Actually the piano is a real enemy in Mario 64 and it really traumatized many, he didn’t swallow Mario whole but still gave a sudden jumpscare like here except in the real game it attacks when you get even a bit near to it
I say this for the guy above me thinking this one is a backrooms reference, it isn’t
@@mega6662 It was discovered the Piano only reacts if you run only. You can walk, punch, and jump in place next to the Piano but it won't do anything unless you start running.
That explains why the piano didn't react to Chugga at first in his Mario 64 DS LP~

You know, I'm glad these things have finally been mashed together, because when I used to play this game growing up, there was something about Peach's Castle that was always... off-putting to me. So many rooms in the castle had that liminal, elegiac feeling to them, maybe because of the textures, or the fact that Mario is all alone, I don't know. Either way, it evoked that same feeling the Backrooms evoke in me now

This game has always creeped me out as well. It gave me this..empty feeling. Like I was being watched or followed. Made me feel uneasy.

It does runnin hardware as I’m playing it now on my Chinese clone everdrive. In fact got tens dozens of hacks of sm64. Lots won’t work mind depending on rom size . It feels super creepy on n64

Remove the Backrooms context and references. Just make the into sign unmarked or more vague.
Make this run on real N64 Hardware.
Make a hundred copies and make them look like the official game.

That’s illegal actually, remember that Nintendo owns the Mario 64 hardware on the cartridge, so you could go to jail if you modified it and then sold it for money.

Some characters would be a nightmare for the entities in the backroom (looking at kirby)
No doubt in my mind Mario wouldn’t care at all about any of this. The man can run until the universe is destroyed, and the man is extremely agile.
When the heat death of the universe arrives, Mario will BLJ through reality to avoid it.
BLJ is such a unique way to enter the Backrooms!

I was recently making a backrooms themed build in minecraft just for building fun, so seeing the ideas used in a proper game is very interesting. I'd definitely hope to play it if this'll be a released rom.

*what if ever videogame had an access point into the backrooms and it just comes with coding universes and worlds, it's an unexplained phenomenon and every game can have you clip to the backrooms in somewhere in the games. Each games backrooms would look vastly diffrent, but what if through traversing them successfully game characters find themselves in other games from their own?*
The first backrooms with the neon buzzing were creepy but the others with the online sound being the wind is double creepy...
Would be cool to have the backrooms behind the infinite stairs cause I always clip through it and run right into Wet Dry World

So I assume the game is left entirely intact apart from adding the Backrooms levels? I kinda want this, but without the pipe at the start. Also with the Backrooms exit (like, a true exit that's newly added if not present) leading straight to Bowser in the Sky. Then we can make that the main speedrun version to spice up the Any% meta.
I really wonder what would be faster - the 70 Star route or the Backrooms route?

The look of horror on the camera man's face as mario runs ever farther into the backrooms implies he is bound to mario, unable to leave if he wanted. But then where would he go?
Pardon my ignorance, but I thought everyone’s copy of Mario 64 was like this. Every so often, my game would glitch out upon starting up my N64. This really got my brother and I paranoid back in the late 90s when we played Nintendo together at night. We never knew when the game would “get fuzzy” - that’s what we called it. Although it was rare, I vividly remember a number of times when this “fuzziness” would occur. Everything would be staticky. My selection of save files would be wiped. However there would exist one random save in the third slot with exactly 19 stars. The game would start out inside of a maze instead of the castle courtyard. I recall no music whatsoever, just the sounds of what I today know to be florescent lights. This video demonstrates what I experienced well. My brother and I never got far into the maze. We were both pussies and only lasted for a few minutes in this game mode before hard resetting the console. Anyways, thanks for the upload. I’m so glad that I’m not crazy. None of my friends in the 3rd grade believed me when I’d bring up my Mario 64 experiences. If only they saw this now…

From what I tested this works on an actual N64 (at least with expansion pak)
Mario slow walking in from of the corrupted version of himself seems somehow very much in character for him. Laughing in the face of death, so to speak.
I don't care what anyone says, in the original it wasn't Peach's castle... it was Peach's private art gallery & museum.

This hack is so scary the next levels are worse but I have to admit that the creators made a great scary job to make this.

You put this in just a normal mario rom.
Nix the pipe. but keep the parameters the same.
LIke BLJing up the stairs, OR glitching/noclipping would put you into the backrroms.
Then install it on a freinds emulator over their normal Mario rom.
and wait for them to like try speed running or something. xD
It kinda takes away from the experience when the protag keeps yelling "Yahoo!"
If I had a time machine, I would totally copy this to a physical cartridge and go back to around when the game was released, and then give it to some random dude in a dark alley.
