Really enjoyed this vid mate, great playing too. Also thanks for the primary speaker out tip. I have a 50w, it's good to see someone who knows what they're looking at happy with these things, just recently had a bunch of trouble with an MT15, I have more confidence in the evh.
i think the 100W blue channel is the best out of all the amps ive never tried the 100W stealth or the 100W el34. Ive only owned the 50W 1x12 combo and i own right now the 50W el34 head and a 50W stealth head is on the way😏
cool trick with the stealth, is using the gain from the blue channel to affect the red channel. It’s a bit like having an overdrive pedal in how you can tailor the character of the distortion!
Heyy mate! Should this sound exactly as a sealth once that the mod is done? do both amps have the exact same circuit, components and values? (other than the values modified here)
I have a question for you on the blue channel ,that jumper wire that comes from the v1b to just after the v1a,is the blue channel using both sides of the v1 tube?it appears to be working in the schematic if i understand it correct ?
I really appreciate you going through the schematics, never knew you could actually do this... btw you're a killer player, you made the evh roar, what speakers did you have it plugged thru? Very brown sound indeed, cheers!
I own a 50 watt Stealth, had a 100 watt el34 model for a minute too. Before I owned the Stealth I had a 6505+ 120 watt head, which is the same amp as the 5150ii. To me, they are just different, not better. For example, the 6505+ just worked better for me sound wise jamming with a drummer, to me it just sounds better and of course louder for high gain stuff than the 50 watt stealth, which has a better clean channel. The EVH amps have plenty of gain, but more of a flatter, drier sound to the distortion, even the 100 watt EVH has that more dry and flat type of gain sound that I don't prefer. Just my opinion, some people may like that better. You need to hear them in person to really understand the difference. You can think you like something by listening to a video, but then when you try it yourself in whatever situation you're using it in you realize you don't or you prefer what you had.

Great sounding amp! You have excellent chops too 🙂
Thank you! You’re too kind
Awesome amps!
Sounds Great!
Got to admit I like the tone of the EL34 50 watter you did better. Playin is killer on both vids
Thanks mate! I agree so far out of all the EVH amps I’ve played the modded EL34 is my fave.
@@RDamps what is the mod on the EVH EL 34 do?
@@lydfar2392 just did the C137 mod
Killer!!!

As far as I know yes

Thank you for the kind words! I’m using an impulse response made by the owner of the amp. It’s an EVH 412 mic’ed with Beyer M160
How much different are the EVH 5150s to the original Peaveys and the SlO circuit wise?
I thinking of making a video about that
Anyway you can link that schematic, for the stealth? Cant seem to get it off the evh website, the link is broken.
Great demo and very informative. Thanks for the video
is the fact that it is an evolution of the peavey 5150 makes it better in your opinion or it's just different?

I’m thinking of making a video, going through schematics and breaking down the whole 5150 legacy from SLO to Peavey to EVH
@@RDamps that would be a great one!
