I have also watched since I can remember and I will be 57 in a couple of weeks Love Jacques , he looks like my dad and talks like my dad my father is french Canadian .
Same here - 55! I’ll add one and say I also remember watching Julia on WGBH after Mr. Rogers. In the days before PBS advertised other shows they played Take 5 by Dave Brubeck between broadcasts. Not a bad way for the under 5 set to pass an afternoon: puppets, French cooking and jazz. 2/3 of that is exactly the same today! ♥️
I love that he’s so accomplished, but still cuts the potatoes mom-style in his hand directly into the bowl. Love seeing these glimpses of Jacque as a home cook!
So I love him and I pray he’s doing well after Gloria died which is heartbreaking, after you have been married for so long there is a dependency on each other, may our lord assuage your loss my friend, Now potato-salad is interesting because everyone has their own way usually by a older relative and I am no different because I love my mom’s made with russet potatoes, hard boiled eggs sweet relish which must be Del Monte’s celery, green onions and in California it’s Best Foods mayonnaise. And salt and pepper and a spoonful of mustard usually what I have in the fridge and if you really want to guild the lily it gets chopped bacon. Where did mom get this recipe? Probably out of a magazine in the 1950’s, that was so big back then. I miss my mother so much and recreating her food for a brief moment I am with her again. Love Jacques and all his lovely recipes, what a gift this sweet man is.
I love these videos . He is simply showing you how to prepare a dish. There's no time limit, no one screaming at you, no, you only have three ingredients to prepare a six course meal B.S. So many of the so called "cooking " shows now are such a joke.
I agree, these vids are relaxing. Yeah, those competition cooking shows all suck. With the exception of the original Iron Chef (Japanese version) I refuse to waste my time watching any of them.
I am a huge Jacques Pepin fan. As soon as I discovered him I realized how useless the Gordon Ramsays of the world are. They don't show you how to cook but they only seem to want to impress you. Jacques never wants to impress, he just wants to cook and he wants you to share his passion about cooking. I literally cannot get enough of him.
An excellent base recipe that one can "riff" on and make it endlessly variable by changing the herbs, seasonings, mustard and added proteins. This is what mastering technique is all about
Jacques, so glad to see you on uTube. For many years I've enjoyed your presentations on PBS. Such a gentleman and professional. Thank You. Happy to subscribe.
JP comes through so often. His demo's with no fancy equipment most people don't have. No impossible to find ingredients. No multiple hours or days of preparation. JP is simple, yet masterful.
Monsieur Pepin you are a treasure. So glad you made America your home but it is a loss to France! Thank you for many years of excellence and grace. We can all continue to learn from your European upbringing as many Europeans seem to appreciate a slower and more 'homemade' lifestyle. Merci beaucoup. Encore de nombreuses annees pour vous!
Forget Gordon, Bobby Flay, Alton Brown, Guy The Hipster, forget them all. They all fall short to the true King and Queen of cooking: my man Jacques and of course Julia Child.
FOOD52 Thank you for these times with Jasque Pepin!!!! He is just the most respected and loved chef. So self assured, gentle, calm and pleasant to learn from. MORE. MORE. MORE.
This is how I make my potato salad! I even mix the dressing in the (mayo) jar! If there is any left over, I mix in a tin of tuna and that's my lunch next day.
I have always been a fan and watched you over the many years. You, Julia and Lidia have shown people the basics, to be fearless, how to improve their cooking techniques, and try new dishes. I am always learning in the kitchen. For that, I thank you! 🙏 😊
This man is my hero. I have been watching him for 35 years now and with his recipes and techniques, I have made our friends and family so happy. God bless you Jacques
OMG, just came across this channel and subscribed immediately. I am a bug fan and have been for years. I am a 56 year old black woman loving on this man❤💘. I love to cook. Anytime someone would ask me, which Chef I would most like to have a meal with: Jacques Pepin I would always say.🍖🍅🍗🍜
Wow, this rocked. Best potato salad I ever had. The chef hasn't failed me in more than 30 years of doing his recipes. The ingredients are easily adjusted to get the tang that you want. This ranks up there at the top with his Charles De Gaul leg of lamb. Or his chicken thighs with a cognac and mushroom sauce. And this was just a potato salad!😋
Oh Jacques! It’s been so long! I remember watching your cooking shows on Public Television years and years back. You helped inspire my love of cooking, and the love that goes into creating delicious food. I cannot thank you enough. I know that time marches on irregardless...I’ve always thought of you as timeless and will always see the spritely, erudite gentleman of the kitchen and hearth.
WickedKingyooan : no Monsieur , please avoid writing FRENCH , FRANCE is féminin no masculin , PÉPIN is a name then why add ' le or la ? ' VIVE LA FRANCE, VIVE PÉPIN ! conclusion, don't be ridiculous..
Chef Pepin is such a motivational human being. He shares his beautifully prepared dishes with classic elegance. Most of all, with simplicity. He inspires those of us who are just plain novices at cooking with a can do spirit. Jacques Pepin is rightfully a true legend in the culinary world and is a pure delight to watch as he makes recipes that are born right before our eyes. Viva Jacques!
I can remember watching chef Pépin back in the 70's as a kid... I didn't understand what I was watching back then, but I sure enjoy his instructions now....
Chef good morning, I love the fact that you’re sharing so many beautiful and simple and inexpensive recipes with us online. My children can watch you and it’s like you’re going to a cooking class and they love it because we can afford most of these items and it’s easy for them to do especially with your patience and the explanation you gave. God bless.
My mom used to make hot potato salad w dressings mostly mayonaise, mustard, salt n a bit sugar to added some sweetness to it love you chef n good health ❤❤❤❤
Let food by thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food. What a wonderfully simple potato salad from a master chef. The only other thing I would add is diced onion.
I love JP. His studio is in his home in Madison CT. I grew up close by and was friendly with the 5 kids who lived there back in the day. I was at the home many times. Just old memories but still alive thanks to JP.
The master what a treasure Jacques is. Ive been enjoying his cooking since I was a little boy. Im 57 now.
I have also watched since I can remember and I will be 57 in a couple of weeks Love Jacques , he looks like my dad and talks like my dad my father is french Canadian .

Yes I am 63. Grew up watching this genus and Julia Child. Loved it then and love it now. PBS is my cable then and now
Jacques Pepin warms my little boy heart
Lol mine too
I love that he’s so accomplished, but still cuts the potatoes mom-style in his hand directly into the bowl. Love seeing these glimpses of Jacque as a home cook!
Watching JP cook is like watching an artist paint. Such a wonderful human being.
I know this is an old video, but thank you for making my day happy, and thank you making the world a better place with your presence! Happy Cooking!
If Jacques had his own channel and was on 24/7 I would be watching all the time. I love Jacques videos.
He has full almost daily episodes of Facebook
Aw i love this precious man, appreciate his simple and genius approach in all his creative recipes. Mayogrette: genius! 😋😍

Jacques is a living legend, the master of simple, elegant, delicious food. ♥️
The moment I see chefs talking about some exotic ingredient that I have to search every grocery store for I'm out.
I love these videos .
He is simply showing you how to prepare a dish.
There's no time limit, no one screaming at you, no, you only have three ingredients to prepare a six course meal B.S.
So many of the so called "cooking " shows now are such a joke.
The cooking shows that irritate me are the ones against a time clock.
I agree, these vids are relaxing. Yeah, those competition cooking shows all suck. With the exception of the original Iron Chef (Japanese version) I refuse to waste my time watching any of them.

To French people, food is a cultural product. To Americans, an invitation to competition.
Fluppi Can’t stand Gordon Ramsay with his vile language anyway.

Sir Pepin I bow humbly before your skill and desire to educate others about the joys of cooking.

Jacques Pepin is an international treasure.
I love seeing him using Hellman's mayo in his dressing. Jacques knows what he's about. Always a pleasure seeing him
He cleans out his jar. I love it! I’m no different when it comes to that.

As always....pure cooking magic by Pepin
I love this man....his very simple ways, wasting nothing and the elegant celebration of food.
That is an awesome potato salad. The man is an educational genius, a blend of incredible skill and relatability.
The master. Jacques, Julia and Jeff taught me to cook. Jacques is the only one left.
Jacques, blessings to you and yours!

Clean out the mustard jar with water - no waste. I love it. Most chefs on shows never clean out their pans, bowls, or jars!
I can remember watching chef Pépin back in the 70's as a kid... I didn't understand what I was watching back then, but I sure enjoy his instructions now....
I love this simple recipe, it looks very tasty, and the way Jacques peeled the cooked potatoes was a helpful technique to learn!
Jacques is the Man👍

Julia & Jacques cooking together on PBS. That is what got me hooked a long time ago!
I knew of Julia Child, but only until today did I discover Jacques Pépin, was on PBS in the 80s? Maybe he started airing in the 80s?
Cant wait to try this ...also v.economical and healthy xxx

As opposed to ego maniacal bully chefs.
