for anyone that already purchased the gold or plat founders pack since they come with 4k and 7k crystals. The gold is $50 and you get $40 worth of crystals and 1 month of the aura, use those to buy this and you end up with 6+1 month of aura =7 months aura at $10 regular price you are getting $70 worth of crystaline aura or 7 months of it plus 2900 crystals worth $29 all for $50. Do the math that's a $99 value for $50. If you see yourself playing this long term, the Gold founders pack was a no brainer.

I rerolled my original character on a different server, i have been playing my original here and there just making a bit of money, something ive realized is that crystaline aura is the only item in the entire store that can be benificial cross server as the benefit is account-wide. So ive been farming gold through legion-raids mostly and trading gold for crystals with the only goal of sustaining my crystaline aura on my main server without affecting my gold supply.

I don't know if they fixed this but now it's not a super great value anymore. I mean, it's still good. But you can't just buy $11 in crystals to buy this bundle. You have to spend $20 on crystals. There's only the option to buy 1000 for $10 or 2200 for $20. So, while you need to drop $20 to get it now, you'll still have half of your crystals left from your initial purchase. So it's still pretty worth it? You just need to be okay with spending $20 instead of $11.
It's so cute seeing people get introduced to gacha style predatory microtransactions, first hit is free or dirt cheap, after you are hooked, have fun paying exorbitant prices, as always, there is nothing wrong with paying for convenience, as long as you are responsible about it
I saw this on launch day and bought it immediately thinking it was a mistake.
By no means it's a mistake. It's very clever if you think about it.
People will spend money thinking that they made a "profit", because they purchased something for a price way lower than usual, thus creating the illusion that they're smart, but in the end, they spend real cash anyway, so the developers successfully introduced the player base in their microtransaction model, gain a lot of money from it, and made their player base think they're smart so they'll be open for more future "smart" deals.
@@talesvinhais8503 yeah but for people who got the $50 founder pack we got $50 of gems with it already, so we get the founders pack + 30 days of aura with it + 6 months of aura on top of that for the same price as 6 months regularly.
@@Chaoticsaur I was thinking more about the F2P players that'll start tomorrow. People who bought the founder's pack are already willing to spend money on the game. The real genius play of this offer is to make f2p players overcome that resistance to pay for the first time. Once they do, it's a slippery slope.
P.S: I'm not condemning the company for doing this whatsoever. They have to make money some way. I'm just pointing out the psychology behind it.

This is the "Rank Up" style of monetization you see very often in Mobile Gacha games and other free to play games. It'll never be removed because it's designed as a double pronged hook to get you to invest more into the game. By having insane value but also gating it behind progress, not only does a pack like this get you to spend money on the game, but it gets you invested to play all the way into the end game to get your money's worth.
For the average player, yes this pack is extremely worthwhile to buy, but just be careful, as the first purchase can lead to a slippery slope and if your spending habits are difficult for you to control, it can lead to problems.
As for the pack itself, it'll likely stay a permanent one time purchase, but it *MIGHT* refresh on events and major content updates.
I was going to say that a lot of what you said is really stupid because it is a one-time purchase designed to reel in people...but other people have already addressed this. Many other games have a newcomer's pack like this that is heavily discounted.

Silver pack is not a good deal. If you wanted the early access, should've bought the bronze one. Otherwise gold was the best bang for your buck.

Why are you advising people to only use the crystals on the crystalline aura? The level complete pack is obviously amazing value but there's absolutely no reason to lock in 6 months of aura. Could use it on anything else too.

this is a tad misleading ... its not "just one dollar more" -- you need to buy the 2k crystal pack to get the 1100 RC's, which is more than just $1 more than the aura pack.

This is false information its 1100 for that pack and it cost $10 for 1000 so you need to spend $20 to get the second pack for 2200.
Good find, however, the blue crystals are used for many other things in game. Personally, I wouldn't use blue crystals to buy crystalline aura just yet.

I take it that you have not played many phone gacha gamesor gacha games in general. The package you mention is a verry common thing that they do with 1-2 packages to make ppl actually spend money to get it. Make it so appealing that you cant resist it. And increassing the chance of them spending money again afterwards cuz they already spent some.

Yeah but by just playing the game, you get free crystals. Typically just from leveling from 1 to 50, you'll end up with 200+ blue crystals as a f2p player. So you can pay $10 for that 1100 purchase as a f2p EASILY.

good money tactic. They intentional sold this for 1100 to lure potential buyers and then also set the lowest amount of crystal you can buy is 1000. Therefore you actually have to spend 24 dollars(Canadian for me) to actually use it.

The reason this is profitable for the company is they expect people will spend real money, far more than $11 to purchase the required gems, and those gem packs are conveniently $10 for 1000 gems which is not enough for the pack, $20 for 2200 crystals, and $50 for 5750 crystals.

Ehh, its more like costing 20 bucks, since you have to buy the $20 crystal pack. This thing costs 100 more than the $10 crystal pack, so you are forced to go up. Even if you get other things, you are required to get the $20 pack, even if there isn't anything else you want to buy.

This is a method that lot of mobile games use, giving lot of crystals spread on a set duration, and instance but less amount of crystals for higher price.
