Such a quality video. I really respect this type of work. I hope to be able to do this stuff someday. I can only handle larger thru hole stuff for the time being. Thank you for making this video. Such skills. Thank you for sharing them!
Came across your video while researching possible upgrades to my T102HA Mini - unfortunately, no RAM or storage upgrades possible. Perhaps I could install a fresh battery. Anyway, nice bench equipment/work area. I appreciate watching pros like you do the intricate stuff to keep our electronics working just a little bit longer.
Hello there.. thank you for your time to show us.. got another question, can upgrade more ram?.. Have 4gb DDR3, I want upgrade another extra 4gb. Thanks.. Please let me know!
I got an used one with the LCD working but the touch pad broken. I have the option to buy the touch only which is much cheaper than the whole screen with touch but i see this looks more difficult to replace than on the T100TA which i already repaired for my wife. Do you think you can somewhen make a video of only touch screen repair or at least advise if it is a relative easy task to do? Or is not worth to try to peel the touch from the LCD?
Great work! Big respect for not damaging the LCD! Came here while changing a broken Display on the same device: Got backlight and touch is recognized but no image. Anyone? Changed already the long orange flex cable..is the twin cable the video connector (may be damaged)?
I have the same exact issue and I feel like replacing the USB port will not be a rugged solution since I'm using this on the road. I wouldn't mind the cable being fixed and glued down inside the tablet, would this be a more robust solution?
I would change the connector by brand new one, then I would also make better connexion of broken lines. Don't forget that this connector is solicited more than USB or any other connector.
This is the closest thing I’ve found to a tear down of this model. You said it was charging at a half amp. But it’s supposed to want 18w at 5 or 9 volts. I’m curious why it’s only pulling a half amp here.
I have the same issue, even same device, but I don't think I can do this without a microscope :S Is this port only for charging? (never used the device before) if so, can I tap into the 5v rail elsewhere? I don't really need the data lines, as this device will only do one specific task . Battery is dead and charging it using a bench psu won't work because of some safety-circuitry in the battery pack itself. The device also won't power up without (i guess) something to do with the two center pins of the battery pack (temp and v-sense?) Anyway, measuring for a 5v rail without being able to power it up is tricky for a noob
I have the same laptop with a similar problem - the charge port isn't broken per se but it definitely seems like it's going to be broken soon. I cannot charge unless I host it a certain way. Anyway, is the charge port easily user-replaceable or is it soldered to the motherboard?
According to some forums, this device has charging issues. Many reports of Asus replacing main board for customers. I have one that won't charge, even though the connector doesn't seem to be loose.
My speakers don't work. Bought second hand. Is there a connector for speakers?... maybe someone forgot to plug it in. There are glue signs around the display...
Hi, i have the same Tablet, but a different problem. It will only Start, if i hold the Power Button as soon as i dont push it anymore the tablet shuts down. Can this problem be resolved? Support will not act, because warranty expired four month ago.
This may be too late to tell you, but there is a solution. Tape something to keep the power on until the battery completely drains overnight. Then recharge. It should turn on normally after that
This doesn't look like try it yourself problem! my transformer mini USB port has nothing to engage with the cord. How expensive is this? wondering if I should just get a new small device
Not really affecting charge because the +5v pin is original.. But since he left out ground then it may be affected. The other 3 pins are data and OTG detect.
We do not have a camera on the other bench and was not able to show the opening process. I'll try to do that is the future. Screens are very fragile and can break easy.
Hello, amazing work! I have the exactly same problem but I cant do what you did. I have not this tools. Could you maybe tell me if you know someone in germany or near germany that could do this work? Because I think it would be a bit expansive to ship it to USA. Thanks
Nice vid, but can you please do a vid in how to open this "Tablet" I would gladly subscribe to a patreon of yours! or send money for content like this via paypal for example!
You carefully heat the outer screen with a heat gun to soften the double sided bonding tape then prior open with a plastic card with sharpened edges. It helps to use a suction cap with a ring pull to disperse the pull force so the screen does not crack. Thumbs up!

Hi, many thanks for your video. Very helpful. You are a wonder maker!
A joy to watch. Thank you

how did u get the screen off? tried prying mine but its very stuck, i think i need to use a heat gun?
Last pin is the ground. The device needs it to be connected in case the charging cable connector housing is not grounded.

Nice job and thanks for the detailed up-close microscope view. How long does the overcoat typically take to cure under the UV light?
About 2 minutes
Am I missing something? Pin 1 - +5V and Pin 5 - Ground. If you didn't connect the ground pin, how does it charge without a complete curcuit??
@NorthridgeFix do you think there is space for a usb-c on paralell or replacing micro usb? is there other layers that can break if use drilling?
i have the same problem.... how much do you charge to fix the charging port ? best buy wanted to charge me over 400

What is the gel that you put on the board before soldering?

Good job .pls show more android phones

Hi, how did you glue the screen? thanks
The best glue for me is B-7000.

@@hughmorus6391 thank you! found this too and it helped. The tablet works fine now.
@@0kami90 glad to hear that!

Great work man!!
But using so thin jumper wires affect the maximum current rating of the connector?
Like the device may take more time for charging.

Where are u located??
Hi, I need to see how did you open the screen? Because I've opened it and it's cracked 😖

@@NorthridgeFix Did you ever make a video showing how you opened it?

You didn't even show how you opened the screen. Wow, what a fancy microscope. Thumbs down
