Hah, makes me feel nostalgic seeing a Mr. L model in the Mario 64 engine. Reminds me of some old Mario 64 Machinimas. I particularly remember one that went the full mile with the model and actually gave him what looked like a costume rather than just recoloring Mario's shirt and hat green while his overalls are black.
This feels like the true Mario 64 sequel if I could imagine one

You should see other hacks like Star road, beyond the cursed mirror, the last impact, and a ton more
If anything Mario 64 DS Graphics should have been used with Mario 64 fall damage (when jumping from a very high place or diving and hitting ground you see him fall on his back or belly flops and the camera shakes really hard
Would’ve loved to see more of that Mr. L guy. He kind of reminds me of Luigi a little bit, you guys see the similarities too, right? …Ah, I’m sure it’s nothing.

This looks like the kind of game that would've been able to fit on a 16mg cartridge had Nintendo just considered focusing on the N64 itself instead of worrying about the N64DD.
But I think there's be more levels and stars to collect than what was seen here.
