It amazes me how you’re actually building a house yourself!! First I thought maybe you are just assisting and won’t do the whole thing But seeing you working so hard for your dream home is just mesmerising! Well done truly!
It’ll all be worth the wait Roxy and Matt! Think about how pretty you’ll be able to decorate it cosy for autumn in a year or two. Think about the beautiful family memories you’ll make. Any animals you might get. Christmas decor ect. Will be all worth it xx
As a Realtor I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you building a modern home rather than renovating a home to be modern. I enjoyed the tiny house build series and am a big fan of this series too.
So happy for you Roxi, i have been following you for years and its been a whole journey for you and Matt with your home life building up to this point now. I really hope you both can finally settle somewhere and all that hard work pays off for you! Its admirable. Keep going and look after eachother❤
You can definitely get a product that stains red bricks darker. A house near us was renovated and they changed the external brick from 70s pale pink like elastoplast to a darker orange red, plus the bricks now have variety in the colour rather than all being uniformly pale pink
Ugh yay Roxi thank u for the real time update been waiting to see the house finished for ages 😅😍🫶🏽 congrats it looks gorg can’t wait for the decor videos xx
Guys word of warning ... we have huge amounts of glass too. The mhrv will make zero difference you need openings everywhere .. honestly you have no idea how warm these homes are. It's currently 28c in our house and it's 18 outside. All our windows are tripple glazed which is supposed to limit thermal gain .. but eh .. yeah no 😅 I'm currently MELTING. Love the progress !
Oh no! that's awful! I hope ours will be ok, we do have a low G value glass everywhere where it's south facing, and also the overhang will hopefully shade most of the glass downstairs too. We would like to install aircon too, just to future proof it.
@Roxxsaurus the over hang will help big time! Definitely consider the aircon, we are looking into it now. Its way easy to do at the time of the build though ha ha !
that's quite funny cause i was watching your other video about your house earlier today ! Thanks for the work you put into your videos, i happy to learn more about your project :)
Out of curiosity, what does Matt do for a living? He’s right in there with the construction, & seems to know exactly what he’s doing. Is he a construction engineer?
I suggest you get rid of the dark ones that you were in love with, the bricks and concentrate on the ones that you are getting because I think it gives you a little sadness because of what you wanted. I get it we all go through that especially with building you have to compromise and it’s hard but taking away that dark brick will take away something dangling in your face saying you can’t have that you know. I also like the dark but I do believe what you are using is going to be beautiful and stunning especially with that wood composite as the trim, it will give a modern look that will be beautiful & unique.
Yeah it definitely does feel like that! I don't mind the new ones but of course my preference was for the dark ones. I am happy and grateful though, that I found something that's so close for much much less.
May be the lighter brick will be better when is hot outside, because the dark one will become to hot to even touch it and possibly make the interior hot too. Also hope you have more windows that can open , just incase it becomes to hot inside , you don't want to feel like in a sauna. If you worry about the cat going out, sliding window enough to let so air ventilation with a little stopper so she can't push it will work. Or a Catio for her by one of the side smaller windows so you can fully open it any time and she will be safe.
Idk how you're able to keep going, building house, TH-cam videos .. hope you find enough time to unwind an relax ☺️✨ love to see another house update video. ❤
As an Australian I’m dying to know what a heat wave is like over there? I’d probably love it, 40 degrees Celsius and more and we’ll still all be out in the heat at work. Just a normal Sydney summer day 😂
Our house was a converted pub and all the windows downstairs didn't open. We have replaced them all with opening ones. You'll regret them not being able to open!
Hmm that might be the case for people who tend to open windows, as we have an indoor cat we don’t really tend to open windows much, but when we want to we will also have the big opening sliding doors in almost every room ☺️
Stunning house totally ❤but damn can’t help feeling bad for the neighbors at the house next to you, why build it so close that it takes away their view of the forests 😬😢x
I suspect the local planners insisted that the new house went in the same place as the old house, but obviously the neighbours will have had years and years with NO house there
@@rosehughes599 That's usually the case IF the structure of the old house is kept which I don't see to be the case. The shape of the lot and the neighbours, if any, or the zoning regulation when it comes to function guide the maximum buildable volume. It might just be that the lot is small and has an odd-shape - I can see they're limited on one side by the road and on the other by the neighbours. There is enough distance that the new building doesn't take away their sunlight but yea, I agree it's normally not great to overdevelop a lot and have the neighbouring houses' price go down. This thing might also change future regulation or inspire future new buildings near them to do the same thing, unless that's their plot of land too so they can keep it open.
Just curious, how does outdoor pool work in the winter, especially at houses like yours? Do you cover or drain it all winter or any other option maybe? Sending love from tropical country here where pool opens all year long 🥰
@@Roxxsaurus yeah, the cladding looks really nice but i think the beige/warmer tone bricks would look better i will put some in the replies if i can find some 😃
I like how humble you title it “…the UK’s Most Modern Home…”! lol Jokes aside, I always really enjoy the house updates & you working on it! Fun & entertaining video as always! Best wishes ❤
It was actually an Ai suggestion 🤣 I thought I may aswell try it out and see if it gets more viewership with this type of title! Guess we will see haha

Literally sooo cool !! So happy for you guys ❤
You are a beautiful lucky girl. Love your vlogs on your new home xxxSharon
Love the series... Congratulations on the progress.
Looks so amazing!!! Honestly so happy for you two 🫶🏼
Wow the progress is incredible 😍
Are u fr? There's no way that u build a house, a sophisticated one, by yourself! 😮😮😮❤❤❤
Haha my husband is a diesel technician for the cranes, the actual really big ones that go on tall tall buildings here in Las Vegas.
it looks amazing already, hope everything goes well ❤❤
I’m so happy for you ❤❤❤
that's quite funny cause i was watching your other video about your house earlier today ! Thanks for the work you put into your videos, i happy to learn more about your project :)
Just a heads up, Based on experience a flat roof on the long term will have a higher chance for leaks just make sure to check it regularly.
Out of curiosity, what does Matt do for a living? He’s right in there with the construction, & seems to know exactly what he’s doing. Is he a construction engineer?

It's hard not going to lie! That's why I don't post as much on IG and TikTok these days, but TH-cam will always have my full undivided attention!
Planting big shade trees would also be good, keeps temp down
Jestem z Ciebie słoneczko mega dumna!!!!
Roxy could you do a shopping vlog and haul for autumn decor? X
As an Australian I’m dying to know what a heat wave is like over there? I’d probably love it, 40 degrees Celsius and more and we’ll still all be out in the heat at work. Just a normal Sydney summer day 😂
The problem is the humidity, it’s just so muggy and gross 🤣 nothing like dry heat abroad, that I can stand!
Love this series!!
OMGGGGG I LOVE IT SO MUCH I WANT MORRREEE
Feliz por ti y tu esposo , felicidades de todo corazón , está hermoso todo 🤭
so exciting
Good job ❤
I'm always excited to watch your house updates it's sooo impressive, do you and Matt have architects degrees?

I wonder how the lighter bricks would look painted. So you could still have the darker color and the texture, but with the cheaper option.
It reminds me of the Cullen's home in Twilight
Omg biggest compliment ever! I remember being so in awe of that house and dreamt of one day having a home like that 🥹

id definetly have to make a roof area
I love u roxxyy ❤❤❤
Do a black grout with the lighter brick this will help darken them
Nice and u can build indoor swimming pool
Just curious, how does outdoor pool work in the winter, especially at houses like yours? Do you cover or drain it all winter or any other option maybe? Sending love from tropical country here where pool opens all year long 🥰
Heated pools
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤
😍😍
When do you anticipate the house to be complete
i think a brick with a bit of warmth in would look better otherwise the house is going to look quite dull and uninviting
There will be quite a bit of wood look cladding on the house also!
