    Boy I had great expectations, but I was disappointed in the taste of this. This is my 3rd nacho cheese recipe try. ( only room for error) was I just don't know if my onion was sweet or not. switched to plant based only a month and half ago, and gosh, I'm not having a lot of luck finding recipes that are good. I understand, I have to go thru a palate shift. I currently have 6 vegan cookbooks from the library in my possession. I would say only one out of every 7-8 recipes I try, are actual keepers. I think you are so genuine, I enjoy watching your videos. Your journey is truly an inspiration. I'm so bummed. I am 0-5 this weekend in the good recipe hunt, I understand why people walk away from the lifestyle. How many Meh? meals can one person endure.

    Hi Heather! I'm vegan - becoming. Have given up land animals, eggs and dairy. Still eat tuna but actively phasing this out too. Can't wait to try this. :-) I don't have the best digestion, but found oats to be very healing. And a lot of additives in vegan cheeses like agar agar and carrageenan really upset my tummy. So i'm excited to try a vegan cheese sauce with oats and w/o those other things! Thank you so much!

      After you've been plant based for a while, try Toona-salad made of sunflower seeds. Even if recipe doesn't call for it, PRESOAK the nuts. Loved this so much. I'd been missing tuna

    That looks amazing, yes i defiantly need a food processor bcz i need to make that cheese and adding water would make it more liquefied. That looks so amazing, I'm so glad i found your channel. ❤ I'm so excited to know theirs a cheese that has no cashews, their way to fattening.

    Hello Heather! I have a similar recipe but uses cashews instead of tofu, so am eager to try your recipe! I, too am so glad Dr. G. has lifted the veil off soy! How long will this keep refrigerated? Thanks for your great videos!

      I loved the taste of the cashew one but not the high fat content. This gave me a similar texture and flavor with much less fat. Plus, I won't binge on plain tofu but I will binge on cashews given the chance. LOL

    Recipe sounds great! You did not state the amount of nutritional yeast used. How much?

    • @snappysnap955
      @snappysnap955 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just from the look of it, I'd say it was 1/2 C, possibly closer to 2/3 C...but it's probably to taste. Maybe start with 1/2 C and go from there, until the flavor is right for you.

      Because it is not nut based, I think you should be able to...gently heat it...very low heat, stirring frequently.

    I will try the cheese sauce looks good.. have you calculated the total calories in the cheese sauce? + divided in portions?
    ( I dont like the one with potato/carrot)

    • @thebutterflyeffect-plant-b3067
      @thebutterflyeffect-plant-b3067  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the whole recipe, there are 1043 calories. It makes at least 8 servings (probably more) so I would estimate that it has: 130 calories, 17 carbs, 2 g of unsaturated fat, a whopping 11.5 g of protein, and it's high in B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, Folate, Vitamin A and Vitamin C, Copper and Iron and calcium. I would say it's a good addition to a vegan's diet.

    Hi Heather, I'm fairly new to your channel.
    Would love to try this but wondering about the miso. Ive never used it and don't know which one to buy : yellow white or red? Also what else can I use it in besides miso soup? It looked like a huge container that might be hard for me to use up. Could I substitute something else like Braggs liquid amminos? Thank you for doing videos like this.

    • @thebutterflyeffect-plant-b3067
      @thebutterflyeffect-plant-b3067  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You can substitute salt (1 t to 1 1/2 t) but I would not recommend Bragg's because it would give it a weird taste. If you do try miso, I would get mellow white or yellow miso. I use it in hummus too (I want the probiotics) and soup and other things that I want to be salty.
