It's so weird, every time I drink Gatorade, I un cap it, hold the cap, take a sip and cap it again immediately. I've never had a situation where I just leave it uncapped long enough to lose the cap.

Another tip when you do wood working, or machining in a shop, keep a tube of orajel handy, the lidocaine in it is a great anesthetic to help dull the pain of wood or metal sliver removal, apply and wait about a minute before extracting.

Here's another one. If you want to see if a tire has a hole in it, and where, you can mix a little dish soap into a container of water and mix it. Pour the mixture over the tire and wherever bubbles form, that's your leak.

11:00 you can also mix any form of salt, table salt, kosher salt, Himalayan pink salt, into your soap lather. It removes onion, garlic, even fish odors. I don't know why or how. Also, salt is a good mild abrasive to get paint or motor oil out of the dermal grooves of your hands and fingerprint texture.

Ex-Cellphone repairman here. DO NOT use silica beads or rice to remove moisture from your phone. It's only passively removing the moisture and takes a long time. You want to ACTIVELY remove the liquid from your phone, as quickly as possible to avoid corrosion. Corrosion can take place in a matter of minutes so quick removal of liquid can save your phone. Do this by putting it in front of a fan or other high wind source. Remove your memory card, and battery if you can, then dry it out as quickly as possible with a fan. Do not put it in the oven, as heat is even worse for a phone than liquid.

Drying the phone itself is bad - it leaves all the salts (that were in the water) still on the circuitry. Use alcohol instead. (Yes, plain old rubbing alcohol [also called mineral spirits].) it washes the salts out and absorbs the water. A few thorough alcohol washes and the phone is dry and clean.

Two things that could have been added to this video: Ever notice the spiral painted on the cone of the aircraft engines? This is there to let ground-crew know if an engine is running which is sometimes hard to tell without that spiral. Also, drink bottles have the indent on the bottom for two reasons, if a bottle freezes without that indent it would split from the pressure of the ice, with the indent it expands to relieve the pressure. Also, it is a good way for the manufacturer to let you think you are getting more product for your money when in fact you are just buying air.

On each side of a tin opener you’ll see where the metal has a hook shape cut out,
Not only is this for pulling the lid back after you have opened it, or used as a bottle opener for you ice cold beers,
It can also be used for releasing the pressure inside new food jars, where the air was removed during the process of sealing the produce before shipment from the factory to the store, keeping the produce fresh,
Just use it the same way as opening a beer bottle on the jar, when you hear a popping sound, you have released the pressure letting air back into it, making it easier to turn and remove the lid,

As long as you don't intend to use the bottle or jar again for keeping things fresh, because you essentially ruin the cap's air tight seal. Putting anything hot back into the jar and turning the lid will kill most bacteria in the air pocket that is created and as soon as it cools down you'll hear the same satisfying pop of the lid created by the vacuum of the air shrinking. This is how you'll know if the seal is in tact. Same goes for new jars: if you can press the lid inwards and hear that pop, then that means there's no vacuum. Thus the air tight seal was undone.

The effect of copper and subsequently brass, is called the Oligodynamic effect. I sent a major door hardware manufacturer an email about it around a year ago so they could advertise the finish as beneficial against bacteria. They wouldn't even have to change their manufacturing process. They replied that they were focusing on a new line with some kind of chemical agent in the finish (which will eventually fade/fail). Silver has the same property which is why it was originally used for cutlery. They didn't know why, but noticed the results.

    • @taylorcliff6609
      @taylorcliff6609 2 ปีที่แล้ว

or though this is true. there is so much evidence/proof/studies that drinking water or eating food contaminated with trace levels of copper and/or other heavy metals cause serious health implications including liver failure and death. it does have natural anti bacterial properties but it will still start to break down into elements harmful to humans. copper is also prone to pitting, making cleaning for any type of profession almost impossible which is why we use stainless in almost every place where anti bacterial and cleanliness is priority. silver is a soft metal and cant be used alone for utensils so its mixed 92.5% silver and 7.5% of a more resilient base metal like copper. sterling silver and real silver are 2 different things.

On a budget you can take cedar wood shavings and put those into the end of a pair of pantyhose close the hole and hang that in your closets that will keep moths out too. I had a cedar tree blow down in a storm and saved a lot of the chips that came out of the chainsaw for making cedar balls to hang in a closet. Cost me nothing but chainsaw gas.
Another tip not mentioned in this video. If you want to keep insects out of your pasta you can use one or two bay leaves. Just put those in with the past and no more insects. Throw them away when you use your pasta.
Further comment: I used one keyboard so long that the bump on the F and J got worn off. I had to take a soldering iron and melt the keys to create another bump to feel because I do touch typing.
Jeans used to have a rivet in the crotch area where stress is especially common and if your jeans rip open there it's especially embarrassing. The reason they don't anymore is because people in the past often didn't wear underwear. Squatting around a cook fire would cause those rivets to heat up. Upon standing the hot rivets would come into contact with tender flesh and the jean companies stopped putting a rivet right in the crotch of their pants due to popular demand.

Not everyone has a closet made of cedar wood. Most people don't have a cedar wood closet, because of the cost of the wood. Higher end homes do have cedar wood closets, but the average joe, simply has drywall covering the walls, ceiling. Cedar is an awesome wood to use in many different areas in your home, but add to the final cost dramatically. The not so rich, everyday common person will use either drywall, plywood or toung and groove boards for lining the closet walls. But mothballs will always be used to eradicate moths in their closets, sadly this is the only affordable option to combat the moths.

My friends would throw out their favorite mix tape because a boom box ate it😁😒. I would snip off the ate up portion of the tape. Use the clear nail polish to combine the two ends together. Let dry( take walk to the corner store. Buy a 60 or 90 min maxell tape.) By the time you get home its dry. Record the mended mix tape to the blank tape. It will be missing a small portion of the mix on both sides but at least you get to save the rest of the mix. 10 bucks in my pocket. Happy friend.

6:49 working on computers, particularly laptops? Keep colored nail polish in your repair/tool kit for that, too. The cheap stuff is basically the same as Loctite but can be bought for a dollar rather than the more expensive stuff. And since it conforms to the space between the threads, it still comes out easily enough, but not on its own. And if you’re smart... you’ll color code those different sizes and locations for next time you need to take that laptop apart. :) dad taught me that years ago. In a pinch, fine glitter polish works, but chunky does not. Colored is better than clear as it’s often thicker, but clear works too, just vibrates out occasionally. Go for the bright colors with tons of pigment in them.
    Edit: oops I a word

Those rivets still serve the purpose they were meant for. Also he spoke about apple's iMessage having those dandy little secrets, but didnt mention one of the biggest secrets, the added button on the back of some models of iPhone, if you've ever bought a case for your iPhone and found that it has a hole that when the phone is in, leaves the apple logo on full display, chances are you've got a model with the secret "apple button", you have to activate it with some tech magic that I cant go through because it's sort of long and complicated (use google if you feel a need for it) but this button actually allows you to do different things, depending on how you configure the buttons settings

Nail polish also makes a great alternative to torque-stripe.
All of the bolts on my aircraft's propeller are torque-striped with bright pink nail varnish.
I also replaced the torque-stripe on her tyres with red nail varnish that my wife no longer wanted.
For those who don't know, torque-stripes are marks which are placed across two surfaces which should not move relative to each other - usually a bolt and the surface to be secured but is often also applied to aircraft tyres where the tyre meets the rim of the wheel. If the bolt should start to come undone (or, the tyre creeps), the torque-stripe will crack and flake off, giving a very clear indication that close inspection may be required.
