      And I'm watching video again I see you be applied the plugins directly to each vocal. Is that better or should I use a bus, given I have alot of Tracks in my session.

    • @thisishssn
      @thisishssn  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Radjeff Dennis yes, sending a bus is a good way to control multiple tracks (for example, harmonies, drums, etc) and you use less CPU power due to less plugins.

      Anything to be honest, I just like taking note and seeing different perspectives. For example, tips on making vocals sit on the mix well, vocal comping, indepth EQing, making fuller vocals, vocal effects/transitions, mastering, etc.

    AMAZING job on this song and mix and going into depth with the explanation for real! I actually got the song! No complaints at all but wanted to give a small quick tip without taking away from how good it is if you'd like to read. I heard some analog hiss idk if you wanted it on there or not BUT if not, for future reference the analog versions of the WAVES plugins (i.e. SSL, 1176, LA2A, H-Delay etc.) usually have an analog switch on them that will say "50hz, 60hz or 0,1,2,3,4" or something similar to that. If you turn those off or to 0 there will be no more hiss. Like I said before the song is AMAZING keep up the great work for real!

    • @thisishssn

    can you do a backing vocals mix tutorial,?

    • @thisishssn
      @thisishssn  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes - I can. However, it's relatively easy. Eqing background vocals - make sure you're carving out the eq frequencies where the main vocals would sit. This is one way to help ensure your bg vocals have their own space and aren't crowding the main vocals.

    • @refugioflores2226
      @refugioflores2226 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh yea thats true. and what type of reverb works better for backing vocals to push em back in the mix.. i like how you mixed yours and how you created the doubles with the pitch shift . you can show how to tho those too. it was a great video man

    do you use the Desser on the mix? An engineer told me I shouldn't put any plug ins on the overall track until i reach the mastering ... I found it kind of odd because it would make sense to add a Desser to everything even on the mix. any help or info on this would be greatly appreciated. I liked and subscribed thank you!

      Fire that engineer. You want your mix to sound as close to what you envisioned it and then use mastering.

    How did you make the effects in the secondary voice? Like that electronic effect when the song is about to start

    • @thisishssn
      @thisishssn  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good question. The intro for the song with the stutter was created in 3 different steps.
      1. I recorded a vocal run and chopped it to the beat.
      2. I created stutter effects to it by chopping the vocals to the beat at 1/64 and 1/32 intervals
      3. I duplicated the vocal run and pitched it up 12 semitones and layered it with the original recording.
      Let me know if this helps - this is obviously a very high level explanation of the process but its the gist of what I did.

    • @thisishssn
      @thisishssn  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Third party plugins are available from various copanies such as Waves, FabFilter, UAD, Kontakt, etc. There are 2 groups (generally); effects and virtual instruments. You can purchase these online. Read this: support.presonus.com/hc/en-us/articles/210043983-Studio-One-How-do-I-add-a-3rd-party-VST-to-Studio-One-

    WOW! You use a lot of plugins.

      Every plugin has its necessary reason to be in the chain. If you watch through the video, you'll see why I use specific plugins. If you have additional questions about plugins, let me know. I'll try my best to answer them.

    hey NU SZN im a upcoming engineer, what can i do to make vocals sound crisper (rap vocals) using waves plug ins, or original presonus olugins

    • @thisishssn
      @thisishssn  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Radjeff Dennis it's not what plugins you use, it's how you use them. If you don't have the money to spend on waves plugins, the presonus plugins will do just fine. Watch through the tutorial and let me know if something doesn't make sense. Good luck!

    Hey bro, just a few questions I have on mixing (I’m very new) and all of my mixes are very distorted when exporting and I really want to keep my vocals there up front but I can’t seem to do that without distorting The Whole track. How could I stop this and get the effect I need. I really wanna learn how to mix and master by myself. Thank you bro very helpfully video.

      @thisishssn  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey,
      My first guess is that your tracking levels are too high and they are clipping. Check your mix levels before putting your mastering chain in. If those are fine, check your levels at every stage of the mastering chain.
