thanks for watching :3
I can't find step nine settings
Ok
@@Goldcookieytyou might be on console the extra video settings aren’t there only on pc
What's the dodge deadzone
Bro i have left airroll on L1 right air roll on R1 and driving forward and back on L2 and R2. Where should i put powerslide and boost?😅
I feel like most yourtubers often don’t explain exactly what sensitivity in rocket league actually does, so for anybody who doesn’t know, sensitivity does not actually change the max steering/air-pitch value, rather it acts as a multiplier-
Assume that rocket league registers no tilt on your joystick as a steering value of zero and a maximum tilt as a steering value of 1.00. Before rocket league registers a steering input, the steering value is first multiplied by the steering sensitivity and is then registered. For example with a sensitivity of 1.00 and a joystick tilt 60% the way to the end of your joystick (or a steering value of 0.60), the game will do the calculation of 0.60x1.00=0.60 which will be what the game registers. Likewise with a steering value of 0.30 and a steering sensitivity of 2.00 the game will register your input as 0.30x2.00=0.60 which will be the steering value of your car.
So you might think that with a steering value of 0.80 with a steering sensitivity of 2.00 your input would be registered as 0.80x2.00=1.60 and that your car’s maximum steering value bumped up from a 1.00 to a 1.60 and you can steer at a steeper angle, however this is not the case. Rocket league sets the maximum steering value at 1.00 so it would be more like 0.80x2.00=1.60=1.00
So essentially, in competitive rocket league, sensitivity dictates how quickly you can start turning at max speed, for example with a sensitivity of 10.00 you can reach the max steering value with just an input of 0.10 on your joystick. In my opinion I find that the extra few fractions of a second quicker you are able to start turning max speed is not worth the lost precision which is why I play on 1.00 sensitivity, and this is also why the ex pro player lethamyr also plays with 1.00 sensitivity (he touched on it in a video of his). But like spookluke mentioned this is a personal preference thing and he found that he was able to overcome the lost precision that you might feel through practice plus his hours in game.
Also because of the fact that the maximum steering value never goes over 1.00, steering sensitivity on keyboard and mouse does nothing as their are no analog inputs on keyboard and mouse.
I hope this helps someone, and whoever’s reading this I wish you a good day/night😊
I ain't reading allat
I WAS GONNA SAY THAT LMAOOO
I ain’t reading allat
@@ayaan4236 that is pathetic lol. Why would you watch a video on improving and not read on a basic mechanic
@@DanJanucik mate chill I did read it I rlly like reading tbh I was just joking
Im really hopeing everybody doesn't just run around with 0.5 deadzone and 2.0 sens now, because consistency is going to go out of the window even for GC1 ish players. there is nothing wrong with using higher controller deadzones, if you find yourself overshooting your movements all the time even with experience, then turning your deadzone up to 0.9 or even 0.15 will help you. Just because you feel faster doesn't mean you are, if your constently having to correct your movement because its all to twitchy then your going to be slower, not faster, when your spinning as much as a pro does with directional air roll then this is not as much of an issue.
Zen does not have air roll right on R2, he's consolidated air roll left and brake/reverse on L2. In theory you could map air roll right on R2 but it leads to issues with what is usually mapped on R2,such as acceleration, so you'd have to have pinpoint precision on recoveries. You'd have to change the rest of your controller scheme up to map it without conflict with other controls.
it clearly said r1 for roll right. maybe read before commenting :D
@@comuniqe2749 he clearly points to r2
First thing i did when I started playing was put directional airroll on the left trigger, best choice I ever made. I kept jump, boost and camera where they are because I'm old and I learned to use a controller when they only had 2 buttons, so I'm fine with using my big old thumb to roll around the buttons.
We play the exact same, but my directional airroll is on my bumper, not my trigger. And he said Zen "discovered it" lol just cuz someones a pro doesnt mean they discover something.
Real nice mate. I just wanted to learn about deadzones and i got the full experience.😊
My guy telling me he is not gonna waste my time and then continues to waste my time with a bunch of fluff instead of getting to the settings.
Right?! I'm sat here like -_- Bro, just get on with it if you don't want to waste time.
If you don't want to waste your time, stop playing games and go to work
@@devTalks3641 as you’re literally wasting your time in a TH-cam shorts comment section. Get a grip bozo

Not useful I’m d1
Quit giving tips they don’t work
Came in clutch with this one ngl
this was very helpful thank you for this
What about input buffer? Keep it at default or are the other options better depending on your area and Internet?
Thank a lot for this video its helping me a lot Spook luke air row better
Thank you for the video. I couldn’t tell if i needed to change the DEADZONE or the SENSITIVITY to move faster
to move faster i would say you would need to change the deadzone
i didnt have these videos when i started rocket league lmao, i recently switched some keybinds and i actually love them for me
Should you have your deadzone higher with ps5 controller?
Funny enough, I do actually know one high GC who uses controller vibration (or at least he did as of last time I talked to him, though it's been a while). I first met him August 2019 when I was still Plat 1 in both 2v2s and 3v3s (I'm now Diamond 2 in 3v3s and Champ 1 in 2v2s), and he was about C2-3 in both, but got placed on my team in a Plat 1 3v3s lobby because he had just switched to PC from one of the console versions and was doing his placements. Anyway, his explanation for why he used controller vibration was that it allowed him to feel the ball on his hood when he was dribbling. While this sounded logical, and I'm sure it works for him, I've never liked controller vibration (in any game, for that matter, not just RL).
Thanks for this. Big time helpfull.
wow man thanks for showing us what to put our settings as
Just changed my boost to right bumper with slide and stick air roll set to left number. Feels great. Trying left and right roll on x and b respectively.
The where did you put your scoreboard
@@Felix-coI put my scoreboard with quick voice
and where do you acelerate forward and backyadr? with the triggers?
where is ur air roll right?
Love the vids🔥
This was so helpful
I have had my direction air roll on L1 for YEARS and had some friends copy me, ZEN just made it popular.
thanks for the vid dude!
If you use the stick for driving forward and backwards i recommend binding boost and directional air roll to the triggers
and what do you put on both bumpers? and i'm trying to play with stick for driving forward and backwards but i don't understand how are you suposed to turn left or right without beeing full speed without boost, like i'm trying to turn but i loose my acceleration because driving forward is toggled just for the forward stick and not left and right
@thibaultleon-sabatier1965 it's that's the hard part about it and it's just more awkward but once you get the hang of it it's not that bad and for bumpers I use joystick air roll and powerslide on the same bumper and I don't use the other bumper
@thibaultleon-sabatier1965 turning with my settings is more awkward but air mechanics are so much easier to learn
@thibaultleon-sabatier1965 so basically what my settings do is remove the need to do any fat fingerings and playing just feels a lot better on your hands
Who the heck binds accelerate and reverse to analog stick xD
W coaching keep up the good work
Hey, what about steam settings? Did you change the shape of the deadzone etc? How you set up your controller on steam?
This helped so much bro
this guys editor needs a raise
Thank u for the settings
Thanks it helps alot
thank you, now i'm better than before
DAR on L2 is actually what makes Zen better than the rest. I've played 6k hours with both DAR at one speed and now im 1k with only ARL in L2 after a hard change and the difference is way bigger than the world thinks. Its not only the movement, but how easy it gets to control the car and how clear it gets when to use each AR. Apart form being the most fun par of RL. Zen has more fun and he is more relaxed than the rest when he plays, even if it sounds silly. Defenetly meta and it will get more important in the next years...
Just tested that. DAR on trigger works same as on button. You can't rotate slower by pressing it slightly.
@@MrPasetchnik if you have It on Nintendo switch no, but on the rest yes. Lower your aerial sensitivity if you cant feel it
@@MrPasetchnikthat's just not true. Being able to have the precision on DAR because of the trigger sensitivity is incredibly useful and is clearly visible when you test it out. Check your controller.
@@nicokw Lowered Aerial sensivity to 1.0 ... and wow.
I wish my bumpers could act like triggers. It's hard to drive using bumpers
Is it better to play in 4:3 resolution or 16:9 resolution?
What dodge deadzone should be the minimum?
my pc lags really hard when i try to use fullscreen im not sure if i should keep using it or not
A couplemonths ago you said render detail should be performance. Now youre saying it should be high quality. Which is correct and why?
What Controller sensitivity is recommended for me as I am diamond 1, thanks for the info :)
I'm trying to combine a competitive style with freestyling style. I think I'm the first and only person to use Cross deadzone AND square deadzone at the same time. How you ask?? I'd love to share my secrets. It works really good and allows you to do stalls easily without sacrificing the input deadzone window.
GC1 and I use controller vibrations . I love it lol
Ehy luke can you make a video about sensitivities???
Hi! I have a ps5 controller, but I see that almost 90% of the pros use ps4, is it worth switching?
thank you a lot
i put airroll and power slide on square, and personally i put my boost to L1 because it feels good to me. what button should i change it to?
this guy is gthe best RL settings teacher he made me change my controls for the better but I cant really do my right air roll now
Thanks I did everything I could btw I’ll catch u up later if I get better😅
Thx dude
When people say what rank they are, what mode are they talking about?
thanks!🙂
I'm on square dead zone after watching Mactufs videos I feel faster but if square dead zone only good if your freestyling because I'm trying to get better at recovery after resets
What decal are you using?
Thank you
Which deadzone shape do you use?
i am on nitendo switch, if i use on the pro controller boost on the r bottom and air roll with powerslide on the zl, will be fine?
The editing tho fire
Luke tysm I went from plat to champ
Fr? Be serious
hey im kinda new to rocket and my controlls are l2 revurse r2 forward and l1 to jump r1 to boost and r3 to drift and airroll right left right joystick and airroll left left side joystick should i change them bc im so used to these settings?
Good if not great video for beginners, W editing
🤝
What about the TAInput config and changing the DoubleTapTime and the TapTime to 0.1 ? I cant find any Infos about that ..... just like the deadzone in earlier days where we didnt have any ingame option for that.
So I can't play with a ps4 controller on PC without ds4 and I'm sure those setting make a huge difference any idea how to set that up or is there a way I can play without ds4
Thank u Luke, your videos always help me
🎉🎉
I have bassicaly the same keybinds as zen and i had no clue who zen was😂
Wait, so Boost must be in the R1 button, because Air Roll and Powerslide are in L1 and Drive forward and backwards are in L2 and R2, right?
I didn't know we were in 2024 yet.
💀its just for fun love your vids luke ❤
What is the best sensitivity for a champ
Can we get a kbm settings video
@SpookLuke, I have a question regarding the last part of the video. At any time should I use steam input dead zones. I'm currently using cross; do you think it would benefit me if I do away with steam input dead zones?
Just completely do away with steam input. It creates a input lag, and isn’t consistent with other games input.
Can u do a coaching program for silver to gc?
Because of you I am better😊
my problem is when i put my power slide on my air roll button its also my brake button so i cant hit the brakes most of the time
I have a scuf so alot of this didn't really affect me that was considered negative like the "fat fingering" portion so still not sure on what key binds make sense still
Well i change my binds from defaults plus air roll left/right on l1/r1
To
Boost r1
Power slide/airroll left l1
Airroll right on square
I tweaked some settings after watching this video, and it felt instantly better. I think I may have crossed a threshold where my settings were holding me back from breaking out of Diamond. My deadzone and controller sensitivity settings were terrible.
What settings did you have?
@melandro2327 My dead zone was .19. My driving sensitivity was 2.15. Aerial sensitivity was 1.3.
Damn, i have like 2k hours at gc3, but gosh my cobtrols are terrible i just realised lmao, should i change it, because i dont even have joystickairroll on, and my boost is on circle. Any help?
Do you use DS4Windows to make the controller work? I haven’t seen anyone talk about that or if they have separate settings on there that affect the game
DS4Windows adds input lag, your PS4 controller should work on RL without it
Damn didn't notice it's a new video😂
Hey their, I am on xbox, were should I bind to boost to?
everyone recommends 0.05 for deadzone, but I need to use 0.10 because all my three PS4 DSs have 0.07~0.10 stick drift
I wonder it's just my bad luck or my country is importing the bad ones 😂
Bro needs to get to the point, this should be a 2 minute video fml
1:50 I swear to God I was solo quing high c2-c3 and idk if my teammate was a bot but I checked replay to analyze my mistakes and bro had camera shake on and this was this season
Is this the same for switch?
I now understand the term “sweat” 😂
plz make 1 for kbm users also
so if i have airroll at lb then should i take it off because now i have airroll left as left trigger and air roll right as my right trigger
My man rizzo getting the smoke lol
I use controller vibrate because it feels more like your playing the game xd no camera shake tho that is goof
is there a big disparity between ps4 and ps5 controllers? i noticed a lot of people stick with the DS4 instead of going up to the PS5
when i do the render detail and turn off the effects it turns into custom so to make it high quality i need the effects on (i am on keyboard)
Stick drift is the killer of dead zone
After a few bad games and being angry you might need to turn up the deadzone because of the stick being way to whacky 😂
I feel like i play better with vibration on but I'll keep trying without it
ssl and ex pro player batourl uses camera shake ( mostly to annoy his chat )
Should i turn off vsync im on console?
ive been GC since original season 3 and absolutely CAN NOT play with controller vibration. If my controller does not vibrate when i hit boost, i assume i have 0. IDK how people play w/o it. =/
Home boy talking bad about thanovic that crazy
I’ve been using air roll left on LB (Xbox) this entire time I didn’t know that’s a rare thing ☠️
it’s not, that’s L1 not L2, he has is as LT on xbox.
I tried the controls 😅 1 second i was hating it could only drive and bost at once
Sawesome!!😊
Omg how do you know that I wrote "best rocketleague settings "
What is the dodge dead zone
Where is your drive forward then if your boost is on r2
