  • FINALLY!!!, after so many requests, I show you how I make the spine finder you see on my videos. When repairing or building a golf club the spine finder is a key element in our process.
    for parts need to make the finder go here in the tools section:

    The spine finder was very easy to put together. Thanks for suggestion.

    I built my spine finder out of a 12” piece of 1-1/2” PVC pipe, two PVC 1-1/2” x 1-1/4” couplings, and three Fafnir S9KDD (1-7/8” OD x 7/8” ID) bearings. Cut the 1-1/4” end off each coupling leaving the shoulder at the coupling.

    • @tman3399

      Added before I was done...oops. The bearing fits right inside nice and tight in the coupling. I did not glue the coupling to the pipe, just let it be a slip on fit. These bearings did have seals, but I used my razor knife to pull one seal out of each bearing. That way I can quickly spray some lubricant on the bearing before use to make them spin nice and smooth if needed. I usually place the side of the bearing that still has the seal facing out just to help keep it cleaner. Hope this all makes sense.

    I had access to a metal lathe so i was able to take out the rubber seals and machined the inside to fit the bearings solid.... this was fun to build and i look forward to building a custom set of irons with my son's.... awesome videos by the way... thanks!

    If you look in the electrical Dept they have a type of conduit clamp called a mineral lapse it has a mounting hole on the bottom and a screw on top to tighten the clamp onto the pipe . They come in a normal conduit / pipe sizes . I used 2 and it's very secure

    I built a spine finder just like yours I also purchased a laser light like yours they both work great. My question Is where in your opinion do I the spine or flo light in the club head 12 o’clock , 3 o’clock, 6 pm or 9 o’clock ?

    Hey Jim, really enjoy your videos. Weird question: I can actually see the seam on my Modus 105's. Is there any reason to now "find the spine"? In other words, is there a direct correlation between the seam and the spine?

    Does the spine only matter on static epoxy shafts. Since the new drivers can be rotated which does away with any spine alignment... great video thanks ...will make one for irons...

      If your using a driver that has adjustable sleeves (callaway, titlest) you should be fine. If you use shaft rotating adaptor (ping , taylormade) find out what your playable setting is and set 90 degrees left of spine and that should align it with your spine and swing plane.

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you can orient the shaft in the adjustable model however when you tinker and move it the spine surely will move. The Callaway adjustable tip does not move when adjusted. Which was a BIG reason for bringing them on a few years ago.

    I have a stupid question. When you use a spine finder, find the spine, mark it and that goes at 12 o’clock when the head is applied. Should the FLO be located at 90 degrees from the spine? Also when glueing the head, the FLO should be located toward the target - correct? I am just having a hard time that when the spine and FLO is located, where should they be located in relationship to the head? Thanks for your help. Really enjoy your videos.

      The spine is placed at 1200 the head is place toe up in line with the spine. twang up and down.

      pickin4you I’m in the quick center camp. Glass beads although small represent a hazard in my mind.

    The compression fitting isn't available right now on Amazon. May I ask how long the fitting is? I found one at Lowe's that is 4 inches long. Would that work or should it be longer?

      @@McGolf Well you didn't exactly say it out right but are we to take from what you did say that the spine (hard side) should be aligned with the toe? Thanks.

  • @Epa798
    @Epa798 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    could you explain to me how does it work?

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      when applying stress to the shaft through the unit a "hard side" is found this is used in the alignment of building golf clubs.

    • @Epa798
      @Epa798 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      McGolf Custom Clubs can you explain me like the instructions. I see you insert the shaft and then... apply pressure down and what is gonna happen to the shaft?

    • @McGolf

      Steel fiber is a great shaft to be sure. No spine would be a hard sell. Glad you are striping them
